(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: SELENSE BY SIMI “WHY IS THIS VIDEO SO SIMILAR TO TIWA SAVAGE’S 49-99”

IG @ogefashblog

In all honesty, the most melodious part of this song was the latter part of the bridge where she sang “Make you telli Sarafina, Johnny and Sikiratu (Oh oh selense). Make you tell Philomina. Use am well (Oh oh selense)”

I really love the flow of beat for that line. Even her dance is not a hia something. It is really good to see Simi move her body to the rhythm. She looks to me like someone that that finds a way to shy away from “dance”.

ABOUT THE SONG SELENSE BY SIMI

The artiste- Simi used the song “Selense” to advise people to make proper use of their time and not be lethargic. According to her, people shouldn’t waste time doing things that are irrelevant, people should not waste time doing nothing, but they should get their hands busy on legal things even if the income may not be big at the moment. This is because whatever time they use or allocate to any task could earn them some money. But if they waste time doing nothing, they can’t earn money; so the time is wasted.

The artistes sang basically in pidgin but fused it with Yoruba a Nigerian language. The song has two verses. The pre chorus and pre chorus were taken twice. The song has this well written and organized lyrics. The major instruments used include drum, piano, and the shakers. The song is melodious.

The video complements the track. I can really say she was pretty excited while shooting this video; I can feel the excitement in her.  The video was shot in Nigeira, it is basically an indoor shoot. Some scenes from the video  have some similarity with that of Tiwa’s 49-99; what ya think?

Also, at some point, I think she was also trying to demonstrate the way Tiwa Savage does; what ya think?

Take a gander at the lyrics below.
