(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: TIME BY NF “ABOUT THE LADY NF FEATURED IN THE VIDEO +SOME FACTS ABOUT THE SONG TIME!”

IG @ogefashblog.

NF is actually his stage name coined from the first letters of two of his names. His real name is John Nathan Feuerstein. One thing most people don’t know about this video is that the lady he actually featured in the video is his beautiful wife- Bridgette Feuerstein. I can practically tell that y’all just exclaimed “wow!” just like I exclaimed when I learnt about that too.

ABOUT THE SONG “TIME” BY NF

The word change means to become different or to amend one’s ways or behavior. Time on the other hand is the duration given to someone to fix something up or do something.

This song is is about a guy who needs more time to be a better man for his woman. He is willing to go through therapy sessions to treat his depression, disorder, develop his emotional skills in order to be a better man for his spouse who is about quitting the relationship.

“Give me time” in this song doesn’t mean the artiste is no longer interested in the relationship with his significant other. The artiste used the word to request more time from his significant other to fix himself, change his behaviour and be responsible so that their relationship can work out.

From the song, we can tell that they are both going through emotional turmoil and the lady doesn’t have the strength to carry on anymore. It is obvious that NF is not giving his spouse the attention she wants. He is allowing his stressful job and some other issues not known to his significant other come between them and this is taking a toll on their relationship. We can also tell that he is bordered, depressed but he has refused to share this problem with his spouse. Instead he transfers aggression on her, speaks harshly to her, argue with her, and now that she is out of patience and can’t take it anymore, he is pleading with her not to go, but put up with him till he changes. This he revealed in the Verse 1, view below

“And I know I make you feel like you’re at the end of your rope”

“And I know I make you feel like you’re at the end of your rope. That’s when I look at you and tell you I’d be better alone”

The above line looks like a set up. More like NF is not ready to change, but whenever he sees that his spouse is running out of patience and is about to leave him, he promises to change.

MEANING OF SOME LINES

“And I know I make you feel like you’re at the end of your rope”

This line basically means when someone is out of patience and can no longer tolerate/cope with something or someone. In essence, the person has gotten to the limit of his/her patience or has run out of every option available and the next step is to quit.

“ And I know it hurts knowing that I carry this weight on my chest”

To worry too much about something in such a way that you do not see how much is affecting other aspect of your life or your relationship with people.

The song “Time”  comes in two verses. The pre chorus and chorus were taken twice.  The major instruments used include the drum and keyboard. The lyrics are well written and also flow with the rhythm.

LYRICS TO TIME BY NF

INTRO

 PRE-CHORUS

Even if we both break down tonight
And you say you hate me, and we go to bed angry
I know everything will be alright
I’ll be here waiting, I promise I’m changing
I just need

VERSE 1

A little time to show you I’m worth it
I know that I can be a difficult person
I’m a stress case, drive you up the wall when I’m working
Actually, I’m probably worse when I’m not, you don’t deserve it
Make you nervous ’cause you know I’ma break soon
Every time I do, I say something that hurts you
Acting like I’m gone, but we both in the same room
I don’t like to be wrong, which I know you relate to
And I know I make you feel like you’re at the end of your rope
That’s when I look at you and tell you I’d be better alone
Just the pride talking, isn’t it? ‘Cause both of us know
I’m the definition of “wreck” if you look into my soul
Comes out the most when I feel I’m in a vulnerable place
Made a lot of mistakes I wish I knew how to erase
When I’m afraid, might get distant and I push you away
But no matter the case, I’ma do whatever it takes even if

PRE-CHORUS

Even if we both break down tonight
And you say you hate me, and we go to bed angry
I know everything will be alright
I’ll be here waiting, I promise I’m changing
I just need

CHORUS

Time (Oh)
I, I need time (Oh, oh)
I just need time (oh)
I, I need time (oh)
Time (oh), time (oh)

VERSE 2

Yeah, way before I bought you the ring
We were fighting back and forth like you were wearing the thing
Two passionate people not afraid to say what they think
Lead to passionate conversation when it’s hard to agree
You know me well, sittin’ on the edge of my seat
Looking at life, over analyzing everything
Always depressed, tryna find a better version of me
Searching for something I know’s probably right in front of my feet
Stubborn as me? Maybe not, but you’re close to it
Got a lot of issues, I’m tryin’ to work through ’em
Going to therapy for you’s something that’s worth doing
When I know you been there for me through all of my worst moments
And I know it hurts knowing that I carry this weight on my chest
Making it difficult for me to open up and connect
Lot of regrets, I apologize for all of the stress
That’s not what I meant to do, you know I love you to death even if

PRE-CHORUS

Even if we both break down tonight
And you say you hate me, and we go to bed angry
I know everything will be alright
I’ll be here waiting, I promise I’m changing
I just need

CHORUS (2x)

Time (Oh)
I, I need time (Oh, oh)
I just need time (oh)
I, I need time (oh)
Time (oh), time (oh)
