(+LYRICS+ TRANSLATION+ MEANING) MUSIC REVIEW: SHOTAN BY ZLATAN AND TIWA SAVAGE “HERE IS THE MEANING OF THE SONG SHOTAN!”

IG @ogefashblog

I don’t even understand the arrangement of this song. I thought “Shotan” was supposed to be the chorus, the part where Tiwa sang “Talo se’re se’re? Awon f’owo se’re da da, shotan oh, shotan, shotan…” but that line was only taken once. The lyrics are just disorganized; it is hard to differentiate the chorus from the pre chorus, hook and verses, somehow sha!

Now, about the song “Shotan”, the word Shotan is a Yoruba word in Nigeria which should mean “Is that all” but in the context of this song, it doesn’t mean that. It is a word that is used when someone or something is doubted. So what comes out next from the person is “Shotan” For instance, “Shotan” is used when you doubt something or someone’s greatness and skills before, but after seeing it yourself, the person beside you can say “Shotan” ; more like”Have you seen it or are you satisfied?”

Hence the song “Shotan” by Zlatan and Tiwa Savage basically asks people if they have seen it themselves. For Tiwa Savage, she is asking people if they have experienced her sexual prowess, her new style of music and her infallible presence in the music industry.

While Zlatan asks people if they now believe that he is making money in 6 figures which he says would soon turn to 9 figures. He says people’s voodoos can’t stop his talent. He advises people to work hard and do not over sleep if they do not want what belongs to them to be snatched away from them.

Take a gander at the lyrics below
