Walahi, if you are in Nigeria and you are searching for a job to
earn a living, biko (please) don’t stop at any newspaper house, especially Vanguard.
Why? Newspaper houses don’t pay especially Vanguard. (A friend told me he was not paid for years)
You would just be there working your ass off, day in day out and at the end of the month, in fact months, you won’t get any salary.
Most journalists survive through brown envelope. (Cash inducement) It is hard for them to reject brown envelope because they are not paid.
So if you are out there and you are thinking about going for an interview at a Newspaper house, especially Vanguard, please don’t waste your transport fare.
And if you are out there, you have gone for any interview in a Newspaper house especially Vanguard, and they did not call you back; common don’t be deterred, instead thank God.
Why? The truth is that they can’t afford you, even though they make it seem like you are not qualified.
