(+LYRICS+TRANSLATION+MEANING) MUSIC REVIEW:BROWN SKIN GIRL BY BEYONCE FT WIZKID, BLUE IVY AND SAINT JHN “WIZKID JUST DRAGGED HIS VERSE, HE WAS SINGING LIKE…

@ogefashblog

So, I finally listened to the song “Brown skin girl” by Beyonce ft Wizkid, Saint Jhn and Blue Ivy. I must say odi (it is) interesting. The part I loved most in the song was where Beyonce and Wizkid sang together; infact that was where the song started getting interesting. Tht should be around  1 minutes 52 seconds. Wizkid dragged the first verse and pre.chorus, he was singing like he was taking one gospel worship song. In essence, he sang at a slow pace. Beyonce brought vigour to the tune.

So what is the song “Brown skin girl” about

The song “Brown skin girl”  encourages dark people to see the beauty in their colour and to also be proud o it. It talks about the need for people who are not light complexioned but dark, tan or better still like the artistes sang “Brown skin” to appreciate the colour of their skin. The artistes make them realize that people who have “Brown skin” are rare, unique and have great worth; they are priceless.

The artiste also use the song to encourage people who are about changing their skin colour because of one thing or the other, to retain it because that “Brown skin” colour is priceless.

According to them “Brown Skin Girls” are like “Pearls” compared to other skin complexions

“Singin’ brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin’…”

But all in all, the song has got great lyrics, although the rhythm has an acapella flow.

LYRICS TO THE SONG “BROWN SKIN GIRL” BY BEYONCE FT WIZKID, BLUE IVY AND SAINT JHN

INTRO (BLUE IVY AND SAINT JOHN)

Brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
Never trade you for anybody else
Singin’ brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin’…

VERSE 1 (WIZKID)
She said she really grew up poor like me
Don’t believe in nothing but the almighty
Just a likkle jeans and a pure white tee
She never did forever; be nobody wifey, yeah
So while I may not pretty boy, your heart is amiss
Play it like a villain ’cause she caught in a wave
Tonight ight ight I am walking away
Lined up my mind, on the grind, yeah, yeah

PRE CHORUS (WIZKID)

Tonight I might fall in love, depending on how you hold me
I’m glad that I’m calming down, can’t let no one come control me
Keep dancing and call it love, she fighting but falling slowly
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told me

CHORUS (WIZKID)

Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
Your back against the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say

VERSE 2 ( BEYONCE)
Pose like a trophy when Naomi’s walk in (Eh eh)
She need an Oscar for that pretty dark skin
Pretty like Lupita when the cameras close in
Drip broke the levee when my Kelly’s roll in
I think tonight she might braid her braids
Melanin too dark to throw her shade
She minds her business and winds her waist
Gold like 24k, okay

PRE CHORUS (BEYONCE AND WIZKID)

Tonight I might fall in love, depending on how you hold me
I’m glad that I’m calming down, can’t let no one come control me
Keep dancing and call it love, she fighting but falling slowly
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told me

CHORUS (BEYONCE AND WIZKID)

Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
Your back against the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say

 VERSE 3 (BEYONCÉ)
Oh, have you looked in the mirror lately? (Lately)
Wish you could trade eyes with me (Because)
There’s complexities in complexion
But your skin, it glow like diamonds
Dig me like the earth, you be giving birth
Took everything in life, baby, know your worth
I love everything about you, from your nappy curls
To every single curve, your body natural
Same skin that was broken, be the same skin taking over
Most things out of focus, view
But when you’re in the room, they notice you (Notice you)
‘Cause you’re beautiful
Yeah, you’re beautiful

PRE CHORUS (BEYONCE)
Them men, them gon’ fall in love, with you and all of your glory
Your skin is not only dark, it shines and it tells your story
Keep dancing, they can’t control you
They watching, they all adore you
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told you

CHORUS (BEYONCE AND WIZKID)
Brown skin girl (Brown skin girl), ya skin just like pearls (Brown skin girl)
Your back against the world (Oh)
I never trade you for anybody else, say (No, no)
Brown skin girl (Brown skin girl), ya skin just like pearls (Brown skin)
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say

OUTRO (BLUE IVY CARTER)
Brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin’…
