  • The competition titled ‘#IStayActive’ Contest will be conducted through the Facebook page (Facebook.com/Olympic Nigeria), Twitter (twitter.com/olympicnigeria) and Instagram account (Instagram.com/olympicnigeria) of the Olympic Milk brand. The competition is open to all citizens of Nigeria 18 years of age and above, who are users of the Internet. Participants are eligible only if they have a valid address in Nigeria.

 

  • The participation in the Contest implies full acceptance of these terms and conditions, the terms of use of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and any other website used for the participation and conduct of the Contest. You understand that you are providing your information to PZ  Nigeria and not to Facebook.

 

  • All entries will be checked by the contest administrator. Any report or comment of participants which has abusive, defamatory or in any way offensive content and rumors for the Organizer or any natural or legal person and any reference offending the good morals or legality, at the sole and absolute discretion of the Organizer, will be excluded from the Contest. The Organizer has also the ability to exclude any Contest participant performing malicious actions in this Contest.

 

  • Exclusion of participants: The employees of PZ Nigeria and supporting agencies and their immediate families and spouses are excluded from the Contest. Any participation by these persons in the Contest in violation of this term shall be considered automatically void.

 

  • Activation duration: The contest will run from 21st July to 1st September (“Contest period”). All entries received outside the Contest period shall be automatically disqualified.

  • Multiple answers are not allowed on either of the same or different Facebook name/Instagram account.

 

  • The submission of these data takes place entirely at the responsibility of the participants and is a statement of participation in the Contest and an acceptance of these terms and conditions. The file the Organizer will keep with the participants’ information will constitute conclusive evidence regarding the participation in the Contest and the validity of such participation, in accordance with the term no 8 below. By entering the Contest, the participants declare that they accept explicitly and unconditionally the messaging (via Facebook/Instagram/) or the phone call informing them by the Organizer.

 

  • Prizes: The Contest prizes are personalized and the winners do not have the right to exchange them with money or something else or offset them with other offers or another Contest’s prizes in the future.

  • Participation validity: As “valid participation” is considered any participation in the Contest for which the following are cumulative:

  • Announcement – Receipt of prizes: Winners will be announced as noted above. The winners, when they see their name, will be contacted by private message via  Facebook page/Instagram/Twitter mentioning their full name, a phone number and an email address, in which they can be reached. PZ Nigeria will contact the winners within the next 5 working days. If a winner fails to appear or refuses the prize, it will be transferred to the substitute winner and if the substitute winner fails to appear or refuses the prize too, it will be automatically returned to the Organizer. The winners will receive their prizes by using a government issued identity card.

 

  • Submission of entries does not guarantee an endorsement as an ambassador by the Olympic Milk brand.

 

  • Participants are required to act lawfully and within the context of good morals. The participation in this Contest implies the explicit and unconditional consent of the participants for entry of personal data, which will be kept on a file by the Organizer for the purposes of this promotion and for the required time for the purpose. Participants provide the explicit consent and authorization to the Organizer for the promotion and its results exposure, including the identity of the winners, through  radio/TV and through the printed and electronic press or the internet, without paying any fees or compensations. A very interesting song that I found myself almost using it as choir ministration during one of the church services…lol! Well just kidding.

But really, this tune has got me singing non-stop; very interesting I must say.

I was at a loss as to which catalogue to throw it into,whether music or advert? I just had to settle for the latter.

This advert is pretty long. I am sure the TV and radio versions would have been trimmed into one minute. Just like UBA’s “919 dance” advert/music video, one may think the song is by a group of artiste called “Inspire”
So, like I asked when reviewing “UBA’s 919” advert (which of course has a similar tune to this GTB’s song) who is still singing the “737” song? Keep singing it, as long as you don’t miss out the real message in the advert. So what is the message in the advert? THE ADVERT

The first verse by the lead vocalist male, the singer talks about having a lot of bills to pay, such as…(this was not mentioned, perhaps they want customers to be curious about what services they can enjoy when they dial the code). Rather than visit the bank, he picks up his phone, dials code *737# without data connection and he settles his bills.

The second verse by the lead vocalist male and others, they all talk about how easy and fast as JET it is banking with the mobile phone. They go on to mention people that the code is beneficial for, but as long as they are registered with the bank.

THE REVIEW
One thing that indeed stands GTB from other banks is that they are pace setters, they lead and other banks follow.

It is one bank with imaginative, matchless and never thought of innovations. The bank is also surrounded with creative team members. They were the first to start the internet banking, GTBank Mobile app, etc. They were also the first to start this mobile phone service which allows people do their transactions from their mobile phone without moving an inch from their comfort zone. Other banks have afterwards followed suit.

Anyway, that is by the way.
I feel like from the melodious tune alone and creative lyrics, I have done the review; it is a 100%.

Okay, to the real review
GTB used this melodious tune to pass across its message to customers and impending customers. The advert lasted for 3minutes 49 seconds. It has one male lead vocalist and one female lead vocalist.
Lyrically it is well composed, imaginative and meaningful. I just love the advert, especially where the female lead singer took to the stage to sing, her vocal was very appealing, lyrics were meaningful and she was very expressive, they were all expressive though but she was more expressive than all of them.

To be honest, I kept on singing this tune even after completing the whole review. Just like I mentioned when I reviewed the UBA Advert, I also think the real message should have been displayed on the screen; though what makes GTB’s advert different was that they wanted their customers to be curious about what the code offers. But in as much as the lead vocalist male already mentioned “pay your bills”, then the suspense isn’t there anymore.

In all honesty, an advert done using music to pass across the message may have viewers get carried away by the melodious tune and the lovely images on screen. At the end, it would just be nothing but a song to them with no idea of its message, even if they sing it countless times.

MESSAGE IN THE ADVERT
There is already an easy way to banking provided by the owners of GTB. Customers don’t need to leave their comfort zone, they do not need to go to the bank to do transactions, all they need to do is grab their mobile phone and dial *737# and it will run all errands for them such as fund transfer, airtime recharge, open a bank account, buy data, bill payment, basically for all purposes; just dial “737#”. What the customers need is a phone; it doesn’t require data

SOUND: Very tuneful. UBA has almost the same tune, so I am wondering if the same person composed the songs for the banks. Also, all those that had one or two lines to sing in this advert sang well. When the lead vocalist female took the high note she did not get screechy. She had a distinctive vocal and was very expressive

Costume: A touch of orange, but not all though. You may wonder why they have a touch of orange; well that is the bank’s colour.

THUMBS UP: I love the part they constructed 737 with those blocks.

JUST WONDERING
The message should have been clearly written out on the screen. When an advert is done in form of a song, the target audience may miss out the real message because they tend to focus more on the images and get carried away by the melodious tune, thereby missing out the message.
