(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW WONMA BY OLAMIDE “HERE IS THE REALEST MEANING OF THIS SONG” +PEOPLE DID NOT LISTEN TO THIS SONG WELL!

Really, people need to clean their ears and listen to this song again. He was not referring to all women.  Yes, he said women are insatiable, however, he still said, even if you end up satisfying them, you can never satisfy a prostitute. This he sang in the line below…

“O le te ashana l’orun” whcih means, you can never satisfy a prostitute…

The only problem I have with this song is the artiste- Olamide dedicating the vulgar word “Wonma do” which means “They would sex her” to the entire 2-minutes 55 seconds of the song. It is really really bad. We know there is an increase in waywardness in today’s world; so, why be among those increasing it?

And to think that the teens in my neighbourhood play this song repeatedly; mhen this generation don spoil finish!

WHAT IS THE SONG “WONMA DO” BY OLAMIDE ABOUT?

“Wonma do” is a Yoruba word in Nigeria which means, “Would be sexed”

In the song, the artiste talked about how insatiable women are financially, materially and sexually, no matter the extra- mile you go in satisfying them. However, the artiste also said, even if you satisfy women, you can never satisfy “ashana”. Ashana are women who engage in sex for money; they are also known as prostitutes.

It is kind of wrong for the artiste to assume that there is no true redemption for prostitutes. Once a prostitute doesn’t mean the person would forever be one!

Lyrically: The lyrics are very vulgar. The artiste used the word “sex” in a vulgar way, and it was used in all the lines of the song. The song has two verses, and the chorus was taken twice. The artiste sang in Yoruba; a Nigerian language.

Vocal: The artiste’s vocal was clear. He was also consistent with vocal quality.

Melody: This is tuneful. The beat is strong and engaging. It is a fast-tempo beat; there is really no way this song would come on air that you won’t move your body to it. The rhythm also flows well. The major instruments used to compose the song include drum and piano.

CONTROVERSY

Olamide released a raunchy video for this song some weeks back. The video was however pulled down after Nigerian nurses complained that the video depicted nurses as sexual objects. In the video, the artiste used vixens who dressed as nurses and were acting vulgar. The Nigerian nurses told the artiste in a polite way that nurses are not sex objects.
