(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: BAD INFLUENCE BY NAIRA MARLEY “BENI O (AS IN, YES) KILL THEM WITH THE SMILE!”

IG @ogefashblog

Now, this song; I so like.Beni o (Yes o), you have got to kill your enemies with a smile. There is just “one thing” that makes singer-Naira Marley stand out from the other musicians. What is that you may ask? His songs may not get the massive air play on radio/television like other musicians basically because his songs always have vulgar lines, but it always finds a way to be so popular; even more popular than the well played songs of his counterparts). Marlians; which basically means the fans of Naira Marley, here is another one for you. If you are not a Marlian; fuck out! #Winks

What is the song Bad Influence about?

The word bad influence means to impact someone negatively. It means to have an effect on someone negatively, influence someone negatively or make someone’s behaviour change from good to bad.

While the word menace means to be a threat or danger to someone or something.

The song bad influence talks about different things like how the artiste is being accused by the Government of being a bad influence to the youth because of the type of songs he sings; the selfish and greedy people in government who are not concerned about the citizens quality education; people who don’t want the progress and happiness of others but pray for their downfall and people who say one thing and do another.
Naira Marley also uses the song to tell people that how he lives his life is no one’s business as far they are not the one financing him.

The predominant instrument used in the song “Bad influence” are drums, piano and sax. The song comes in the two verses. This is actually the first time Naira Marley is releasing a song with about 90 percent standard English. His singing style is Yoruba mixed with pidgin.

The pre-chorus and chorus took a chunk part of the song they were taken 6 and 5 times respectively. But I love the song sha; it is not only melodious but capable of making you reflect on your attitude. In essence, it can make you want to yi pa da (as in turn over a new leaf). The lyrics are in array but the artiste used some words that are vulgar. View below

“Smoke weed, fuck girls, do what the fuck I want
You don’t even know what the fuck I want”

Ehen, this Naira Marley and weed; they are like 5 and 6!
