After the release of the song “As e dey go” by Naira Marley, it is now clear what people want to hear from Naira Marley. I mean, if he had released a song with erotic lyrics; it would have circulated to millions of people in less than 24 hours. They would say Naira Marley is at it again o. Now, he has released a new song with no erotic content (but too many violent scenes), but people are not hyping it the way they do for his other songs. For the first time; no controversy after the release of a song by Naira Marley. It is now clear that normal may not work for Naira Marley again in the music industry. He may just have to continue singing songs with erotic lyrics to keep boosting his music career. What y’all think?

Nevertheless, this song has too many scenes that promote violence; children shouldn’t be encouraged to watch this video. Moreso, I really can’t link the video to the entire song…In essence, this video doesn’t totally complement the track. What y’all think?

WHAT IS THE SONG AS E DEY GO BY NAIRA MARLEY ABOUT

The word “As e dey go” is a word in Pidgin which may mean “What is currently happening in Today’s World” in Standard English.

Naira Marley in this song talks about various happenings in society. He talks about the wealthy ones being the only recognized people in society, and how people want to form cliques with them. He also talks about proud people; he specifically mentions the poor as those who usually display pride.

He talks about the need for people who are opportune to have the good things of life, to be careful in their dealings with people, so that they don’t get harmed, with emphasy on  “experience being the best teacher”

Naira Marley also calls on people not  to throw caution to the wind or misbehave because they feel they are above the law.  

Lastly, he says most people that like to create much fuss or talk extensively are usually empty, “empty barrels make lots of noise”

Lyrically: The song comes in two verses. The chorus was taken thrice while the post-chorus was taken once. The artiste sang in pidgin and Yoruba; a Nigerian language.

The lyrics are fair, there were some lines that needed continuity, but were not continued. Also, the lyrics are not interrelated…

He also used some catchy words. I love the part Naira Marley said “Don’t sebe!” It is a blend of Yoruba and English, and it means don’t do that…

Vocal: His vocal was clear compared to his vocal in the song “Aye”. View the review here… He was consistent with his vocal quality all through the duration of the song.

Melody: The melody is tuneful! It is a mid-tempo beat. The rhythm flows well and the artiste was unswerving with the style of rhythm. The major instruments used to compose the song include drum, piano, and shakers. These blended well and enhanced the beauty of the song.
