WHAT IS THE SONG “GRACEFULLY BROKEN ABOUT?

To know what this song is all about, we have to first of all find out the meanings of some words such as “Broken” and “Gracefully broken.”

“Broken” has different meanings. Broken means to be damaged, hurt and to lose hope in something. Another definition of broken is to be penitent or repentant. In the context of this song, broken means the latter.

Gracefully broken on the other hand is the divine assistance, grace and the mercy of God upon someone to be repentant over his or her sin.

In the song, Gracefully Broken, Tasha Cobbs acknowledges that without God she can’t function. Therefore, in this song, she is letting nothing stop her from being repentant and surrendering all to God so that God can increase her. She is laying down things that are not of God in her life in order for things that are of God to enter her life. She yearns for more of Christ in her and shows readiness to receive all His promises for her life.

MEANING OF SOME WORDS

“On the altar again set me on fire, set me on fire” means to be zealous about things of Christ. She wants to be on fire for things concerning God

“Here I am, God…Arms wide open” means the artiste’s readiness to receive from God. In this song, she asked God for increase. This she sang in the verse 1All I have in these hands and multiply”

“Pouring out my life…Gracefully broken” means to freely express or talk about yourself especially that which is getting you worried. In the song, she is telling God how she feels about Him and all that she wants in life.

The song comes in two verses. The chorus was taken four times. The lyrics are meaningful, inspiring and spirit-filling. The tune is melodious. Tasha Cobbs has an appealing, rich and expressive vocal. She sings zealously for Christ and allows the spirit of God take control of her when singing. The lyrics to Gracefully Broken flow well with beat, and she was consistent with the style of rhythm.

The major instruments used to compose the song include drums, piano and guitar. The backup singers sang in uniformity and they have really got appealing and unmatched vocals just like Tasha Cobbs.

VERSE 1

All I have in these hands and multiply
God, all that I am and find my heart

Take all I have in these hands and multiply
God, all that I am and find my heart
On the altar again set me on fire (Ask him to), set me on fire

CHORUS

Here I am, God
Arms wide open
Pouring out my life
Gracefully broken

VERSE 2

My heart stands in awe of Your name
Your mighty love stands strong to the end
You will fulfill Your purpose in me
You won’t forsake me, (You will be with me) You will be with me

Arms wide open (Oh oh oh)
(Pouring out my life…) Pouring out my life
Gracefully broken

All to Jesus now
All to Jesus now
I’m holding nothing back

(Have Your way, use me Lord, I surrender) I surrender

(Use my life for Your glory, say I surrender all) I surrender
(Oh oh oh! You want to tell Him right where you are) I surrender

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Oh! Your power at work in me
Oh! I’m broken gracefully
Oh! I’m strong when I am weak
Oh oh oh! I will be free

Oh oh oh! I’m strong when I am weak
Oh oh oh! I will be free
