Wow! This movie is so touching! There is no way you would watch this film and won’t be moved emotionally or to tears.

This movie is not an action movie o, but the storyline, the setting of the movie, and how the actors interpreted their roles flawlessly really got me pinned to it. I must really give exceptional credits to the acting of Lupita Nyong’o, Madina Nalwanga, and David Oyelowo; God they got me rapt in the movie.

I must also give credits to the location manager; the locations complimented the theme of the movie. The locations as well as the peasant food most of them survived on would really move you to tears. At some point, I really had to put myself in the shoes of people living in such conditions; and instantly. I knew what hardship they were going through. I wish things could be well for everybody…I pray things would be well for everybody…

The movie also depicted the way Africans are perceived – poverty-stricken people..

I can go on and on really, but I have gotz tell you what the movie is about…

ABOUT THE MOVIE QUEEN OF KATWE

The movie “Queen of Katwe” is based on a true story and it was shot in Uganda, Kampala.

It tells the story of a 10-year-old young girl- Phiona Mutesi (Acted by Madina Nalwanga) who was from a very poor background. She and her entire family were living in misery in Katwe, Uganda, Kampala. They lived in a dilapidated environment and they could barely feed; even if they fed, it was something peasant and mal-nourishing.

Worst still, there was no father figure for Phiona. She only had her mum Nakku Harriet (Acted by Lupita Nyong’o), her elder sister Margaret Night Nantongo (Acted by Taryn Kay Kyaze), and younger brothers.

Because of their financial constrain, none of them could go to school. They helped their mum Nakku sell maize in the market.

One day, Phiona stumbled on a group of people being tutored on chess by Robert Katende (Acted by David Oyelowo). She became interested in the game and started going for tutorials under Robert.

Day in day out, her interest in the game expanded. Aside from being tutored by Robert, she also read books about chess on her own in order to be better. Soon, Phiona became so skilled in Chess that she started going for local and international tournaments; and also emerged the winner.

Her new found love for Chess and the ability to win games soon paved a beautiful way for her family. Their story changed. From Phiona earnings they were able to buy a home, feed well, and live a better life. Phiona became a Chess Champion! She became a Woman Candidate Master after her victories at World Chess Olympiads.

If you have not seen this movie; it is a must see! Oya, sharpily go watch am!
