(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW- TOOSIE SLIDE BY DRAKE “ABOUT THE SONG TOOSIE SLIDE!”

IG @ogefashblog

Toosie Slide is a song by Canadian singer, rapper and songwriter Aubrey Drake Graham, known by his stage name Drake. He worked with @toosie on this track to achieve the “Toosie slide” dance which goes thus…

“right foot up, left foot slide
Left foot up, right foot slide”

Wow, I just tried that; that was so easy!

But wait o; what exactly is @toosie’s real name? Hold on, I’mma ask google…

Well, apparently, google doesn’t have detailed information about @toosie yet. How about I ask him on his Instagram page, whatever he says, I would let y’all know.

WHAT IS THE SONG TOOSIE SLIDE BY DRAKE ABOUT

The song “Toosie slide” started with the pre-chorus followed by the chorus and post chorus. The chorus is most likely the most melodious part of the song.

Drake used this song to introduce a new dance style “Toosie slide” to the world and to also showoff himself as a terrific dancer. He likens his dance skills to that of American singer, songwirter and dancer- Michael Jackson who died in 2009. I feel there is more to this song than the artiste just showing off his dance skills in a new dance. What y’all think? Kindly share via the comment box…

Lyrically: The song has two verses that have the same number of lines; 11 lines precisely. The chorus was taken four times, pre chorus thrice and post chorus twice. The lyrics are in sequence but incomprehensive, except the chorus though. It is not really clear what else he was talking about aside the dance, love for troubled spots and his intent to impress a lady with a dance.

MEANING OF SOME WORDS

Thug passion: Good loving offered to someone by a rugged person, street person, violent personor a gangster; Trouble spots: a place where mayhem regularly happens; Slide: To drop or tumble, to move smoothly along a surface; Creep: To move in a stealthy or secret manner.

Vocal: The rapper has a rich vocal and he was consistent with his vocal quality.

Melody: The beat is nice. The major instruments used in the song include drum, percussion, guitar and piano.

The video which sees the artistes donning a face mask was shot duing the coronavirus pandemic.

LYRICS TO TOOSIE SLIDE BY DRAKE

INTRO

PRE CHORUS

Black leather glove; no sequins
Buckles on the jacket, it’s Alyx shit
Nike crossbody, got a piece in it

Left foot up, right foot slide
Basically, I’m saying either way, we about to slide, ayy
Can’t let this one slide, ayy

I could dance like Michael Jackson
I could give you thug passion
