(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: RESCUE BY LAUREN DAIGLE “WHO WOULD SEND OUT AN ARMY?”

Ig@ogefashblog.

Lauren Daigle is a 28 years old American gospel songstress. However, all through the entire duration of the song “Rescue” the artiste didn’t mention God which makes one wonder “Who would send out an army?” and “Who would do the rescue?” It makes me wonder if this song is off her gospel songs; although some of the words used in the song are words associated with the gospel. What y’all think?

WHAT IS THE SONG RESCUE BY LAUREN DAIGLE ABOUT?

The word “rescue” means to save someone from danger or harm. We would be reviewing this song in the field which the artiste- Lauren is well known for; Gospel.

The song rescue is already self explanatory. It talks about God the protector, provider and savior of mankind in their worst times.

In the song, the artiste talks about God as the “All-seeing” and “All-knowing” God. It talks about God sending rescuers to the paths of his children regardless how far or close (In terms of location and heart) they are to God, regardless how terrible or overwhelming the problems they are facing are, and regardless how deeply hurt they are. God is everywhere; location/distance is not a problem for Him. She uplifts the hearts of people who feel despair and are about to give up because they feel no one sees them, no one knows their needs, and no one knows what they are going through in life. She says God will send an army to find them and rescue them.

MEANING OF SOME WORDS

SOS: Save our souls, Save or ship, Symptoms of stress, Signs of stress

Army: Organized military force or group of men armed to fight (Google definition)

Darkest nights: When problems faced by someone are overwhelming. To be in the most terrible situation

I certainly like this song. The lyrics come in 2 verses. The chorus and pre-chorus were taken twice each. The lyrics are meaningful, uplifting and in sequence.  It gives hope to the hopeless who feel they are unseen, abandoned and all is over for them. I like the artiste’s vocal; very appealing and interesting to the ears. The artiste sang in English. Her lyrics flow well with the beat. She was also consistent with the style of rhythm. The major instruments used to compose this song include piano, guitar and harp. Rescue by Lauren Daigle is a slow tempo song.

LYRICS TO RESCUE BY LAUREN DAIGLE

INTRO

BEATZ

VERSE 1

You are not hidden
There’s never been a moment
You were forgotten
You are not hopeless
Though you have been broken
Your innocence stolen

I hear you whisper underneath your breath
I hear your SOS, your SOS

CHORUS

I will send out an army to find you
In the middle of the darkest night
It’s true, I will rescue you

VERSE 2

There is no distance
That cannot be covered
Over and over
You’re not defenseless
I’ll be your shelter
I’ll be your armor
