(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: POWER FLOW BY MONIQUE “I SO KNOW THIS SONG LIKE…” +MONIQUE’S KIDS ARE REALY CUTE!

Seriously, this song used to be my national anthem. You doubt me? Ask all the workers and members of Jesus House Parish, Akioka. I am so in love with this song! I know it like the back of my hand!

WHAT IS THE SONG POWER FLOW BY MONIQUE ABOUT?

Power flow in the context of this song means the movement of God’s power

In the song, the artiste calls on the rapid movement of God’s power (Power flow) all over the earth, so that there would be peace. She calls on God to show his power; move in His usual mysterious way and deliver the nation from calamities. She also calls on God to pour out his fresh anointing her.

In the artiste’s country- Nigeria, there is so much terrorism and killings; she is also calling on God to put an end to the crisis in the country and grant the nation peace.

The artiste also eulogizes God with the sweet names which the Yorubas in Nigeria refer to as “Oriki”

Signs and wonders means a miraculous occurrence or something that is inexplicable

Fiagbara e ran means God should show your power

Agbanilagbatan means God that saves completely; Awonilawotan: He that watches fully

Atorise: The God that is able to do all things or makes the impossible to be possible.

Atofarati: The God you can rely on or lean on; Alagbawimi: The God that saves/defends

The song comes in two verses. The chorus was taken thrice. The lyrics to the song are meaningful, inspiring and detailed. The lyrics are in order; it follows a particular sequence. The tune is also inspiring and melodious. It is also very catchy. It is however similar to Sinach’s tune for “The name of Jesus.” The artiste has an appealing vocal and she sang expressively to the beat. The lyrics flowed well with the rhythm. There was consistency in the style of rhythm. There was no conflicting instrumental. The major instruments used to compose the song include drums, piano and guitar. Monique sang in English but fused it with Yoruba a Nigerian language.

The video which features her two cute children

depicts God as the all-powerful One. A lady (Acted Allwell Damola) whose son was proclaimed dead by the doctor went down on her knees to pray to God. Her prayer was answered as God woke her son from the dead. That’s the theme of the song “Movement of God’s powers in a place”. The video complements the track.
