So American pop rock band- Maroon 5 released another melodic and listeners’ choice vibe titled Memories. Whenever I listen to this song, it leaves me misty-eyed. It brings back memories of those achievers’ death snatched away from us when their  warmth and love was still being felt. Speaking about Bose Aforbunoh Chuka, Mr. and Mrs. Ndidi, Veronica Ogun and Perpetua Olisa Chukwuma; may their beautiful souls keep resting in peace. Ki Olorun tubo ma fi orun ke wo (May God keep protecting/watching them in heaven.

Also, those interesting people in the entertainment industry that have died; Aaliyah, Left eye, 2pac, Goldie, DaGrin, Scott Walker, Paul Walker, The Notorious B.I.G, Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, J T Tom West, and so on. Whose death do y’all remember when you listen to this song?

ABOUT THE SONG MEMORIES BY MAROON 5

I feel the song “Memories” by Maroon 5 is quite self explanatory. The band used the song “Memories” to pay respect to those that are alive and are still doing wonderful things; those that are alive and they had great time together even though they are no longer together and those that they had good time with but are no more.  According to the band, these people would always be remembered or thought of even in death. Maroon 5 says their memories would always live on.

This is a well written song. The song has two verses. The chorus was taken thrice while the pre chorus and hook were taken twice.  It is neither a fast tempo nor slow tempo tune; mid tempo does it. The rhythm is not only melodious but also flows well. The major instruments used in the song include the keyboard and the guitar. The video which is a close-up on Adam Levine was dedicated to Jordi, Adam was soulful as he sang to the beat.

Here is what the below line may mean

“Now my heart feel like an ember and it’s lighting up the dark
I’ll carry these torches for ya that you know I’ll never drop, yeah”

This may mean that they would never stop remembering those that have departed and those that are dear to them. For the dead, they would always light candles or carry lights to honor them

Take a gander at the lyrics below

LYRICS TO MEMORIES BY MAROON 5

CHORUS

Here’s to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you’re not
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we’ve been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

VERSE 1

There’s a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain
When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same
Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name
‘Cause I can’t reach out to call you, but I know I will one day, yeah

PRE CHORUS

Everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody hurts someday, ay ay
But everything gonna be alright
Go and raise a glass and say, ay

HOOK

Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo
Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo, doo doo
Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo doo
Memories bring back, memories bring back you

VERSE 2

There’s a time that I remember when I never felt so lost
When I felt all of the hatred was too powerful to stop (Ooh, yeah)
Now my heart feel like an ember and it’s lighting up the dark
I’ll carry these torches for ya that you know I’ll never drop, yeah

PRE CHORUS

Everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody hurts someday, ay ay
But everything gonna be alright
Go and raise a glass and say, ay

CHORUS

Here’s to the ones that we got (Oh oh)
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you’re not
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we’ve been through (No, no)
Toast to the ones here today (Ay ay)
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories (Ay)
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

HOOK

Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo doo
Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo, doo doo
Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo doo
Memories bring back, memories bring back you
Doo doo, doo doo doo doo
Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo, doo doo
Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo doo (Ooh yeah)
Memories bring back, memories bring back you

OUTRO

Yeah, yeah, yeah
