Anytime I hear this line in the song “If you want to leave, biko leave…,” why  am I always so quick to remember what the president of Nigeria- #Muhammadu #Buhari once said in this #mber months. I quote him “Those who feel they have another country, can leave”

Anyway, that is by the way, kindly take a gander at the lyrics before the main review, njoyyy!

MUSIC REVIEW

Ehen, ladies did you hear this Kizz Daniel’s line “Meanwhile Rosita dey hail o. If you break my heart today, me I go sharperly replace.” Why do I have this feeling that men are not always 100% faithful to their women. If they do not cheat emotionally, they cheat physically or they cheat in both ways. I mean when someone says “I go sharperly replace” that means there has always been another woman on standby blowing his mind.

Davido’s verse looks like one ready to make his relationship work while that of Kizz is like one that cheats on his girlfriend emotionally and quickly jumps at any opportunity to quit his relationship and move to another.

Moving on, so, the song starts with a dialogue between two ladies that lasted for about 43 seconds. Lady A tells lady B about how her boyfriend had left her. Her words “I loved him so much, I gave him everything, we were so perfect…” The intro is atmospheric!

By the way, do yah all notice the station Kizz was tuned to? It is African Magic! When I first saw it, I was like, “Awwww” a Nigerian artiste is watching something Nigerian. Common, Nigerian artistes hardly do or say anything Nigerian again, they have all gone foreign in their thoughts, words, actions, outfits; activities sha. It was even recently they started wearing African prints. Nice one @ Kizz Daniel, I really love that he was tuned to African magic.

Lyrically, the song comes in this form; Intro-verse1-chorus-interlide-verse2-chorus (2x)-interlude-chorus(2x)-outro” It has two verses, the chorus was taken five times.

Both artistes sang mostly in pidgin although Davido sang in Yoruba in one of the lines of his verse. Punchy  lyrics “See baby, if you want to leave, biko leave, no do shakara, no dey carry your shoulder o” and meaningful.

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the verse 1, “Eh, every time wire me money (Sepe)” Davido tells us how much effect his babe has on him. He says the girl is striking and overwhelms him. However, despite the intense love he has for his babe and how he shows-her-off, he says his babe is not reciprocating his love for her. Rather, all she does is demand more and more money from him all the time. This makes the artiste see his babe as a scammer, someone who is deceiving him or pretending to love him in order to get his cash.

In the chorus “See baby, if you want to leave o, biko leave” Davido and Kizz Daniel unable to handle their girlfriend’s lack of commitment to the relationship or their unsatisfactory way of showing affection, tell them to quit the relationship if they want to.

They say they are going off their mind because the girls are proving difficult or fronting for them. Unable to take their nonchalant acts anymore and likewise get what they desire in the relationship, they book their ticket to another country and leave the ladies  without telling them.

In the verse 2, “Hello O (Con confam). Me I no dey fear you again.”   Kizz Daniel says he is no longer afraid of what may become of him if his babe leaves him. In essence, her hold on him is no longer strong and if she ever leaves him, it would have zero effect on him.  He also says his girlfriend is always quick to get upset as well as call  taxi to take her home, leaving him wanting

He further says, there is already another lady “Rosita” on standby and anytime she quits on him, he would quickly replace her with another girl.

WHAT IS THE SONG ONE TICKET BY KIZZ DANIEL FT DAVIDO ABOUT

The song “One Ticket” by Kizz Daniel ft Davido is about the intense love both artistes have for their girlfriendss who are not reciprocating the love. Despite the show of affection, their ladies take them for granted and do not show commitment. Meanwhile, they are always demanding; the only thing they seem to be concerned about is the artistes sending only money to them.  This makes the artiste see them as scammers, ladies who are just around because of the money they have. The ladies are driving them crazy, but they can’t stand their lack of commitment, so they jet out.

MEANING OF SOME WORDS

Love–  A strong affection or fondness for someone; Scam-Deceit, fraud

Wire me money– In the contest of this song means send/transfer money to someone.

Scammer– A cheat, swindler; Biko– An Igbo word in Nigeria that means “Please”

Blow one’s mind– To impress someone so much. To amaze or overwhelm someone, to strongly affect someone or make someone excited.

Shakara- Proving so hard to talk to,  to front, to pose or act like you matter or you are more  relevant than others, feeling extremely over special, feel like people can not do without you, proving difficult at first and eventually giving in later after  countless  pleas, to be begged for a long time before listening to someone or doing someone’s bid

Carry your shoulder– To be proud; Kolo– Crazy; Vex– Get angry, annoyed

Obodo Oyibo– White man’s land; Sharperly– Quickly, hurriedly, speedily

Uber– A modernized means of taxi transportation; a peer-peer ride sharing taxi cab, transportation network company

COSTUME

Both Kizz Daniel and Davido were mostly on Casual. The paparazzi also! But the first video vixen wore a glittering gown, while the second video vixen wore a plain gown. The second vixen also wore a night robe revealing her undies; the ladies looked more super flowing than the men.

SOUND

Original melody! Clear vocals, they were consistent with their style of rhythm. I also love the drum beats!

LOCATION

Most artists now use Luxurious Resorts for their video shoots. It seems the video was shot in SouthAfrica, perhaps @Legend Golf  and Safari resort situated in 441 Lynnwood road, corner Rodericks, #Pretoria

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Clean video! The video complements the track. The guys were really emotional. They were all very expressive though including the two video vixens. Infact, that first video vixen, “Omo she be Mike Tyson o.” I am sure she must have met  professional boxer Mike Tyson before. As in her rage and her readiness to kick or box someone or something is not a “Hia” something.

JUST WONDERING

  • What did Davido say at the 2 minutes 49 seconds of the video “Isko?” or what?, perhaps, he wanted to say, it is called, hmmm
  • I was going through his tattoos, guess whose name I was looking for? The assurance mama- #Chioma. Did I just say that? Well, true that, but, I didn’t see her name, perhaps he has it somewhere else, may be his…(Hmm, I will tell you later)
  • Davido should stop bringing out his tongue, like seriously, he knows I have told him that in my last article on assurance (View the review here @ http://www.ogefash.reviews), he read it…
  • This first video vixen must be a Mike Tyson fan or may be Jetli? What of Van Damme? She was over expressive; may be na experience sha…
  • The way Davido did his eyes though in the 1 minute 33/35 seconds of the video
  • I did not hear what Kizz was saying during the interlude, na incantation ni? Just kidding but he was just not audible enough and the beat also overshadowerd his voice
  • Ehen, see the way the camera just focused on the flight attendant’s bum…
