(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: IF I BY PICAZO FT ZLATAN “MELODIOUS, YET TOO MANY DISJOINTED LINES!”

In all honesty, this song is very melodious but there were too many disjointed lines. There were lines that needed continuity for a better understanding of the song, but the artiste- Picazo didn’t continue those lines. I am just shaking my head at the lack of lyric organization. Zlatan’s lyrics were far better than that of Picazo.

WHAT IS THE SONG IF I BY PICAZO FT ZLATAN ABOUT

“If I” is a love song by Picazo ft Zlatan. The song talks about the profound love the artistes have for a lady that has captured their hearts. This lady blows their mind, drives them crazy, and excites them. They are willing to protect her and stick their neck out for that kind of girl. They vow never to leave her as well.

It is however contradicting that despite the way they feel about the lady, they are unable to remember her or are too busy for her

If I no call you baby, I too busy  o

Girl, it is not funny eh, you are just fortunate”

Lyrically: The song follows a particular sequence. The artistes sang in pidgin and Yoruba; a Nigerian Language. It comes in two verses taken by Picazo and Zlatan respectively. The chorus and post-chorus were taken thrice by Picazo alone. The lyrics are however disjointed; some lines needed continuity but the artiste- Picazo didn’t continue; hence breaking the flow of the song and making it difficult to give proper meaning to the song…

View some of the lines that lacked proper continuity below

“If I forget oh, oh baby would you remember me oh, my body to let oh, cause of you I chase my tenant o
Malo kan le’se, love the way you dance my song oh (Don’t break your leg; I love the way you dance to my song)

Ma lo oh, wa oh, when I see the gbedu for your back omoge, o wa ni n ma lo sa (Don’t’ go, come! When I see the groove behind you; you now asked me not to run)

Ti n ba binu police ni ma fi gbe (If I get angry, it is the police that I would use to carry her)

Maami ma lo fara bo; she’s killing me on a low. Me I just dey on my own, me I no fit hate another man (Bbay don’t injure yourself; she is killing me on a low. I am on my own; I can’t hate another man)”

To me, Picazo just combined different phrases;  a phrase is a group of words that are incomplete and do not make sense.

Vocal: Fair; Picazo’s vocal was not clear at some point. I am wondering if he was shorter than the mic or he was too tall for the mic…

Melody:  The song is tuneful regardless of the flawed lyrics. The rhythm flows well and the instruments are well balanced. The major instruments used in the composition of this song include drum, piano, and guitar.

Take a gander at the lyrics beliw
