The song “Logan ti o de” by Tope Alabi is an unplanned song done by the artiste after visiting Ty Bello and family at their residence. The song which features a brief vocal of Ty Bello as one of the backup singers ended up becoming a hit.
Others who featured in the song are Segunfunmi Olaseinde, Afolabi Johnson, Adejumoke Oshoboke and George.
The good thing about this song is that it was translated. Now, for those that are Yorubas in “paper,” as in Yorubas that can’t speak the language; count yourselves lucky. This song is a great starter for you to start learning some Yoruba words.
Basically, if there is anyone out there; Nigerian or non-Nigerian that wants to start learning how to speak and understand Yoruba; this song is a great starter in that aspect.
WHAT IS THE SONG “LOGAN TI ODE” BY TOPE ALABI FT TY BELLO ABOUT?
The word “Logan ti o de” is a Yoruba word in Nigeria that means “The moment in arrives” in English.
The song is about the transformation that happens when the presence of God is in a place and surrounds people. God is able to give peace to a troubled nation or troubled heart and set one free from bondage.
In the song, Tope Alabi used the four words “Logan ti o de” to raise the spirits of people that feel deterred and subdued because of their current situation. The artiste urges them to keep trusting in God and never give up regardless of the situation they are going through. She says even though the world hurls insults at them, gives them terrible names, calls them poverty-stricken individuals, calls them barren, or gossip mongers speak ill about them; all would soon be a thing of the past. Because once God steps into their lives, their lives would turn around for good; there would be a total transformation of their lives. Their lives which people had thought was meaningless would end up becoming meaningful, and enemies would be put to shame.

I love this song; it is melodious. It is a slow tempo song. Tope Alabi’s vocal is interesting to the ears and soul winning. She has a convincing vocal; there was conviction in her vocal. The song doesn’t follow a particular sequence. What pre-dominated the song is “Logan ti o de” which means “The moment God arrives.” The major instruments used to compose the song include drums, talking drums, guitar, and piano.
OBSERVATION
- Just really staring at Ty Bello though. The way her lips moved and the way her body moved too. She was doing like “Butty”. I am sure she is a “butty”
Take a gander at the lyrics below.
