(+LYRICS+MEANING) ONE MORE NIGHT BY MR.P FT NINIOLA “WHY DID THAT GIRL DO HER EYES LIKE…”

We are now on IG@ogefashblog

Have you been looking for how to learn and dance that “Zanku Leg work Dance” originated by Zlatan? Don’t search further, this “One more night” song by Mr. p featuring Niniola will teach you very well.

I remember when the video to the song “Ebeano” by Mr. P came out (View the review here https://ogefash.reviews/2018/08/15/lyrics-music-review-ebeano-by-mr-p-this-body-is-ebeano-mbok/), I fixedly watched their dance moves and also tried it out, this perfected my Shaku Shaku moves. So, away from the dance in the video, wetin that guy dey try to achieve in the video? I hope the guy as well as the director of the video (Mr.P) were not trying to make viewers laugh because he was not funny a bit. Abeg, if you have an idea what his role was in the video, kindly fill me in.

THE REVIEW

First of all,I love the fact that every of Mr. P’s new release always start with the background tune from his previous song.

Away from the previous song and back to this new song, I love the hook “Gwagwalada o Gwagwalada, gwagwalada o gwagwalada” but I have a feeling that this is my own version and not exactly what the artistes sang; they were not audible enough.

Lyrically, I don’t know what to make out of this song, some mumbo-jumbo lyrics especially that of Ninola. The lyrics were not just connecting at all. The lyrics were in disarray. It seems to me like the artistes focused more on the  chorus “One more night” which ended up affecting the entire lyrics.

The artistes sang basically in Pidgin although Niniola fused it with Yoruba

Song arrangement– Intro- Verse 1- Chorus- Hook- Verse 2- Mr.P- Chorus- Hook- Chorus; the lyrics are really in disarray

The song talks about the desire of two adults to spend one more night with each other.

BREKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the intro, “You say I be your tomato” Niniola reminds Mr.P about the pet name he calls her. She desires to have one more night with him.

In the Verse 1 “I know you’re high and you wanna get down tonight” Mr. P emphasizes how much he wants to get down with his lady- Niniola. Seeing how intoxicated she is, Mr.P feels she also wants to get down with him as much as he wants to with her. He implores her that they should get to it without wasting time. To get her subdued quickly, he brags about his wealth.

In the Chorus “Give me one more night” the artistes are fascinated about each other and want to be with eachother even if is just for one more night.
In the verse 2 “Sho ni moto ti mo ma gu’n?” Niniola lets us know that Mr.P is fascinated about her.  She lets us know the effect she has on him, hence the reason she is initially trying to prove hard to get. She eventually tells him that  to have someone like her, he must be willing to spend.

WHAT DOES THE SONG ONE MORE NIGHT BY MR. P FT NINIOLA MEAN

The song “One more night” is about two adults that are fascinated about each other and want to spend the night together one more time; although sexually.

LOCATION

It was shot in Nigeria; indoor scenes only.

COSTUME

Costumely! Glittering attires. The female dancers were all on bum shorts while Niniola wore a glittering short gown. The ladies were all looking colourful.

Mr.P and his dancers were all on suit and jacket but their ties suddenly went missing; they did not wear ties. Was that intentional? Anyway, they were looking nice personally (If you know what I mean)

SOUND

Interesting tune! The drum beat and the shakers made the music interesting to the ears. At some point though, I struggled to ear what the artistes were saying, especially the “hook” part of the song ‘Gwagwalada…”

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Ghen ghen, this is what you call the display of “Zanku leg-work dance”. Interesting choreography I must say.  I love their energetic dance; their dance moves actually synced with the beat. Great visuals, but it is not too clear though!

JUST WONDERING

  • Why did this girl do her eye in such manner, like someone that is…(Please complete for me) ; that was not sexy but exasperating
  • Was this dude supposed to make us laugh? Well sorry he did not achieve that purpose. I do not even understand his role…

THE REVIEW

Was I expecting a non sexual song from Starboy Terri? I don’t think so. From his lyrics in the song “Soco” (View the review here https://ogefash.reviews/2018/07/11/lyrics-translation-music-review-soco-ft-wizkid-terri-spotless-ceeza-milli-what-is-really-still-keeping-this-song-on-airwaves/) I could surely tell that his lyrics in other songs would always follow that trail.

Lyrically, the song comes in only one verse “Kind of loving…” which was repeated once. The Chorus ”Oh put this booty on me” took the chunk part of the song, he sang it eight times. While the pre-chorus “Baby gimmie body” was done three times. The bridge “Shey you know” was taken once. It is a well composed song. The lyrics flow well and are in array. The lyrics have sexual tone. The artist is fascinated about a lady who he desires to have her body. The artist sang in pidgin all through the song.

Song Arrangement: Intro- Prechorus- Chorus (2x)- Verse 1- Prechorus- Chorus (2x)- Bridge- Verse 1- Prechorus- Chorus (4x)

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the Pre-chorus, “Baby gimme body!” Terri desires to have a lady he is so fascinated about. He has been waiting so long to have her and he hopes she will not turn him down.

In the chorus, “Oh put this booty on me” the artist implores the lady he is fascinated about to put her ass down on him; as in have sex with him. He says he loves the way she moves when she is on him “And I love the way you dance when you put it on me.” In essence, he loves her moves when they are having sex.

He also says he is wealthy and he is capable of satisfying all her needs- financially, materially and otherwise. The chorus basically talks about the sexual satisfaction he gets when this lady is on him.

In the Verse 1 “Kind of loving no be one wey dem dey take play” the artiste emphasizes how much effect the lady has got on him. He says she is not the type of lady to take for granted. He says his love for her will never tremble and he will always be on her side.

In the bridge, “Shey you know? Shey you know? Say I no look their side at all” the artiste vows that he has no eye for other ladies aside her. He says her body drives him crazy and makes him feel intoxicated.

WHAT IS THE SONG “ON ME” BY TERRI ABOUT

The song “On me” by Terri no doubt has a sexual tone. The song is about a lady that the artist is fascinated with or better still sexually attracted to and he desires to have sex with her as well as take care of her needs if she agrees to. The chorus tells it all “Oh put this booty on me, anything wey you want, say it’s all on me(aha). My type na biggie money, and I love the way you dance, when you  put it on me”

MEANING OF SOME WORDS

put it on me– To put ones self on someone else in a sexual nature, to have sex.

All on me– When someone volunteers to be responsible for something; Gobe– trouble

LOCATION

The video was shot in Nigeria; they used both outdoor and indoor (Bar) scenes.

COSTUME

Hmm! I am still thinking of what to make out of their costume. You know what, I leave it open for all readers. So what do you think about their costume? Fill us in…

SOUND

I love this beat, so melodious! The rhythm flows well. Terri was consistent with the style of rhythm. His vocal was interesting to listen to. Terri is no doubt an interesting singer. By the way, Terri was just blushing all through the song sha; it is okay, it is allowed..

Yeah, that reminds me, he sings like #Wizkid, what ya think? Kindly let me know

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Fair; I don’t really like the digital effects.

(LYRICS+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: AJE BY JAYWON “THIS SONG HAS A SUICIDE TONE; CAN’T RESTRAIN SUICIDE ATTEMPTERS”

We are now on IG @ogefashblog

Inasmuch as I love this song, I just can’t help but think that it has the tendency to push people to commit suicide than restraining them like the artiste may have intended. Some of those lines in the song that may push one to commit suicide will be shared in the main review. But first, take a gander at the lyrics below…

THE REVIEW

I so love this Jaywon’s  song that I played it non-stop; like I literally the song over the number of times I usually play a song before reviewing it.  So why do I think this song has this suicide tone that can push one to commit suicide rather than restrain them? View the lines below…

“Can’t lie, can’t lie, can’t wait no more” (Discourages the patience of a person that is frustrated and is attempting suicide)

“Suicide na the only thing wey dey come” (Makes those attempting suicide think they have no other option than to commit suicide)

“Bless me before it gets too late” (If God doesn’t bless people on time, then, they can go ahead and commit suicide.)

Although, later, there was  the male voice over  by  Kenny Ogungbe where he encouraged the artiste and other people attempting suicide not to do so.  I was expecting the singer to sing a line to counter that suicide call.

Lyrically, this is a well written song. The words flow perfectly with the beat. The song has one verse. The pre-chorus, chorus and hook were taken twice each and were pretty short. The lyrics are original, deep and motivating. People may be responsive to the lyrics, they may not respond to the latter part of the song where Kenny Ogungge advised people to be patient, but in the beginning of the song where the artist sang “Can’t lie, can’t wait no more” and “Suicide na the onl thing wey dey call”

But, the song is very meaningful as it talks about enduring hardship and turning down suicide call in the midst of suffering. The artist sang mostly in Yoruba, pidgin and standard English.

The song arrangement- Pre chorus- Chorus- Hook- Verse 1- Pre chorus- Chorus- Hook- Interlude

For me, the lines below were my best…

“Eleda mi ma sun (My creator don’t sleep), gbe ire ko mi, ki Ire mi ma ko ja mi (Let goodness touch me, do not let my goodness pass me by). Eleda mi ma sun (My creator don’t sleep), ma jen ki je ya juu (Do not let me suffer too much), kin to ri se laye (Before I see something to do on earth)

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the Pre-chorus, “Can’t lie, can’t lie…” Jaywon emphasizes how tired he is of the unpleasant situation he is facing; he is tired of suffering and he is also tired of waiting. He says he can’t endure the suffering any longer as he intends killing himself

In the chorus, “Aje jowo wa mi ri” the artiste is tired of suffering. He begs wealth and goodness to locate him before he kills himself. He says suffering is not like a pot of soup

In the hook, “Something must to change” the artist yearns for a transformation in his life; from nothing to something, zero to hero, poverty to prosperity; from grass to grace

In the verse 1, “Feels like I am the only one” we can see how depressed the artist is. He feels lonely as no one calls him again, the only thing calling him is suicide. Even though he is working hard, he feels he is not making headway in life which makes him want to attempt suicide. He however begs that his creator shouldn’t sleep on his matter or shouldn’t make him suffer too much, but bless him on time before he yields to suicide call.

In the interlude “Don’t give up- Broadcaster- Kenny Ogungbe advises people to keep striving irrespective of the challenges they are facing because they are very close to becoming victorious.

WHAT DOES THE SONG AJE BY JAYWON MEAN

The song basically talks about the artiste being tired of his current predicament. It talks about people that are working hard but are yet to make headway which leaves them in a state of depression. In their depressed state, such people think suicide is the solution to their case.

Therefore “Aje” by Jaywon is a song where the artiste prays for wealth. The artiste implores his creator for a turn around before he yields to the constant suicide call in his heart. He implores his creator to make wealth and goodness locate him on time before he commits suicide.

LOCATION

It was shot in Lagos, Nigeria; mostly outdoor scenes.

COSTUME

I initially kicked off the black costume, but when I looked at the whole theme of the song,  I just had to agree on the costume. So it is safe to say it complements the message of the track. He was casually dressed.

SOUND: Very tuneful, memorable and original. I love the fact that he was very expressive as he sang the lyrics. His vocal was convincing  and heartfelt. His lyrics flowed well with the rhythm. He was also unswerving with the style of rhythm.  I love the piano interludes, very interesting to the ears.

Great beat drums as well. The drums were introduced in the chorus @ the 35 seconds of the song. There was also no issue with his pitch range.

VIDEO

The video complements the track.  He was very expressive which made the video interesting to watch. The roaming around the street hopelessly really was to emphasize how frustrated he was of his predicament.

THE REVIEW

Those that are beefing this song, make them go chop raw beef with bitter leaf (OYO) or better still opt for a sweetener to sweeten their hearts so they can love the song at all cost when they are watching the video, opari (Finished); dope track, if you are hating, you are only killing yourself.

Lyrically, the lyrics are well arranged. Although the song has two verses, what dominated the song was the Pre chorus, Chorus, and the hook, these were taken 3 times. Davido sang basically in Pidgin, although in the verse 2, he sang only in Yoruba.

The song is meaningful as it talks about women who are exceptional and are equally successful in their chosen careers.

Song arrangement– Intro- Per-chorus- Chorus- Verse 1- Hook- Pre chorus- Chorus- Verse 2- Hook- Pre chorus- Chorus/Outro

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the Pre Chorus, “Shey na you wan go near my bae” Davido dares those who think they can attack his girlfriend (Verbally or non verbally). He says they can’t come face to face with her as she would put them in their place. He says he won’t take it likely with whoever tries to look for her trouble.

In the chorus– “With my baby my wonder woman (Fine baby), eeh” the artiste defines his woman as one with exceptional features; strong, successful, beautiful, hospitable, classy and ideal.

In the Verse 1, “See my guy, take a chill pill o” the artiste talks more about his girlfriend that is exceptional. He says she is not artificial, that everything about her is natural. She has her natural beauty and doesn’t need to makeup before she looks beautiful. He says she has a nice physique. He also says she is not one of those ladies that are desperate to have a man or keep a rich man. He says she is not one of those ladies guys can snatch away from him even if they are richer or more famous than him.

In the hook “Shey make I wire wire” the artiste shows his capability to send money in whatever currency to whoever wants it to do whatever they wish.

In the verse 2, the artiste says despite the fact that people are familiar with the proverb “Olobe lo loko” that is he who cooks well retains the husband, they are still saying that his girlfriend has used charm or voodoos on him to make him love her dearly. Meanwhile it is no voodoos that is keeping them together but the fact that she is different from other ladies

WHAT DOES THE SONG “WONDER WOMAN” BY DAVIDO MEAN

Just like the word “Wonder” means someone exceptional, the song “Wonder woman” means a woman that is exceptional; a kind of woman that does things that leaves you in awe. The song talks about women that have exceptional features; strong, successful, beautiful, hospitable, classy, perfect to wife and ideal.

LOCATION

The artiste used mostly indoor scenes; he used various locations across the world depending on the location of the people that featured in the video.

COSTUME

Costumely!

SOUND

Very tuneful! Atleast he did not go screechy or struggle with his vocal. It is a slow-tempo song. He was very expressive as he sang. The major instruments used in the composition of the beat were the drums and piano.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Interesting visuals! Great lightning. The video complements the theme of the song.

(+LYRICS + MEANING) MUSIC REVIEW: TIRE U BY VICTOR AD FT DAVIDO “VERY INSPIRING LYRICS! SHEY SUFFER NO DEY TIRE YOU, EHN YOU?”

We are now on IG@ogefashblog

I love this jam, so mad! Very inspiring lyrics! Why does that Victor AD love to dress in that simple manner; so simple. He wears the same kind of shirts but different colour with almost the same pattern though; he should please change his clothing- style biko. I remember when he came to perform at the University of Lagos Alumni Fiesta; nkan kanna ni sha (it is the same dressing style)

Away from Victor AD’s style of dressing, oya, sharpily take a gander at the lyrics below before the main review.

THE REVIEW

Omo, Victor AD’s verse is long but Davido’s verse come longggggggg; phew! Anyway the good thing is that each verse makes sense.

Lyrically, the song comes in two verses; the first was taken by Victor AD and the second by Davido.  The song is quite lengthy- I mean the verses, pre chorus and chorus are very lengthy.  The Chorus was taken three times while the Pre-chorus was taken two times. The artistes sang in pidgin

SONG ARRANGEMENT:

Intro- Pre Chorus- Chorus – Verse 1 (Victor Ad) Chorus- Verse 2 (Davido) – Pre Chorus- Chorus/Outro

The lyrics are inspiring and meaningful as well. It advises people to be up and doing if they do not want to suffer in life for long and if they want to ever succeed in life.

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the Pre-chorus, “It’s either I win or I win” Victor AD says giving reasons for failure is like making it acceptable. In order not to find himself giving excuses for failure, he says he would strive to win at all cost. He prays to God to make him victorious so he can enjoy life while he is on earth. He says he doesn’t want his situation to resort to having to apportion blame to his neighbours for his lack of progress or sufferings. He advises people to enjoy their life while on earth because when they die, people will forget them.
In the chorus “Suffer no dey tire you” the artistes wonder if people are not tired of suffering because all they do is sit down, laze around; they do not pray, jostle or work it out but they want to be successful; ko le work (It can’t work)

The artistes further compared those who yearn for success but are slothful to their mates who are up and doing and are succeeding in their various endeavors. They also compared them with their mates that are graduating and getting promotions at their various places of work.

In the verse 1 “I know say dem go talk say I don come again” Victor AD says many people may think he is grumbling about the things he does not have or they may think that his demands are too high for a beginner, but he says those that are criticizing him also want the same thing he wants. He asks God to show him who he really is as he wants to know if he is still doing the correct thing or he is deceiving himself.
In the Verse 2 “Eeeh, little boy, you gat work to do” Davido says for one to be successful, one has got to work which he is doing musically. He says his music work has made him wealthy and he is capable of acquiring expensive things for himself but haters say he is using voodoos.

He also says some say it is his father’s money that he is spending or helping his career, but he makes it clear to them that he entered into the music world as a street boy; the same the same way other artistes got in. He says some people think he won’t be popular but God put them into shame. Davido further rebukes poverty and his enemies. He says that the type of wealth he has now, can make him associate with big people like Otedola. He says no matter how people are hating on him, his presence in the music industry can’t be ignored.  He wishes those that wish him well good.

WHAT DOES THE SONG MEAN “TIRE YOU” BY VICTOR AD FT DAVIDO MEAN

Success doesn’t come to you when you are seated doing nothing, you must go out there, jostle and pray as well to get your desired breakthrough.

The song is a wake up call to those who are yearning for success to get up and take action. It is a wake up call to those who desire to end suffering in their lives to be up and doing till they get the success they yearn for.

MEANING OF SOME WORDS

It’s either I win or I win– No other option but to win
I no get excuse for failure- Don’t give reasons for failing, an excuse makes it more acceptable; Cash out– To spend on an item non-stop; Chop life– Enjoy life
Convoy–  To be escorted by a group for protection; Settle for less– To take something worth less or less than yourself, that is not deserving of you; Hustle: To work it out until you find great opportunities you want in life; Grateful– An appreciation of something done; Water no get enemy– Nobody hates something as useful as water

LOCATION

It was shot in Nigeria. They used mostly outdoor scenes. Its location tallies with the theme of the song…

COSTUME

Good; it fits the video concept.

SOUND: Very inspiring tune. I enjoyed every bit of the song. I loved Davido’s modulation @ the 1 minute 51 seconds of the song where he sang “Lord I want to know”

The artistes sang expressively to the beat. They were also consistent with the style of rhythm. The various instrumentals used (Drum, piano, shakers, tambourine) blended well and enhanced the beauty of the song. So melodious!

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Very interesting visuals! Terrific story-line! The slum area and the inhabitants’ lifestyles did complement the message of the song. The entire visual reflects the message of the song.  Although, I felt Victor AD was constantly looking at the floor and was closing his eyes too much.

Nna mhen, I love their acting. Their acting made the video interesting to watch.

THE STORY IN THE VIDEO

It tells the story of four guys in the neighborhood, one of them was hardworking even though he did not have money, while the three others did nothing but mocked him anytime he was going out to look for job.

The hardworking guy continued searching for a job or customers to patronize his work. He did not relent in his search for a breakthrough. Meanwhile his three other neighbors who were jobless and did nothing but play game kept on mocking him. One day, God opened door for this hardworking guy and he finally became rich. He left the slum area while his neighbors who mocked him remained there. One of them saw him and was remorseful. He regretted not using his time to do something meaningful.

Those trios that mocked the hardworking guy are the faces you see in Xploit comedy

THE REVIEW

Those people underrating this song do not have good listening ears for dope music; shikena. And all those DJ’s that are not putting this song on their playlist, all their other songs will abrakataba (magically) change to “Before you wake up” by Adekunle gold and that will be the only thing playing from their music mix.

Lyrically, The song comes in two verses. The chorus “Before you wake up…” dominated the song. It was sung four times. The artist sang in pidgin, English and Yoruba. The lyrics are well written and are in array. The words flow perfectly. Both verses 1 and 2 have the same number of lines which is a sure way to go. The song is capable of creating affection in one. It is also meaningful as it talks about the kind of elaborate treat and surprises a guy wants to give to the lady he so much loves. Or just say it talks about how a guy intends to shower a lady with love and surprises before she wakes up.

Song arrangement- Verse 1- Chorus- Verse 2- Chorus (3x)

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the verse 1, “I know you need a holiday” Adekunle Gold tells us how he picked his significant other over other girls. He also lets us know that though many girls are on him trying to get his attention, but she is the only that interests him. He says she is the only one that can make him calm or relaxed. He talks about how far he is willing to prove his love for his significant other. For instance, he will make their wedding elaborate and go as far as inviting the biggest music celebrity couple in the world- The Carters (Beyonce and Jay Z).

The artiste lets us know that he desires to spend eternity with his significant other “Six months twice in a year”.

In the Chorus “Before you wake up” The artist lets us know how he intends to surprise his significant other before she wakes up; may be a vacation to somewhere she has always loved or never being before or some other treat. He is filled with love for her and wants to show her how much he loves her. He vows never to do anything that will ruin their relationship or ever leave her.

In the verse 2 “Hard guy hard guy; na me dey fall in love and this no be plan” the artiste reveals the effect his significant other has on him. He is the kind of guy who doesn’t date ladies for “Keeps” but ever since this significant other crossed his part, it is hard to “smoke” her. Anytime he thinks about her, he just wants to wrap his arms around her.

WHAT DOES THE SONG “BEOFORE YOU WAKE UP” BY ADEKUNLE GOLD MEAN

It is a love song that talks about the sweet things the artiste wants to do to his significant other to prove how much he loves her; such as taking her on a surprise trip, giving her an elaborate treat, lots of cuddling and so on.

LOCATION

It was shot in an hotel in Nigeria. The artist used both indoor and outdoor scenes.

COSTUME

Eyes rolling; okay nothing spectacular about their outfit, especially that of Adekunle Gold. Infact his appearance was like that of an engineer working on the field.

SOUND

Great tune! It is a slow tempo song. Adekunle Gold’s vocal was pleasing to the ears. The various instrumentals used (piano, guitar, shakers, tambourine) blended well and enhanced the beauty of the song. I love the flow of rhythm; he was consistent with the style of rhythm.
