(+SYNOPSIS) THROWBACK MOVIE:  SECRET SUPERSTAR “SO TOUCHING!”

IG @ogefashblog.

This movie is so touching, it left me misty-eyed! Though it doesn’t have a tragic end, but I really cried as I watched the movie. And when I watched again, I cried again. There’s really no Aamir Khan’s movie that I watch without crying.

But I love Aamir Khan, and I love him more for this movie. But wait o, where was I in 2017 when this movie came out? Oh! Now I remember, I focused more on American and African films. If you have not seen this movie, you need find all possible means to watch it; it’s not too late. I just watched it and I am glad I did.

ABOUT THE MOVIE SECRET SUPERSTAR

This slightly humorous movie tells the story of Insia, a female teenager with a gifted voice who aspires to be apopular singer. Insia (ACTED BY ZARIA WASIM)  has a very stern man as a father-Farookh (ACTED BY RAJ ARJUN) and a doting woman as a mother- Najma (ACTED BY MEHER)

Farookh was not only strict but wicked as he had wanted to end the life of his daughter- Insia while she was in his wife’s womb for being a girl. However, Najma ran away with the pregnancy and came back after Insia was already born promising to abort the second child if the child is a girl. So when Najma, had a son- Guddu (ACTED BY KABIR SAJID) as the second child, Farook showed love to only him and constantly rebuked Insia.

Insia’s only consolation was the guitar her mum bought for her when she was 6 and the constant hallucinations of her singing to the whole world. Oneday, a classmate and love interest- Chitan (ACTED BY TIRTH SHIRMA) saw how gifter she was musically and invited her for a completion where she could win a laptop and other big prizes. However, Insia was unable to go as her father chose that night to quarrel with her mum- Najma again. Insia’s father does not only quarrel with Najam, but constantly beats her black and blue in front of the kids.

Insia so wanted her mum to leave her father because of the way he turned her to a punching bag. So, she started looking for ways to push her musical talent, get recognised and start making money, so that her mum can leave her father.

Najma had bought Insia a laptop to console her for the competition she missed. Insia decided to use it to propte her music talent. She was fascinated by the millions of views people get on YouTube when they upload videos. She decided to do the same thing but not without hiding her identity for the fear of her dad obliterating her music dream. Insia with the idea of her mum started using niqab when singing. She also gave herself the stage name “secret superstar.”

Insia’s songs on YouTube got millions of views that she got so famous without anyone knowing her identity except Chitan, her mum and brother. Insia’s vocals got controversial musician- Shakti Kumaaarr (ACTED BY AAMIR KHAN) interested in her works.

In the long run, Insia’s dreams were achieved. But do you think her father- Farookh was still part of her and that of her mum and brother? Click to watch the movie…

DISLIKES

I really don’t like the way Insia was constantly insulting her mum. She called her “stupid, coward, baby” and so on, children may think it is normal to insult their parents. What y’all think?

The scene where he insulted Shakti (Acted by Aamir Khan) insulted the young boy during the competition. “You are an insult to talent” That was funny though but too harsh, some children can commit suicide immediately, view in the 8 minutes 10 seconds of the movie.
