(+PICTURES)THE GREEDY PAT AND THE GREEDY RAT

(THE SCRIPT)

Once upon a time, there lived three close friends Peter, Paul and Pat.
Peter, Paul and Pat were really close that they lived together, played together, laughed together, dined together, moved around together; they virtually did everything together.
They didn’t have good jobs and and so they couldn’t afford a good accommodation.
Every end of the month, the three friends contributed money from their purses for home keep
While Peter and Paul contributed 50% of their earnings, Pat contributed only 5% of his earnings. Peter and Paul thought Pat’s earning was really low, not knowing that Pat was earning more than them and was hiding his money inside the nylon he hid in the ceiling.
So, whenever Pat was paid, he would open one of the ceilings as usual & throw the money in the nylon.
Whenever Pat hides money in the ceiling, there always came an hungry rat, angry that there was nothing edible in the nylon
So, why was Pat hiding his money in the ceiling? He was simply greedy; he wanted to have all to himself.

While Peter and Paul were generous with their things, Pat was tight-fisted with his things and always lied that he didn’t have; even though he constantly took from his friends
Peter loved to dance, Paul loved to write while Pat loved to cook.
 So, one day, they decided to start going for competitions in order to have more money in their purse.
Peter went for a dance competition; he won and shared the money and goodies with his friends. Pat with an outstretched hand collected from him almost demanding more.
Paul went for a writing competition; he won and shared the money and goodies with his friends. Pat with an outstretched arm collected from him almost demanding more.
Pat went for a cooking competition. He also won; he was given money and goodies.
But did Pat share with his friends? No! He opened the ceiling and threw it into his nylon of money. While he ate some edibles he was given, he sold others.
“And there came this hungry Rat, upset that there was nothing edible in the nylon, so it went its way.”
Edible means something you can eat

So, when Peter and Paul got back from work, they asked one after the other, “Oh, Pat, so how was the competition”
And Pat with a sad face and tears almost spilling down his cheeks replied, “Oh friends, I lost out in the competition”. “Don’t worry, one day, I know I will surprise you guys.”
And Peter and Paul feeling so sorry for Pat consoled him. “Sorry, Pat, one day, there will be a lot of money flying into your path and ours” Peter said, while Paul nodded in agreement.
Another competition came and they all went. Peter again won the competition; he shared his money and goodies with his friends, while Pat as usual almost demanded more. Paul also won; he shared the money and goodies with his friends while Pat as usual almost demanded more. Pat also won and was given money and goodies.
But did Pat share with his friends? No! He opened the ceiling and threw it into his nylon of money. While he ate some edibles he was given, he sold others.

So, when Peter and Paul got back from work, they asked one after the other, “Oh, Pat, so how was the competition.”
And Pat with a sad face and tears almost spilling down his cheeks replied, “Oh friends, I lost out in the competition again”. “Don’t worry, one day, I know I will surprise you guys.”
Peter and Paul feeling so sorry for him consoled him again. “Sorry, Pat, one day, there will be a lot of money flying into your path and ours” Peter said, while Paul nodded in agreement.
The two friends of Pat, even went as far as giving him more things from what they garnered in the competitions they won, and of course, Pat with an outstretched hand grabbed them, almost demanding more…
So Pat did this for a very very long time, and his friends kept consoling him for a very long time. At times when Peter and Paul were out of the house, Pat would open the ceiling, bring down his nylon of money and then count, count and count his money. And he would smile, smile and smile at himself “I am surely a smart ass,” Pat would say after counting.
But one day, there came just one competition, and that was the food competition. So, Peter, Paul and Pat all went for the same competition. And that day, it so rained cat and dog.
What do I mean by it rained cat and dog? That is it rained heavily.
Peter and Paul were knocked out of the competition leaving just one man standing.
And who was that man? Pat of course! He won lots of money and goodies. So, his friends rejoiced with him, happy that finally, Pat has won a competition and a lot of money indeed came flying his path.

(+MEANING OF EACH SCENE) ADVERT REVIEW: MTN’S ‘MY SUPER WOMAN’ ADVERT ”

This advert was basically shot to celebrate Mother’s Day, hence different mothers from the major tribes were used to represent mothers nationwide in this advert. The advert is literally emphasizing the dynamic world of women; there is no one like Iya, Nne, Uwar

Women are always up and doing.

WATCH ADVERT HERE

At the beginning of the advert, a mother tries to fix her son’s toy car. She searches google on her tab and uses it as a guide. She fixes the toy after which she hands it to her son. This puts a wide smile on the boy’s face as he leaves the room jumping with joy. This scene

emphasizes that a mother is always availablle to help their children any time or any day; she is ready to offer help in all ways. She would always find a way to solve a problem and would never give up till a solution is proffered and this of course puts a smile on a child’s face “you are super woman, you save the world all the time…”

The second scene tries to explain the the length at which a mother would go to do things not minding the risk in it. It also explains the strength of a woman. Hence the word “you put off fire with your bare hands”

The third/fourth scenes explain that even as caring/nice a mother can be, she can also be strict as well, but it is for the good of the children. She also coordinates and makes sure things are in order. She ensures there is peace and unity among the children and disciplines an erring child in order for the child to know the wrongs from the rights… “You end riot immediately…”

The fifth scene explains that even out of nothing, a mother still struggles to cater for her children and other children “You feed a whole nation from a tiny pot”

The sixth scene explains how a mother still thinks about their children and creates time for them even in her busy schedule.

The seventh scene explains the soothing nature of a mother, who is always able to calm her children when they are troubled “You give the generation peace with the sound of your voice”

The eight scene explains how a mother always looks out for her children every minute including the sleeping hour. It shows that a mother’s heart is never far away from her children, she thinks about them always, even if there is a great distance between her and her kids “ You never really sleep, you are too busy, looking out on your children”

The ninth scene explains the nature of mothers who are always up and doing. Hardly do you see them idle, they work like 22/7, they hardly have enough rest. In the day they are preparing children for school, later to laundry, cooking, and a host of others, the only time they do not work is when they are sleeping.

But the moment they are awake, work has started for them. “And when the sun comes back up in the sky, they find you, asking you why it took so long…”

The tenth scene, children gather to celebrate their mother because of her undaunting love for them and how she keeps taking care of them ‘Thanks for showing us love…”

I totally love this MTN advert, tried to find faults but didn’t find any. From the setting to the people featured in the advert and so on; all were terrific and the people used were very expressive, not just their mothers alone, but the kids as well. One could decipher what was going on from their facial expression. There were about ten scenes, but none of the people featured in the advert talked, because there was already a narrator whose voice sounds like that of a child. The child is indeed a great narrator!

I ONLY SMOKE NIGERIAN NATURAL GRASS NOT… “SAYS FEMI KUTI”

Femi Kuti, one of the sons of the late afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, who is the exact replica of his father had a lot to say at the shrine he manages with his sister~Yeni Kuti “The New Afrika Shrine”

Yesterday, thousands of fans garnered at the shrine to watch his scintillating and energetic performance.

Femi Kuti while on stage sang about the continuous suffering and struggle of the citizens of the country. He didnt stop there, he went on to mention the names of leaders that brought and are still bringing the country down; think you know he called?

Femi Kuti also took some time out to chat with his fans where he told them what he has facing in the hands of the Federal Government and the NDLEA.

According to him, the NDLEA (The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) kept on writing petition against him. The singer said they accused him of abetting those into drugs as well as those into other wrong doings. But Femi told his fans that he doesnt encourage such and repeatedly warned them not to smoke in his shrine. He told them to go and smoke in their house and die there If they want to.

He revealed to those present at the shrine that he doesn’t smoke weed but smokes the Nigerian Natural Grass (LOL)~ which he just tasted twice and has ever since stopped taking it because it is of no good.

Femi went on to say that If the NDLEA keeps writing petition against him because they think they are the only educated people who can write, that he would oneday write his petition against them.

The singer didnt stop there, he also let his fans know that the FG has been frustrating his effort just like they did to his father and that the journalists are also writing bad things about him, but that wont bring down his spirit. After chatting his fans up, they cheered him up after which he continued singing
