(+LYRICS +MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: BADMAN BY TOLANI OTEDOLA “LYRICALLY CAPABLE!”

After listening to Tolani Otedola’s songs back to back, I have no doubt about her music capability. She flows well on the beat, and she is lyrically capable.

WHAT IS THE SONG BADMAN BY TOLANI ABOUT

A badman in the context of this song may mean a man that is bad and is not qualified to be called a husband material.

In the song, the artiste basically talks about how she always makes wrong choices in the opposite sex; which she apparently seems to be enjoying. Her hearts beat for “badmen”, and they drive her crazy.

Lyrically: The song comes in two verses. The chorus and hook were taken thrice, while the bridge was taken once. The lyrics are intellectual and are well written. They expand listeners’/viewers’ vocabulary. She sang majorly in English but fused with some words in pidgin.

Vocal: Her vocal is appealing and clear. She has a subtle vocal. She was consistent with her vocal quality!

Melody: The song is tuneful. The rhythm flows well and is easy to remember. The major instruments used in the composition of this song include drum, shakers, guitar, and piano.

LYRICS TO BADMAN BY TOLANI

INTRO

Beatz

Every time a badman, every time a bad

Every time a badman, every time a bad

Every time a badman

VERSE 1

Why do I like it so loud
A love that is pinning me down
Spinning me round and around
Up on the ceiling then down on the ground
Wish I could love politely
The ones that are nothing like me
Should make some better choices
Choosing the ones that will treat me nicely

CHORUS
But every time a badman pull up
Watch my heart get beat up
Even though I should know better
I buckle up, rollercoaster
Every time a badman pull up
Temperature dey burn up
Even though I should know better
I’m down for the ride, whenever

HOOK

Every time a badman, every time a bad, every time a badman oh (2x)

VERSE 2

Why do I make it so hard
Maybe I’m broken; I’m bad
Because when he looks like trouble
That’s when I’m catching a buzz
Wish I would learn my lesson
I’m needing a new direction
But I no dey like to listen
I like the ones that will keep me guessing

CHORUS
Every time a badman pull up

Watch my heart get beat up
Even though I should know better
I buckle up, rollercoaster
Every time a badman pull up
Temperature dey burn up
Even though I should know better
I’m down for the ride whenever

HOOK

Every time a badman, every time a bad, every time a badman oh (4x)

BRIDGE

Cocky and I’m liking that, Yes like that
On the edge of my seat, and I like it so far
Then it all falls down and leaves me sober
And I swear it’s over. But then I do it over

CHORUS
Every time a badman pull up
Watch my heart get beat up
Even though I should know better
I buckle up, rollercoaster
Every time a badman pull up
Temperature dey burn up
Even though I should know better
I’m down for the ride whenever

OUTRO
Every time a bad man, every time a bad (4X)
