MUSIC REVIEW: LIAR BY TOLANI OTEDOLA “TOLANI SHOULD JUST…”

Not many know that Tolani Otedola, the daughter of billionaire, Femi Otedola is into music. In fact, she has been into music before her sister- Ifeoluwa Florence Otedola aka DJ Cuppy.

Now, I don’t want to compare their vocals and their lyrics because this article is not about that; but if you listen to their songs, you will figure that out. #Winks

Actually, I recently stumbled on her songs, I listened to them back to back, I must say she is a fantastic singer with good lyrics and a unique voice. Tolani should just try promoting her songs from a different perspective; more of Nigerian promotion like her sister DJ Cuppy is doing, other than just stay back in Abroad and release songs. This would put her in better limelight in the country she is from, and not just abroad she is currently based. What y’all think?

WHAT IS THE SONG “LIAR” BY TOLANI OTEDOLA ABOUT

This song is self-explanatory though. A liar is someone that tells lies. Just like the title “Liar”, the song is about a guy that tells all sorts of lies to his lover. The guy is a deceiver, unfaithful partner, and toils with the emotions of ladies. The artiste in this song falls in love with such kind of guy who thinks she is stupid, and that he can keep deceiving her with pleasant words.  Seeing his lies have been discovered by her, he tries to sway her into believing that people are only envious of their relationship. Another Lie!

Lyrically: The song comes in one verse. The pre-chorus and chorus were taken twice each. The lyrics are meaningful, and interesting to the ears. The lyrics also flow well. The artiste sang in pidgin.

MEANING OF SOME WORD

Sugar lips: A person that says sweet and pleasant words just to get favor, sex, or something else from someone. Usually, these people don’t always stay true to their words

Vocal: I love Tolani’s vocal; very attractive, soulful, and interesting to the ears. Her vocal was clear. She was consistent with her vocal quality.

Melody: This song is so melodious; every part of it. Talk of the pre-chorus, chorus, verse, and bridge. Orin lo dun to yin (A song that is so interesting like this). It comes in a mid-tempo beat. The rhythm flows so well. The major instruments used to compose the song include guitar, piano, and drum.
