IG @Ogefashblog

“GENG” is a freestyle by Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) artiste- Mayorkun. He improvised on this solid beat and he killed it. This freestyle gbedu di (is) so dope that I am wondering how it would eventually turn out if he decides to do a proper recording.

ABOUT THE SONG “GENG” BY MAYORKUN

So what exactly does Mayorkun mean by Geng? Perhaps, “Geng” means clique or group of friends.

The artiste used the word “Geng” to describe a clique or group of friends that are distinguished. He says he and his clique are “Most High Geng”  that is they are distinguished. They are distinguished because they are well known and respected, they don’t live fake lives, they can afford whatever they buy, party hard whenever they feel like and can afford to live larger than life. They are distinguished because they are progressing!

He wrapped up the song by saying that people that live fake lives, buy fake things and do contrary to the above can’t be referred to as “Geng”

Mayorkun sampled the slang “Set awon” originated by small doctor. The song has one verse and three different choruses. It is not certain if Mayorkun has further plans for this song; but this freestyle is banging si mi leti (As in banging to the ears). The beat is catchy and engaging. Mayorkun has over time proven that he indeed has a promising career in Music.

Wait o, was Mayorkun the rapper? If he was, “mofo oh”; it is really good to hear the rap-side of him, although his vocal wasn’t too clear at some point.

Take a gander at the lyrics below.
