ADVERT REVIEW- VEET HR CREAM “COLOURFUL YET MUDDLESOME…”SO, HOW EXACTLY IS DOUBLE TROUBLE SYNONYMOUS TO A SHAVING STICK OR CREAM?”

We are now on IG @ogefashblog

The only thing that makes this advert fascinating to watch is the fact that it is very colourful, but wetin come concern “Double trouble” with shaving stick abi na hair removal cream? What exactly is the correlation? Can’t seem to decipher…

THE ADVERT

Lady A walks in and joins two of her other pals~ Lady B and Lady C. The three ladies want to go to the beach to have fun. To know If Ladies B and C are fully set for the beach, Lady A asks If they have their sunglasses and music player with them. Ladies B and C show Lady A the requested items as well as reply “Yes”. Next, Lady A asks both Ladies B and C about “Double trouble” (I don’t seem to understand that part. Was she asking them “Double trouble” as per an “item” too to take to the beach or as per what would give them double trouble on the beach? If it is the latter, then the dialogue does not flow) and Lady B brings out a shaving stick. Lady A counters it and recommends the Veet Hair removal Cream (VHRC)

Next scene, the three ladies are seen having fun on the beach.

THE REVIEW

I don’t even know what to say about this advert. I was enjoying the advert till the Lady A asked Ladies B and C “Double trouble” to which Lady B brought out a shaving stick. So what exactly is the correlation between Shaving stick and double trouble?

To make it more confusing, Lady A now brought out Veet hair removal cream. So what is the correlation between Veet hair removal cream and double trouble? Are they taking the hair removal cream to the beach as well? When did people start adding hair removal cream as one of the items to pack to the beach.

Again, I ask, how does the word “double trouble” relate with shaving stick or hair removal cream? I really hope I find someone to explain this.

Moving on, VEET is an hair removal cream, yet all the ladies were already shaved before they applied the cream on their body. There was no trace of hair on their skin and they still applied the Veet hair removal cream on their various skins. So what does the cream want to remove again on an already shaved skin? Flesh?

Couldn’t they have gotten a model who was hairy or perhaps use the computer to attach some hair on their skins? If they had done this, the advert would have been more convincing as viewers would see how effective the cream is.

The advert does not show viewers what the problem is, it only showed them solution to a problem; it doesn’t even emphasize on how to solve the problem.

Whew! By the way, their attires and the advert setting are nice

JUST WONDERING

  • The correlation with double trouble and shaving stick or hair removal cream.
  • Shaving an already shaved part, smh
  • Lady A was asking for items they are taking along to the beach like their sunglasses, music player, so do they now carry hair removal cream to the beach. I can’t connect the dialogue; it just doesn’t flow…

COSTUME: Beauteous

SOUND: Instrumentals; quite melodious

REMARK: Colourful advert and interesting to watch, however, their usage of word is muddling

DURATION: 30 SECONDS
