MOVIE REVIEW: OMO IYA OSUN “PUTTING THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE!”

MOVIE REVIEW: OMO IYA OSUN “PUTTING THE CAT BEFORE THE HORSE!”

When I started watching the movie “Omo Iya Osun”, I felt like pressing the stop button because the beginning was not intriguing enough and the music used in the movie was not pleasing to the ears enough. But because the movie was not lengthy, I decided to hold on a for a while just to see where it was heading to. Perhaps, the reason for this was because the movie has casts that I love. So I watched to the end and it was worth it.

The film started in a boring way and again I maintain that the music was not interesting enough. Music is a very important tool in movie; the way it is sung matters a lot. There are some films that are not interesting, but because the music that was played in the movie is interesting, people are not quick to tell or know that the movie is boring.

Like I said, the beginning of the movie was not that intriguing. So, does “putting the cart before the horse qualify it? well all I know is that they should have kicked off with something more catchy or better still they should have used a better sound.

So, the movie “Omo Iya Osun” tells the story of a lady called Osunmuyiwa (Mide FM Martins) who wanted to pay her aunt- Osunyele (Toyin Oladiran) back in her own coin for making the king strip her of her calabsh bearer title.

Osunleye had misled her niece Osunmuyiwa when she sought for her advice. She made her believe that she could break her virginity and still be a calabash bearer without any consequence. The already eager to experience sex Osunmuyiwa followed her aunty’s advice.

As time went on, she was exposed and stripped of her position as a calabash bearer. Her aunty denied her and even went as far as calling her a wayward girl. Osunmuyiwa’s mum died in the process. Pained by her aunty’s act, she decided to pay her back in her own coin. This time, it was when her daughter Osunsemilore (Yetunde Barnabas) was made the calabash bearer. She also misled her and used voodoos on her to make her commit crime

I certainly love this film because at the end of the movie there is a vital lesson to be learnt. The evil that men do lives after them. If one doesn’t suffer for his sins, his or her generation would surely suffer for it. Exactly what happened in the movie.
However, it is really not clear how long one was supposed to be a calabash bearer and remain virgin. For how long did Osunmuyiwa carry it before Osunsemilore took over. Was Osunsemilore young? Did she not hear about what her mum did to her aunt. Of course these are things that should make one suspicious. What of Osunleye, was she quick to forget the evil advice she gave to Osunmuyiwa?

The movie was shot in a way that looked like everything happened or was shot in a day. We don’t have an idea of how many days, months or years already passed by before the next scene or before Osunsemilore took over. However, the casts acted well and also brought comic to the film- especially in the part of Asekunlowo (Abolaji Amusan)

Again, I insist, music matters a lot in movies, the way it is sung can either pin down viewers to watch the movie or discourage them from watching the movie. At times, viewers tend to enjoy a movie just because of the background music alone; I was not too impressed with the movie song.

Costume wise
• Good costume- The ladies were more dressed than the guys

Sound wise
• Not too impressive

Just wondering
• Fiyin told Osunsemilore that he wont tell anybody that she had sex with him @ the 17 minutes of the movie. I am wondering how someone that  told everyone especially his friend that his girl friend refused to have sex with him will keep mute when she finally allows him to make love to her; he will definitely tell the whole world

• Hot soup could be eaten in a hurry ke @ 22 minutes 49 seconds of the movie? This should be a mistake. I guess the translator wanted to write “Hot soup could not be eaten in a hurry”

• Last time I checked top people are usually around during procession, how come Osunsemilore- the calabash bearer was not there?

• How come I did not see Bukola Adeeyo’s name in the list of casts when the film started. Hello, she is a famous actress.

• Now this scene certainly made me laugh @ 27 minutes 46 seconds of the movie. After, the robbers left, the police came and saw the victim- Asekunlowo outside and they were asking him if the thieves were still inside while they tried entering his house. Am wondering if police actually ask victims already outside if the thieves are still inside their house

• How can someone that is called Iya Osun not suspect anything at all. If Osunmuyiwa had access to voodoos, am sure Osunyele also has access to one.

• There should have been a continuation after the scene where Osunsemilore asked a woman @ the 44 minutes of the video to lead her to her husband

• Osunsemilore was always closing her eyes too much

• I don’t understand the movie, was Osunmuyiwa the one robbing in Osunsemilore’s skin or was Osunsemilore the one robbing when an evil spirit comes upon her?

• How come the herbalist doesn’t know Osunmuyiwa, was she not the calabash bearer before Osunsemilore @ 53 minutes

• We know Osunyele and Osunmuyiwa are families. During the flashback, Osunyele at the shrine said that she would deal with Osunmuyiwa and her family. And I am wondering, is it not the same family?

• They barely called names of the actors in the movie

• In the cast’s name, they put Mide FM Abiodun’s name in the movie as Otun, instead of Osunmuyiwa

• We do not know how many days, months or years that have passed before another scene, everything seems to be happening so quick and in a day.

• The way Osunsemilore speaks her Yoruba though especially @ 33 minutes, I was really forced to check if she is a yoruba girl. At 33 minutes, look at the way she said, what are you doing there “ki ni e se ni be?” Like seriously?

• Outside the king’s palace, there is nothing to show that it is a palace; o ma terrible gan ni. Meanwhile, this man looks like the king also.

PhotoGrid_1544907572879

• For how long is the calabash bearer supposed to remain a virgin, because it is like anyone who is to carry it must stay virgin. So how exactly will the person marry?

Overall rating for Omo Iya Osun

• STRUCTURE: Good Beginning, Shaky Middle, Good Ending
• SOUND: Not impressive
• DIALOGUE: Good
• CHARACTERS: Familiar faces and new faces
• SCREEN PLAY: Good
• SHOTS: Bright shots
• LOCATION: Nigeria

• REMARK: An interesting film with morals.
• RATE: 6/10

The 1 HOUR 25 MINUTES movie was about four female assassins- Vicky (Acted by Mercy Aigbe), Enny (Acted by Laide Bakare), Bimbo (Acted by Tina Ebem) and Olu (Acted by Bolaji Ogunmola). These assassins were deadly and never missed their targets. Whoever they wanted out of the way, was always kicked out of the way. No one could crumble them, they were so skilled that they got away with their criminal acts. They can play victim just to get their targets.

The movie however centered majorly on the fight between the four deadly female assassins and Chief Olasebikan (Acted by Aina Gold/ Yinka Quadri) who absconded with their money after they risked their lives and helped him regain his freedom which led to the death of some uniformed men. The female assassins found a way to hack into his account and withdrew all his money. He found out that they were behind it, so he flew back to Nigeria  from France to deal with them. Will he succeed? Find out below

(+BIOGRAPHY) WIZKID IS OGEFASH BLOG ARTISTE OF THE YEAR “BAHD GUY BUT A TRUE #STARBOY!”

Follow on IG @ogefash_july4

His birth name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun but he is widely known by his stage name #Wizkid. But he prefers to be called the “Star boy” taken from the name of his record label “Star Boy Entertainment”

Indeed, the name “Star Boy” is clearly working for him. He is not only a talented local superstar but also an international one. He is one of the few musicians in the country that his star is glimmering not only in Nigeria, Africa and America but in all the continents in the world. Just like how glaring it is when a star appears in the sky, so also is Wizkid, it is impossible for him to be unnoticed. He is exceptionally tremendous.

Star boy is full of charm and vigor. He is dapper, he has got poise and is driven which has overtime earned him fame and wealth in the music industry.

What stands him out is that he is nothing like his colleagues who announce every of their expensive purchases- cars, money, houses even girlfriends/boyfriends self on social media. Star boy is one of those few musicians that does things in a quiet way and doesn’t rant about it.

He started dominating the music industry right after he dropped the song “Holla at your boy” off his first album titled “Superstar” under Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) record label owned by Banky W. The song won him the coveted “Next Rated Award” at the 2011 edition of “The Headies”. The award came with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.

More about Balogun Ibrahim Ayodeji (BIA) aka #Wizkid aka #Starboy

“African born, me rep my thing, yo”

Linked to the zodiac sign- Cancer, Wizkid was born on the 16th of July, 1990. He is African born, he is Nigerian born and he doesn’t hide it. He still fuses Yoruba, pidgin and at times Igbo in some of his songs. He wears African prints in his videos. He also sings using the afro beat style. He is indeed showing that he is an African.

Star boy has been singing since age 11 right from his church. He and four other boys formed a group called “Glorious 5” and released an album.  He acknowledges Naeto C, OJBJezreel, Ikechukwu and MI’s efforts in developing his skill.

He dropped out of two different schools Lagos State University (#LASU) and Lead City University (#LCU)while nurturing his music career.

He has his own record label “Star Boy Entertainment” The people on his record label are Maleek Berry, producers like Uzezi Oniko and Okiemute Oniko (Legendary Beatz), recording artist like LAX, Efya, R2Bees, Mr Eazi, Terri, Spotlight and Ceeza Milli.

“We in Miami living la vida loca, ayy”

Wizkid has indeed paid his dues; from all those time he was always hanging around late OJB’s “Point Beat” studio watching 2Baba record his “Grass to grace” Album and Sound sultan record his “Jagbajantis” album, to following Banky W to shows as a minor artist, to working tirelessly just to reach his goal; it is however his turn now. He is currently wearing the biggest crown in the music industry in terms of fame and wealth. He is currently more successful than those he met in the industry.

So he can afford to live the kind of life he wants to live. His assiduousness and God has fetched him plenty money. He is exuberant as well as carefree. He is answerable to no one. He smokes cannabis however and whenever he wants, he even dances as he is smoking it; like his life depends on it. He also loves to take Hennessey like he sang in the song ‘Come closer’ where he featured Drake ““Me love my Hennessy straight with no chaser”

“Starboy dey here suh. Came into the game, no one replace me”

For now Wizkid is the most recognized African artist all over the world. Indeed no one has been able to replace him. View some of his international /Nigerian collaborations below

“All of my guys know me all about my paper” “Me no let anything come between me and my paper”

That is so true! There is time for everything. When it is time for the Starboy to go for shows and make money, nothing can hinder him, not even all his baby mamas can hold him down. Not even the cannabis or Hennessy can stand in his way.

He was the most booked Nigerian artiste in year 2018 performing both in and out of Nigeria. He had hundreds of shows, some shows where even clashing with one another and he earned millions of dollars for all the shows.

“Me got me girls all around me, me  no chaser” “She give me tease and she pleasing my roja”

This is extremely true, however whether he is no chaser is what I know not. But I certainly know that he is one person women flock around or maybe it is the other way round. He enjoys the company of women a lot. I mean this is pretty obvious as he sings mostly about women, their body and sex. He talks about women in an erotic way. If he doesn’t talk about a lady and her physique in a sexual way, then it can’t be a Wizkid’s song.

And to those pleasing his “Roja” they now have babies from it and are on the list of his baby mamas. His first baby mama is Sola Ogudugu who has a son (Boluwatife Balogun) for him. What about Tania Omotayo, she pleased his Roja but did not have a bay for him.

Wizkid has three other baby mamas who. However, there is just one who has got the keys to his Porsche and rover; well I don’t know who she is

“Starboy call me number one” “Me number one inna my city”

He loved to listen to legends like King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti and Bob marley while growing up. Wizkid is number one now in the whole of Africa. He is representing Nigeria and Africa well. His feature in Drake’s song- One dance created an opening for him in the international music scene. “One dance” by Drake was number one in top 15 countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and so on. He was graded 5th on Forbes and Channel O’s 2013 list of the top 10 Richest African artistes.

Starboy is the only Nigerian and African musician with the highest number of followers on Instagram; about 7 million followers. He is also the first Afrobeat artiste to appear in the 2018 Guinness World Records for his contribution to Drake’s song “One dance”

He is the first African artiste to model for Dolce and Gabbana with his “Starboy” logo along with Model-Naomi Campbell. Perhaps, the reason the  model took him as her date to the GQ Awards in London.

He also has a day named after him in Minnesota, United States. The Governor of Minnessota set aside October 6th as “Wizkid Day”

He was formally an MTN ambassador but he is now with GlO. He is also one of the Pepsi Ambassadors. He has several awards from Bet Awards, Billboard Music Awards, iHeartTadio Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Award, MTV Africa Music Awards, SoundCity MVP awards, MOBO Awards, Headies awards, Channel O Music Video Awards, Nigerian Entertainment Awards, Ghana Music Awards, Dynamix All Youth Awards, City People Entertainment Awards, Future Awards

Now you tell me, what other qualification does he need to be referred to as Number 1?

“When my tune drop, the girls dey bounce along”

This is so true. Since his foyer into the music industry, he has dropped hot tunes that have got not only the ladies bouncing along, but the male gender as well. View some of those banging songs below…

ADVERT REVIEW: GLO OGA SIM “…I DON’T LIKE THIS ADVERT”

ADVERT REVIEW: GLO OGA SIM “…I DON’T LIKE THIS ADVERT”

“If I say I don’t like this advert, then, there’s something wrong somewhere, not with the advert, perhaps with my sight; Nna men, I love this advert, over-love dey worry me.” Likewise you, ‘yes you’, if you say “I don’t love this advert,” then there is…infact, I know you just can’t say that.

So where really have I been since the advert came out? Maka (Because), this advert di (is) interesting and hilarious. Just believe me when I say you will love this advert after watching it.

“Advert yi t get me mhen” just like Aluwe said after Toyin Abraham threw a cup on his head; Lol! The advert has got me almost rolling on the floor. But you know na, because  I was outdoor, I gatz  comport myself na, ighotara? (Do you understand?)

You need to see the way I was just shining teeth when Sola Sobowale aka #Toyin Tomato was calling her daughter- Toyin Abraham “Good girl” in the last scene, she was looking like “a-youngy a-youngy.”  She did her mouth the way all those nwata (children)used to do their mouth when they want to demand something or after their needs have been met.

LMAO, Ehen, did ya all notice the inscription on the placard in front of Sola Sobowale’s shop. It says “Ota po ju enemy Ng ltd” which when translated to English means “Enemies are more than enemies” But what is the difference between Ota and Enemy?

THE ADVERT

First scene: Two female traders that sell clothes attack each other verbally, although from a distance not face to face, as they look for customers to buy clothes from them; apparently they are rivals since they sell the same thing. The first female trader “A” (Sola Sobowale) is light skinned and she is a Yoruba woman while the second female trader “B” (Patience Ozokwo) is not too fair like the first one and she is an Igbo woman. Female trader “A” stylishly attacks female trader “B”. She says “Some have sense but cannot think” and the trader “B” replies “Some can think but have no sense.” Soon, customers troop into trader “B’s” shop shunning trader “A’s” shop.  Trader beckons on them to come to her shop but they shun her and head to trader B’s shop.

Female trader B (Acted by #Patience Ozokwor) and her daughter (Acted by #Uche Nwaefuna) are taking pictures of the clothes in their shop and uploading online through the sufficient data made available in the “Glo Oga Sim- (GOS); this drives more customers to their zone.  Trader “A” (Acted by #Sola Shobowale) oblivious of the strategy trader B and her daughter are using to get customers, strongly feels she is using magic or voodoos to divert all her customers to her zone. So, as soon as her daughter (Acted by #Toyin Abraham) who behaves like a hooligan shows up, she tells her that trader “B” is using magic to get her customers. Her daughter promises to do something about it. She makes a poster of 50 percent discount off their clothes and pastes in front of her mum’s shop.  She also puts a “Shine your eye” placard and also shouts 50 percent discount in a bid to get the customers’ to rush to their shop.

Meanwhile female trader B and daughter keep taking pictures and uploading with the prices and this pulls more customers to their zone.

Finally, a customer enters female trader A’s shop and is about to pay for the clothes she picked when she a gets a notification. She sees better clothes at better prices from another shop which happens to be Trader B’s shop. She immediately dumps the clothes to locate female trader B’s shop.

When female trader A is not happy that a customer left her shop to female trader B’s shop, so, she calls the attention of other traders to it. She accuses female trader B of using magic or voodoos to attract her customers to her own shop.

Female trader A is overwhelmed at the ignorance of trader B. She and her daughter educate her on “Glo Oga Sim” and how she has been using the sufficient data to upload pictures online and getting customers’ attention. Female trader Band her daughter after educating them on “Glo Oga Sim” afterwards calls them “useless.” This leads to an exchange of words almost generating to punches between the duo.  A male trader (Acted by Sunday Omobolanle aka Papi Aluwe) or better still the  manager hears the noise of the two traders and leaves the game he is playing with his two other friends to go and bring to an end the fight. He tries to settle the fight, but female trader A’s daughter throws a cup on him which makes him exclaim “Oti get mi” before falling to the ground. Immediately, everybody disperses to their various shops while the man is carried by his friends.

Female trader A is unhappy and transfers aggression to her daughter. She asks her daughter how she intends helping her like female trader B’s daughter and she promises to buy the Glo Oga Sim. This puts a big smile on her face and she calls her a good girl repeatedly.

SUMMARY OF THE ADVERT

The advert is about two market women selling the same thing (clothes) adjacent each other. They are rivals as one gets more customers than the other, clearly because she is on the “Glo Oga Sim” plan which gives more data to customers. She uses that opportunity to promote her business by uploading on the internet pictures of the clothes that she sells. Customers stumble on her beautiful clothes on the internet and rush to her shop to purchase them.

THE REVIEW

How won’t trader B(Patience Ozokwo) even have more customers than trader A (Sola Sobowale) Make una see shop name o, trader A’s shop name is “Ota po ju enemy Nigeria ltd” while that of trader B is “Blessed Assurance Boutique”

Anyway, that is by the way. But where was I when this advert came out? The advert features a-list actors like Patience Ozokwo aka Mama G, Sola Sobowale aka Toyin Tomato , Sunday Omobolanle aka Papi Aluwe, Toyin Abrahan and Uche Nwaefuna

I love the fact that a problem was identified (She was not making regular sales) and a solution was proffered through Glo Oga sim. In essence, with Glo Oga Sim, you have enough data to use and upload pictures of the items you sell on the internet for many people to see. This would generate more sales like in the case of female trader B

The advert has the same theme with that of Airtel’s series titled “The-in-laws” which also features a-list actors like Idowu Philips aka Iya Rainbow, Dele Odule, Ngozi Nwosu, Adedimeji Lateef and Benita Essien (The advert has been reviewed on Ogefash Blog, view here @ https://ww.ogefash.reviews on our search page)

In Aritel’s advert- The rival was between mother-in-laws and we have no idea the cause of this. It is not normal for in laws to be at rivals without any reason which they never highlighted all through the series. It is either you don’t like your in-law’s tribe or something else.

But in Glo Oga sim advert, we can clearly see why the female traders are rivals. It is common among market women or men especially those selling the same items. One person would always have more sales than the other depending on the strategy used in pushing the business and this would certainly make others envious even if they do not react in front of them, they would say evil things behind their back. This was what they brought out in the Glo Oga Sim advert.

Moving on, female trader A and female trader B were selling the same item-clothes. But female trader B had a unique strategy of doing business which brought in more customers for her than her rival. She was on the Glo Oga Sim plan.

They all acted well in the advert. Why won’t they now when they are skilled actors. I loved Sola’s expression when she untied her head gear. Also, Toyin acted the part of  “Omo ita” as in an hooligan well. Papi Aluwe’s statement “O get mi” after Toyin threw a cup on him made me laugh. Na who send am? O ti really get e ni otitan (They have truly gotten him). Madam, “Clearly” I feel your dictoin too. Mama G, Mama G! I hail o, but that last scene wey you talk, “If you no get money, hide your facebook” Was that supposed to make us laugh? “Rili, I can clearly see that it is not easy being a comedian. You can see that she was even the only one that laughed. I am sure others would have asked in their minds “Wetin dey make this woman laugh na”

Then when that customer in female trader A’s shop quickly saw clothes from Trader B’s shop on the internet, I com begin dey think say “Glo Oga Sim” also has a Whatsapp group or something.

Some over interesting scenes

The last scene where Sola Sobowale had a big smile and was saying “Good girl”; that indeed got me laughing

Also, Papi Aluwe’s scene where he said “Oti get me” which means “They have gotten me

Toyin also acted the tout or hooligan role perfectly…

And the rivals; they act am well

SIMILARITY IN THE AIRTEL’S “THE-IN-LAWS” AND GLO’S “OGA SIM” ADVERTS

  • A mixture of both Yoruba and English actors and a model
  • The same theme of rival (But at least, Glo no make anybody look like “Zombie”, if you know what I mean…)

JUST WONDERING

  • What exactly are their names? Clearly, they had no name in mind for them when shooting the advert. Sola sobowale said “Omoinu e, omo inu e is helping her mother.” Ehen, it is not only “Omo inu e” what of “omo inu wan”. By the way Omo inu e means a woman’s child
  • Those prices for Female trader B’s clothes are ridiculous, as in so ridiculous! Theyshould have used something realistic.
  • What did Mama-G say in that last part after they threw a cup at Papi Aluwe “clapapa clapapa clapapa”, any translation please? Or does it mean, clear the road?
  • Hide your face book o, was that supposed to make viewers laugh? I think not because that was far from funny, clearly to be a comedian isn’t easy
  • Trader B sells only adult clothes while trader A sells children clothes only, so there was really no sense in the customer leaving her shop. They should have looked for another shop for trader A with adult clothes. The only adult cloth was the one on that mannequin which I can categorically say that they borrowed from the shops around
  • The way the customer in Trader A’s shop saw the picture, I was beginning to think that all Glo Oga Sim Users have a Whatsapp group or something
  • So for how long are new customers going to enjoy the 125% bonus

SOUND: Instrumentals alone; fair enough

REMARK: I love the advert, very hilarious and interesting to watch. They were all of good performance. I was not expecting anything less, I mean they are all star actors and are known for interpreting roles well. They were very audible and I didn’t have to strain my ears to hear what any of them said.

“Ah ah” this song “Supa” has to mean “Super” Yansh (ass) and nothing more. Even concentrating on the entire song for its review was quite difficult as “Babs” Camera decided to make the ladies ass’ the main focus of the video which was quite distracting.

All I heard in  most part of this song was just “So nice, supa” “Your body so nice” which was taken by Nigerian artiste #Wizkid. The chorus literally dominated the song anyway. Infact in the 4 minutes 1 second of the track, the chorus was sung five times.

Meanwhile, I am wondering,  the chorus “So nice, supa…” does it just mean a lady that has a nice physique and nothing more? Or a lady with a Supa big “yansh” for sex ? From the video, it looks like the latter. But what else would it mean? A song that the camera focuses on the bum of ladies like I said earlier, they were practically almost naked and were whining their bum to the camera.

God of mercy! Even as I was watching the video for review, I almost…; hmmm, lips sealed for now..If you have got a different view, kindly fill in the comment box.

THE REVIEW

This is a song by Ghanaian artistes- R2bees and it features a Nigerian artiste- Wizkid

Lyrically, the song comes in three verses; Wizkid took the first verse while R2bees comprising Mugeez and Faisal took the second and third verses respectively. The chorus was taken by Wizkid alone and it was sung five times while the pre-chorus was done twice by R2bees alone.

This arrangement of the song: Chorus-Verse 1 (Wizkid)-Pre Chorus (R2bees)- Verse 2 (R2bees Mugeez)- Pre Chorus (R2bees)- Chorus (Wizkid)-Bridge (R2bees)- Verse 3 (R2bees Faisal)- Chorus (Wizkid)- Bridge (R2bees)-Chorus (Wizkid)

The song has meaning as it basically eulogizes a lady’s body. It was sung basically in pidgin but R2bees fused it with Ghanaian language. However, the chorus was sung in standard and unadulterated English.

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the Chorus, “So nice (Supa). So nice (Supa)” Starboy/Wizkid eulogizes the body of a lady. He describes the lady’s body as one that is attractive, pleasant and excellent.

In the verse 1, “I fit do anything for your love. Omoge I do marathon” Wizkid/Starboy says he can do anything to earn the love of a certain lady. He says she is tall and also has a body that is pleasing. He says how much he longs for her even in her absence. He guarantees her that he can have long-winded sex “Omoge I fit do Marathon”

“I fit do Marathon” in the context of this song may mean he can have long-winded sex with her. Any other idea, kindly fill in the comment box

“Don’t leave me on the road” in the context of this song may mean the lady should not leave him at that moment he has the sexual urge or not to abscond or pull out when he has just started enjoying her sexually or their sexual escapade.

In the pre-chorus “Oh my baby you be evident yeah eh. You no dey try to be relevant no oh” R2bees says that the lady doesn’t need to do anything that is attention grabbing of flashy to get men’s attention or people to notice her. This is because her excellent physique alone commands attention, with or without any activity. The artistes plead with their ladies to stay faithful to them and not give their bodies to other men even if they are also drawn to their nice physique. In essence, they should be faithful.

In the verse 2, “Mami Kawa Sinbi. Me I no get nobody, na you be the only one” Mugeez is seen complementing his lady. He calls her his goddess or queen. He assures her that she is the only woman in his life and he is a faithful spouse.

“And if you show me body, me I go show you the only one” I can’t really decipher the second part of this line.

In the verse 3 “This love no be give and take. We were meant to be, e no be mistake” Faisal says his love for his lady is unconditional. In essence, there is nothing attached to the kind of love he has for her. He loves her for who she is. So we can say he loves her genuinely not because of her voluptuous physique. He also says people are beefing their kind of genuine love. He says she is charming, confident and stands out among others. He also says she is unbeatable. These features are among the things that made his woman win a beauty pageant.

“We dey wake, we dey bake, dem dey hate we dey ditch” “The new vans got you a pair” I am trying to decipher these lines, if you can, kindly fill in the comment box

WHAT DOES THE SONG “SUPA” BY R2BEES FT WIZKID MEAN

The song basically talks about the beauty of a lady’s body. It also talks about a special kind of girl that is unbeatable body wise. The artistes eulogize a lady’s body in a seductive way that seems they want to get into the pants of the lady. May be like a body that had be super for sex; the video tells it all as it focuses majorly on a lady’s ass; a big yansh.

MEANING OF SOME WORDS
Nice: Good, very fine ; Super: Excellent quality, great, magnificent, extraordinary

Marathon: Any extended activity, long-drawn-out; Evident: Obvious

Relevant: Important; Makoma- The one someone’s heart desires

Susu- A form of savings

SOUND

Tuneful! Mid-tempo though; it is neither fast or slow. It however looks like a sampled beat. It sounds like supernatural love.

COSTUME

The ladies wore mostly bikini while the artistes wore casual

LOCATION

It was shot mostly outdoor. They used a beach. Although, there were indoor shoots also (club- where they were playing snookers and the bar where Faisal’s scene was shot), but that was towards the end of the song.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

The track talks about the pleasing state of a lady’s body and it made sure the ladies were only on bikini to emphasize this. The video however is so dull.

(+LYRICS+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: GINA BY BECCA FT. KIZZ DANIEL “THIS IS WHY THIS SONG IS NOT PLAYED OFTEN!”

(+LYRICS) MUSIC REVIEW: GINA BY BECCA FT. KIZZ DANIEL

(Follow on IG @ogefash_july4)

“THIS IS WHY THIS SONG IS NOT PLAYED OFTEN!”

So, maybe you should tell me rather than wait for my own reason why “You” as an OAP and DJ  don’t play this “Gina” song often? This song is dope and should not be found missing in any playlist. Some people just don’t know correct gbedu sha

“Gina” is a song by Ghanaian artiste- #Becca and it features Nigerian artiste- Kizz Daniel. This is another interesting song that I expect to have massive airplay on all medium of broadcast, but of course, some of these broadcast channels surely know how to pick songs or artistes that favour them or should I say that are favoring them; if you know what I mean.

The song “Gina” comes with great beat drum which enhances the beauty of the song. For me, I think I enjoyed the chorus more than any other part of the song, maybe not lyric wise, but the tone and the way they were expressive; they really put real feelings in the chorus as in they were so emotional. The video is colourful and interesting to watch. Take a gander at the lyrics below

THE REVIEW

Lyrically, meaningful but yet some lines are not just connecting or should I say they were not properly organised. How do we explain “I don die for the matter. And I go soon cry for the matter”

If person don die, how cry wan come out for im eye na?

Kizz Daniel did not make us see those qualities that make Gina stunning, he only said she is too much; that doesn’t tell us anything about her personality.

“I want to make you love again” This line makes it look like Gina has been heart broken  before or several times and doesn’t want to give another man a chance; but no scene reflects this line in the video

“Take my hand and fly away with me. Am surely gonna miss you when you leave Aro oh uhhhh”

Leave to where? Is it death or jilt? Is he/she wishing her/him away? Is that line necessary?

“You know I bad and I better. Ask all of dem wey dey toast ya”

How can she/he ask others that are toasting her/him about you?How exactly will the toasters know about you?

The song has two verses. The verse 1 was taken by Kizz Daniel while the Verse 2 was taken by Becca. The bridge, pre-chorus and chorus were taken twice. The song was done majorly in English but it was fused with some pidgin.
