(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW RAINBOW BY REMA “HERE IS THE REALEST MEANING OF THIS SONG!” + IS THIS THE SAME REMA?”

The first time I heard the song “Rainbow,” I had to double-check the artiste behind the vocal to confirm if it was really Mavin act-Rema, even though I knew it was Rema. I am finding it hard to believe, even now, I still dey doubt am (As in, I am still doubting it)

Why you may ask? It is basically because of Rema’s vocal transition. Rema rendered this song in a different manner not synonymous to him; thereby giving his fans a different feel of him. So nice!

WHAT IS THE SONG RAINBOW BY REMA ABOUT

Rainbow is a band of seven colors comprising red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Rainbow usually symbolizes hope, joy, and serenity.

In the song, the artiste shows off his acquisition and his worth to a lady he loves as a way to prove his capability in taking care of her. The artiste says he wants to be the one to brighten her day and always drive her around. According to Rema, this lady calms his soul, motivates him, gives him hope, and inspires his melodies.

The artiste never wants them to be apart. He is hoping for a long-lasting relationship with this lady even though he has not been totally truthful to her. He assures her that he would never hurt her.

Lyrically: The song comes in only one verse. The chorus was taken four times while the pre-chorus was taken twice. The lyrics are repetitive. What predominated the song was the chorus “Yah……Swerve up, pull up in a Lambo, aye” and then the pre-chorus “Well yeah, right, hop into my car, come on, let’s ride”

The lyrics are original and deep. Some of the lines are quite complex. I am wondering what he means by

“Big jump, tell me where my chain go, aye”

The artiste sang in Standard English. The words used to compose the song are not the cliché kind of words some artistes usually use. They are words that expand listeners’ vocabulary and challenge them to make use of the dictionary to find out the meanings of some words.

MEANING OF SOME LINE(S)

Rainbow in your eyes when you just smile

To see sparkles of joy and hope in someone when they smile…

Vocal: Is this Rema? I am at loss. This is what I call “The Rema vocal transition…” He sang in a different style. His vocal was dynamic and clear. He was consistent with his vocal quality. I am wondering if his fans would want him to continue in this vocal…

Melody: The major instruments used to compose this song include drums, piano, harp, and guitar. The instrumentals are varied and well balanced. There was consistency in the rhythm style.

As at the time of penning down thoughts on the song, the video hasn’t yet dropped…

Take a gander at the lyrics below..

Feel free to correct the lyrics and share your thought on the song “Rainbow” by Rema
