(+ LYRICS+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: BULLION SQUAD BY KCEE “IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THIS VIDEO, SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR …!”

MUSIC REVIEW: BULLION SQUAD BY KCEE
I just love the video “Bullion Van”; colourful, great shot, catchy beat and these makes the video interesting to watch. You can’t even blink for a second when watching this video. I am still wondering why the Video and audio is yet to be jamming on all stations. Most of these on air personalities don’t know correct gbedu, they just like to do follow-follow, that is, they like to play what other stations are playing or their favourite artistes song or the song of artistes that enlarge their pockets, and that is why they leave out correct jamz, smh. Anyway before the review, let’s check out the lyrics

THE REVIEW

The lyrics to the song “Bullion Van” was done in pidgin. It is hard to put the song into verses as the over 3 minutes song was done in repeated pre-chorus and chorus; infact the song literally has no verse. However, irrespective of the skeletal lyrics, the words flowed properly. The lyrics are meaningful also where Kcee basically talked about having abundance of wealth to the extent that you don’t calculate your spending or you don’t feel some amount has gone out of you because you have enough cash. As in as much as the cash that is loaded in Bullion Vans. This he sang in the pre-chorus “When we enter the place we no dey calculate o (We no dey calculate). When we spending the money we no need calculator (we no need calculator). E Money dey for here we no need calculator.Na money kill am o, ah ah, eeh eeh eeh (2x). Obodo Oyibo, na money kill am o; ah ah eeh eeh eeh. Versace for your body, na money kill am o; ah ah eeh eeh eeh…)
“Bullion Van- chei, baby bullion van- aah. Bullion Van, we packaged the money for bullion van”

The lyrics flowed perfectly with the beat and was interesting on the beat. A very catchy intro as well. I love that lyrics flow/dance moves at the 48 seconds of the song.

WHAT IS THE SONG “BULLION SQUAD” BY KCEE ABOUT?
The word “squad” means “group” organized for some common purpose while “Bullion” means a bulk quality of precious metal usually gold or silver.

Kcee’s Bullion Squad comprised of four big nollywood actors- Ik Ogbonna, Alex Ekubo, Charles Okocha, can’t really remember the name of the 4th nollywood actor.

From the breakdown, you can tell that the song “Bullion Squad (BS)” means people of extreme substance gathered together in a particular arena. They (BS) have a large amount of money or assets which Kcee quantifies in the chorus “Bullion Van- chei, baby bullion van- aah. Bullion Van, we packaged the money for bullion van”

They have enough cash that they do not even calculate their spendings or feel some amount has been removed from their account when they give people money; now, that is what you call extremely extreme wealth!
Infact, he moves around in a bullion van, disbursing money non stop, not to banks but dashing people; hmm, interesting!

He even called the poor to embrace him, so they can also become wealthy as well. This he sang in the Pre-chorus/chorus “Bullion Van, we packaged the money for bullion van. Akunatakasi nwa madu piaka piaka (piaka piaka). Give me the account make I wire wire (wire wire). Poor man me tu’m aka na obi (metu’m aka n’obi) (Poor man you can touch my heart)”

VIDEO PRODUCTION
This video was delivered in HQ; great lighting, terrific display of colour skills, great shots and great directing. The dance moves tallied well with the beat. The lyrics flowed well with the rhythm of the song. The theme of the song can be seen in their costume and in their expression. Great visual effect from the cars, money, drinks. to every other thing displayed in the video.

THE STORY IN THE BULLION VAN VIDEO
A beautiful lady by name Rose was celebrating her birthday and a lot of male and female friends came around to celebrate her birthday with her . When Charles Okocha came in, he popped champagne and gave her money, but his was nothing compared to that of Kcee and his squad as they came with more expensive drinks and then gave her a lot of dollars, after which they whisked her away while Charles Okocha stared in amazement as people who are richer than him take Rosy’s attention away from him. Moments later Charles pleaded to join their squad and they let him after which they welcomed him into their squad.

LOCATIONS

The video was shot both outdoor (highway) and indoor (a bar).

COSTUMES
Terrific, the costumes tallied with the word “bullion”. Kcee’s costume was spotless. His shoe, accessories were on point. Also, that of Alex Ekubo and IK Ogbonana was on point. The video was lively.

SOUND

Terrific, very interesting and catchy beat; also a danceable one. I love the intro beat like the sound of an helicopter, even though they didn’t show it; it was done in the format of hollywood films. I love the creativity behind the sound effect.

JUST WONDERING
• The money is packaged in a bullion van but they used cartoon vehicles not even one single real vehicle
• Wondering what he meant by “Escoba dey here” because Escoba is like a game and I didn’t see any all through the video
• Throughout the song, the title of the song “Bullion squad” was not mentioned just Bullion Van
• He was having a meeting with the squad, so why still spray money in the air

REMARK
Terrific song! The song has a catchy intro, interesting shaku shaku moves. The dance, lyrics and the beat flowed well. The choice of colour matched the word bullion. However, the lyrics are quite plain and repetitive. Interesting melody accompanied with Attention-grabbing visuals. If you have not seen this video, there is something wrong with your playlist; it is incomplete. Any radio/television not jamming this song, has a faulty playlist.

AN HEADLINE LIKE “BOYFRIEND CAUGHT THROUGH GIRLFRIEND…” SHOWS LACK OF IDEA FROM MEDIA HOUSES

AN HEADLINE LIKE “BOYFRIEND CAUGHT THROUGH GIRLFRIEND OR ITS LIKES…” SHOWS LACK OF IDEA FROM MEDIA HOUSES

ASIDE THE FACT THAT THE ABOVE IS OBVIOUSLY A CLICHE (AS IN IF THERE IS ANOTHER WORD TO REPLACE “OVER USED”, THEN I WOULD GLADLY OPT FOR IT), IT IS IMPLICATING.

PLEASE, DON’T ENDANGER THE FEMALE GENERATION BECAUSE YOU WANT TO PULL CROWD TO YOUR VARIOUS MEDIA CHANNELS.
IT DOESN’T SHOW WISDOM AT ALL. AHAH, DON’T MAKE OUR MEN START SEEING OUR WOMEN AS ENEMIES. DON’T MAKE MEN HARM WOMEN MORE…

ANYBODY CAN CATCH ANYBODY OR CAN BE USED TO SET A TRAP, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS TO PLAY YOUR CARDS WELL.

WHEN MEN ARE USED AS TRAPS TO GET WOMEN, YOU WONT SEE IT AS HEADLINE, BUT WHEN IT IS THE OTHER WAY ROUND, IT BECOMES A MAJOR HEADLINE;HABA!
PLEASE BE CREATIVE!

EXAMPLES: A FEMALE MADE THEM CATCH EVANS THE KIDNAPPER…
THE GIRLFRIEND OF ONE OF THE OFFA ROBBERS GAVE HIM OUT…
AND SO MANY OTHER HEADLINES LIKE THAT…
