Another tragedy in Lagos, Nigeria! We are still yet to recover from the Ojuelegba tragic incident where a truck carrying piles of plywood fell off the bridge and killed many people. We are still yet to recover from the tragic story about the plateau killings, about the gruesome attack in 11 villages in three local government areas – Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South.
Now, there is another tragic accident, all happening within/ less than a week interval. Today, Thursday, 28th June, 2018 around Otedola Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway there was an accident at about 5:30 pm. A tanker exploded. The victims who were around the place of the incident were burnt beyond recognition while some sustained serious injuries
The spokesman of the FRSC- @BisiKazeem, said the cause of accident was break failure suffered by the petrol laden tanker.
The FRSC said 54 vehicles were burnt comprising 45 cars, five buses, two trucks, 1 tricycle and the tanker itself . A Joint rescue operation involving FRSC, LASEMA, NPF, RRS, NSCDC, Lagos State Fire service, LASTMA was mounted promptly within 10 minutes of the accident.
