(+LYRICS+MEANING+TRANSLATION) MUSIC REVIEW: CAN WE PRETEND BY PINK FT CASH CASH “WHAT EXACTLY ARE THEY PRETENDING ABOUT?

IG @ogefashblog

So, I am wondering, what exactly are they pretending about? That they still like each other? Or they have the same preference? I think it is the latter.

The song “Can we pretend” is by songstress Pink. The artist featured Cash Cash on the beat. The word “pretend” means to “make believe” or to “make up something that is not true.” Can we pretend is a love song no doubt where the artiste seems to have enjoyed a relationship with a guy when they were much younger perhaps when she was 22. We can tell when she sang “Can we pretend I am 22 today…”

The relationship she reminisced about was much lively, adventurous, fun and it seems like they both wanted the same thing “I remember what we wanted. What we’d never take for granted. How our daddy issues took us to LA”

However, overtime the lovers’ preferences/taste changed. What she likes, he doesn’t like and what he likes she doesn’t like “Can we pretend that we both like the president?
Can we pretend that I really like your shoes? Hell yeah”
Nonethelss, irrespective of the differences in their taste, Pink is not ready to let go of the guy, she had rather stick with him and pretend to like what he likes and hate what he hates.

Great song. The video is not yet out except the lyric video which can be viewed here…

LYRICS TO THE SONG “CAN WE PRETEND” BY PINK FT CASH CASH

VERSE 1

I remember conversations
We were dancing up on tables
Taking pictures when we had nowhere to post
You were laughing, I was crying
We were dancing, we were dying
Sometimes I don’t know how we walked away

If I’m honest, what I liked
Were the things we didn’t know
Every morning, every night
I’d be beating down your door
Just to tell you what I’m thinking
But you already know
Screw this, I don’t wanna let it go

CHORUS

So can we pretend that I’m 22 today?
Dancing on the tables with you, oh yeah
Can we pretend that we all end up okay?
I just wanna forget with you, oh yeah
Can we pretend that we both like the president?
Can we pretend that I really like your shoes? Hell yeah
Can we pretend? ‘Cause honestly, reality, it bores me
Let’s pretend, oh, let’s make believe
Can we, can we pretend?

Can we pretend?

VERSE 2

I remember what we wanted
What we’d never take for granted
How our daddy issues took us to LA

If I’m honest, what I miss
Is not knowing what to say
And the feeling of your lips
And it haunts me every day
When you’d tell me what you’re thinking
But I’d already know
Screw this, I don’t wanna let it go
Oh yeah

CHORUS

So can we pretend that I’m 22 today?
Dancing on the tables with you, oh yeah
Can we pretend that we all end up okay?
I just wanna forget with you, oh yeah
Can we pretend that we both like the way it is? Hell yeah
Can we pretend that we like these fake-ass dudes? Oh yeah
Can we pretend? ‘Cause honestly, reality, it bores me
Let’s pretend, oh, let’s make believe
Can we, can we pretend?

Can we pretend?

REPEAT VERSE 1 (LATTER PART)

If I’m honest, what I liked
Were the things we didn’t know
Every morning, every night
I’d be beating down your door
Just to tell you what I’m thinking
But you’d already know
Screw this, I don’t wanna let it go

REPEAT CHORUS (LATTER PART)

So can we pretend that we both like the president?
Can we pretend that you like my fake-ass shoes? Oh yeah
Can we pretend? ‘Cause honestly reality, it bores me
Let’s pretend, oh, let’s make believe
Can we, can we pretend?

OUTRO

Can we pretend?
Oh, can we pretend?
Can we? Let’s make believe
Can we (Can we)

Can we pretend? ‘Cause honestly, reality, it bores me
Let’s pretend, oh, let’s make believe
Can we, wan we pretend?
Honestly!
