(+LYRICS+TRANSLATION+MEANING) MUSIC REVIEW: CALM DOWN BY TAYLOR SWIFT “IS TAYLOR SWIFT A LESBIAN?”

IG @ogefashblog

Well whether Taylor Swift is a lesbian? I would sayMay be! May be not!

Basically, Taylor Swift uses this song to pass across a message to people who are always very noisy, aggressive about people living a strange life as well as those that are hating on others. The artiste says no matter how people attack them verbally via social media or other platforms, no matter the amount of criticism or hurtful/degrading remark about them, it doesn’t change their personality. She says the verbal attacks doesn’t mean they would stop behaving or living a strange life.

Hence, Taylor Swift is advising that people should calm down as in relax or better still chillax and stop lamenting and worrying about the way people have decided to live their lives

For instance, “Homosexuality” tends to excite anger among citizens that are not in support of it. However, Taylor says no amount of shouting will make them less gay. She sang this in the verse 2

“’Cause shade never made anybody less gay”

FROM THE PLACARDS, YOU CAN TELL THAT PEOPLE ARE CRITICIZING HOMOSEXUALISM

“Adam and Eve” and not “Adam and Steve”

“Homosexuality is a sin”

“Morans”

Taylor Swift even made Petition for senate support of the equality act on change. She wants everybody to have equal right whether bisexual, homosexual or heterosexual.

The artiste also tells people to snap out of the dark ages  and adjust to the modern world. A dark age is a period where there was no much progress in the way of living speaking about technology, standard of living, knowledge and so on.

Also Taylor Swift makes it clear to people who want to bring down her personality or make hurtful remarks about her via social media that it doesn’t have an effect on her.

In totality, this is a very colourful video I must say. The rhythm flows well. The lyrics are in array. Both the verse 1 and verse 2 have the same number of stanzas.

Take a gander at the lyrics

LYRICS TO CALM DOWN BY TAYLOR SWIFT

VERSE 1

You are somebody that I don’t know
But you’re taking shots at me like it’s Patron
And I’m just like, damn, it’s 7 AM
Say it in the street, that’s a knock-out
But you say it in a Tweet, that’s a cop-out
And I’m just like, “Hey, are you okay?”

And I ain’t tryna mess with your self-expression
But I’ve learned a lesson that stressing and obsessing ’bout somebody else is no fun
And snakes and stones never broke my bones.

CHORUS

So oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
You need to calm down, you’re being too loud
And I’m just like oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh (oh)
You need to just stop
Like can you just not step on my gown?
You need to calm down

VERSE 2

You are somebody that we don’t know
But you’re coming at my friends like a missile. Why are you mad?
When you could be glad (You could be glad)
Sunshine on the street at the parade
But you would rather be in the dark age
Just making that sign must’ve taken all night

You just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace
And control your urges to scream about all the people you hate
‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay

CHORUS

So oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
You need to calm down, you’re being too loud
And I’m just like oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh (oh)
You need to just stop
Like can you just not step on his gown?
You need to calm down

BRIDGE

And we see you over there on the internet
Comparing all the girls who are killing it
But we figured you out
We all know now we all got crowns
You need to calm down

CHORUS/OUTRO

Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
You need to calm down (you need to calm down)
You’re being too loud (you’re being too loud)
And I’m just like oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh (oh)
You need to just stop (can you stop?)
Like can you just not step on our gowns?
You need to calm down
