So, what has happened to Reekado Banks? Why are his songs not so loud again on Dj’s playlist in various media houses and other platforms? What I mean is that, why are his songs not getting frequently played again like when he was under Don Jazzy’s “Mavin” Records?

Something is wrong somewhere and it has to be corrected. So what is wrong? It is definitely not Reekado Bank’s music but the unhealthy mindset some people have that when someone leaves a particular record label, he or she has indirectly left the entire music industry. That’s so rubbish!

Ever since Reekado Banks left Mavin Records owned by Don Jazzy, he has been releasing great and flawless tunes (Which have all been reviewed on Ogefash Photo Blog), even better than the ones that the newest Mavin act “Rhema” has been releasing (ain’t hating); but I find out that broadcast stations don’t play Reekado Banks songs as much as they played his songs when he was under Mavin Records (Although, it seems like it it is the same for other ex-mavins).

Even those DJ’s seem to have forgotten than he is still singing. It is appalling what factor really determines their selection! Anyway, biko (please), I am pleading, Reekado Banks is still singing, and he does that flawlessly, so, kindly add his songs to your most-frequent playlist. Nothing should hinder his continuous success in the music industry. Nothing should jazz his music away!

Jeez, people need to wipe off that absurd mentality that artistes can’t do better or continue succeeding once they leave a particular record label. If a song is good, regardless of the label the artiste is in, it should be promoted.

As far as am concerned, Reekado Banks is exceptional. He was when he was with Mavin Records, and he is still exceptional when he started singing under his own record label- Banks Music.

My option for this song “Play it non-stop or play it non-stop!”

“Options” is a song by Reekado Banks and Parker Ighile. Parker is a Nigerian British record producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter. He was born to Nigerian parents in London on march 1st 1990. NOW, ABOUT THE SONG OPTIONS…

To have an option means to have an alternative.

“Option” in the context of this song means that a lady has loads of men to make a selection from. 

In the song “Options,” both Reekado Banks and Parker have intense feelings for a particular beautiful and sexy lady who is the cynosure of all eyes, men in particular. They are mesmerized by her body in such a way that they can’t concentrate on anything else except her body. The artistes as well as other men have fallen deeply in love with this lady, and her body which they describe as “sumptuous. The artistes know that a lady with such “sumptuous” body would have loads of men (Options) to make a selection from; they hope that she chooses them and returns their love.

Lyrically: I love the fact that lyrics follow a paricular sequence; they are well arranged. The song comes in two verses taken by Reekado Banks and Parker Ighile respectively. Both verse one and two have the same number of lines (4). Reekado Banks took mostly the chorus; it was taken three times. The artistes sang in pidgin.

Ighile’s verse has sexual undertone. For instance, this line “Nobody don shake my antenna…Long time you play games like antenna” was referring to the power a lady has over him sexually. An antenna is also a slang for “Big dick”

The bridge which was taken by both Reekado Banks and Parker Ighile also has sexual undertones. What y’all think?

MEANING OF SOME WORDS

Love Struck: To have intense feelings for someone in such a way that you can hardly get them out of your mind for a second.

Sumptuous: Luxurious, magnificent, splendid and so on.

Sexual advance: Gestures made towards another person with the aim of gaining some sort of sexual favor or pleasure.

Vocal: Vey appealing and interesting to the ears. However, Parker Ighile’s vocal was not too clear at some point. Reekado Banks was consistent with his vocal quality and did not go out of tune.  For me, Parker’s ad-libbing was richer compared to his entire vocal in the verse and bridge.

Melody: It is tuneful. The rhythm flows well. They were consistent with the style of rhythm. The major instruments used to compose the song include drums, piano and guitar.

The video for this song was shot in Gabon. Gabon is a country in West Central Africa. The video  quality is not what I would term high.  Gush! Are those Gabon video vixens? They are so stiff!
