ABOUT THE SONG OWN IT BY STORMZY

“Own it” means to accept something or admit to something or agree that something is true.

Own it is a song by “Stormzy” which features English singer/songwriter- Ed Sheeran and Nigerian singer- Burnaboy.

The song talks about a lady who is sexually attractive and how her presence draws people’s attention. The artiste is attracted to this lady and desires her to admit how sexually attractive she is. He is unable to control the urge to have her as she always lightens his mood as well as arouse him.

I so love this song by Stormzy ft Ed Sheeran and Burnaboy, it is on repeat for me, gosh, try putting an earpiece, you would certainly not take it off, even when you want to go to bed.

The song has two verses. The first was taken by Stormzy and Burnaboy while the second was taken by EdSheeran. The lyrics are meaningful and expand one’s vocabulary. The Chorus “Own it” was sung thrice. I wish they repeated the chorus when they ended the song.

The song “Own it” has a fast beat. The beat is solid and so rhythmic. There was consistency in the style of rhythm. The artistes sang basically in English, except Burnaboy’s part Burna where he sang in pidgin.

LYRICS TO OWN IT BY STORMZY FT ED SHEERAN AND BURNA BOY.

CHORUS

Own it, girl, you just own it
‘Cause your body’s on fire
Show me how to control it
And go hit your spliff and get higher
Girl, I love how you roll it
I put my hand there, hold it
Amma be right by ya (4x)

VERSE 1 (BURNA BOY AND STORMZY)

Lighters up, lighters up
One time, lighters up
Pulled up in the party
When you saw me I was lighting up my J
So go ahead and brighten up my day
Lighters in the air when you’re lighting up the rave
And it’s feeling like I met you here before
Girl, I felt your presence when they let you through the door
Never had any body, give you everything common
So I take a little piece and the rest of it is yours
Mi amor, I

BURNA BOY

E don tey wey I don dey I tell you
But, girl, you think say na play eh eh eh
I know no wetin you dey do me
Wey just dey scatter my brain (Scatter my brain)

Thug loving when I put you in your place
I can tell you love it just by looking in your face
It’s the way that you whine up your waist
I’m so in awe, girl, you never have to worry ’bout nothing
You know it’s yours, you know you

CHORUS

Own it, girl, you just own it
‘Cause your body’s on fire
Show me how to control it
And go hit your spliff and get higher
Girl, I love how you roll it
I put my hand there, hold it
Amma be right by ya (4x)

VERSE 2 (ED SHEERAN)

Lights down for the one I love
Right now, we never look better
Forget our friends, girl, I love it when we chill together
We need nobody gonna feel how we feel together
She wanna kiss, I, I want another one
You got a sick vibe, I wanted more than one
Up to now, nobody knew where I was coming from
But we got the same mind
So I don’t wanna waste time, bring it to me
My, my, that’s what I need
That’s right, kissing your cheek
One time
I used to love being alone but now I can’t stand it
Reaching out my palm for you to put your hand in
Girl, you are the one and I don’t understand it
How you lighting up the room with your glow?

CHORUS

‘Cause girl, you just own it, girl, you just own it
‘Cause your body’s on fire
Show me how to control it
And go hit your spliff and get higher
Girl, I love how you roll it
I put my hand there, hold it
Amma be right by ya (5x)
