“Ale yi” translates to “This night” in English. It is a Yoruba word in Nigeria.
Zlatan in the song “Ale yi” spurs people to appreciate what they have at the moment, live for the moment and have fun, rather than worry too much about what they don’t have and when they would have it. He warns them that “overthinking” can’t solve problems but will only worsen situations, which may affect their health and lead to death. According to him, if death occurs, other people will be the ones to enjoy what they have worked for.
For instance, Zlatan says he will live for the moment, enjoy what he has garnered. Though he has issues, he won’t let them weigh him down because worries can’t solve his problems.
