Mohbad “Sabi” Song/Lyrics Breakdown

In the pre-chorus, chorus, and post-chorus, Mohbad narrates how people advised him to seek spiritual help so they could cast a breakthrough spell. With the spell, he won’t need to borrow money and would eventually become a better singer even though he was already singing well.

According to him, it was a ploy to dispirit him and make him look incapable musically. They tried to put him down and make him feel like he lacked music skills. But, he says he is a glorious child with capabilities/skills musically and otherwise. He is progressing and traveling all over the world. He regards himself as a Fela person. He prays to keep making a huge profit in his music as against the desire of his enemies to stop seeing him make money. He wants to keep enjoying his life.

[Pre-chorus]

Won ni ki ‘n wa baba to sabi [They said I should look for a spiritual person that is able]

K’owa w’ori mi, k’oto sasi [He should check my head before casting a spell]

Ki ‘n ma se ya’wo l’owo Lati [That I shouldn’t borrow money from Lati.]

Mo morin ko, won fe je ko dabi oh [I know how to sing but they want to make it look like I don’t know how to sing.]

Won ni ki ‘n wa baba to sabi [They said I should look for a spiritual person that is able]

K’owa w’ori mi, k’oto sasi [He should check my head before casting a spell]

[Chorus]

Ah, omo ologo to sabi [A great/glorious child that is skilled]

Omo gbera tan, o b’omi si Garri [He lifted himself and poured water in Garri]

O wo Yankee, o wo Atlanta, per roof [He entered American and Atlanta per roof.]

Eyan Baba Fela ni, ke gba fun [He is Fela’s person, accept it]

Ah, omo ologo to sabi [A great/glorious child that is skilled]
