SYNOPSIS TO THE MOVIE- BABEJE
Promiscuous Bolaji (Acted by Saheed Olanrewaju Bello) is very overprotective around his wife- Darasimi (Acted by Wunmi Toriola) and doesn’t want to see her around any male figure. Bolaji even goes as far as even hiring Okele (Acted by Tunde Usman) to always spy on the wife and call him whenever he sees her with another man that’s not him. Bolaji’s action is always toxic whenever he sees Darasimi with another man. His wife overlooks his behavior and counts it as love but the day Darasimi finds out his promiscuous nature, she does this to him….Want to know what happened? Find out in the plot.
PLOT
Bolaji (Acted by Saheed Olanrewaju Bello) while transacting business with his clients receives a call from Okele (Acted by Tunde Usman) that leaves him in distress. Okele who is the person Bolaji employed to always spy on his wife- Darasimi (Acted by Wunmi Toriola) reveals to Bolaji that his wife is chatting with another man in a restaurant. Bolaji immediately leaves his clients without taking an excuse to the location Okele directed him to about his wife. On getting there, Bolaji attacks Darasimi without even verifying who the man is. It is when Darasimi’s brother returns from the toilet that he discovers that Darasimi is actually hanging out with her brother. Bolaji leaves the restaurant remorsefully while Darasimi lies to her brother the reason for her husband’s attitude, but her brother knows that she is telling a lie just to cover up for her husband’s inability to trust her around men.
Bolaji in anger meets and attacks his informant- Okele for giving him wrong information about his wife. Okele explains to Bolaji that he had no idea that he was Darasimi’s brother. Bolaji then instructs Okele to always take a picture or video of the man Darasimi is with whenever he is giving her informtion so he can confirm that the man is not a relative like the last scenario. Without dropping a penny for Okele, Bolaji zooms off.
Bolaji returns to his office and finds out from his staff that his client- Mr. Sagba (Acted by Gbenga Oshinaiga) and assistant already left in anger because of the manner in which he left hurriedly without saying a word. The clients vow to award the contract to another company. Bolaji is not bordered about the loss as he feels going to confirm his wife’s faithfulness is more important. He even lies to his staff that he had gone to attend to an issue that was between life and death.
Later in the evening, Bolaji apologies to his wife Darasimi for his earlier misconduct at the restaurant. He promises never to do such again. Darasimi is not totally convinced that he will not do that again since it is not his first time. She pleads with her husband to let go of whatever past he keeps saying is the cause of his inability to trust another woman and learn to trust her. Bolaji agrees to let go of his past.
Bolaji says goodbye to one of his staff while his accountant stays back in his office. As soon as they realize they are the only two left in the premises, they both make out.
Bolaji is hanging out with his friends Charles (Acted by Peters Ijagbemi) and Jide (Acted by Adams Kehinde). Charles is married while Jide is single but has a girlfriend (Acted by Irewole Olaniyan) who is also hanging out with them. Bolaji’s phone conversation with Okele makes his friends know that he is still sying on his wife which they are unhappy about. They warn him to desist from such act, Bolaji shuns them. Infact, he tells them to also start spying on their women too especially Charles who is married.
At night, when Bolaji’s wife- Darasimi is fast asleep, he grabs her phone and unlocks it with her finger. He afterwards goes through her phone.
Bolaji rushes out of the bathroom with soap all over his body at the sound of a male voice in their sitting room, the male voice happens to be Darasinmi’s brother who is asking her for 500, 000 naira. Both Darasinmi and brother just stare at Bolaji in shock. Bolaji grabs his phone and pretends to be on the phone.
Meanwhile Charles’s wife is cheating on him. Her boyfriend says she should leave her husband to come and be with him but she says she can’t. They both head to a hotel to have fun.
Bolaji is seen making out with his accountant when another staff walks in on them. He also makes out with that staff.
Bolaji after the close of work leaves for home. On getting home he asks his wife-Darasimi about the man she is with since he imagined her naked with another man some seconds ago before getting home.
Charles sees a message from his wife’s lover that says “I can’t have enough of you” This makes him know that his wife is cheating on him which makes him angry. He shows his wife the message, beats her up mercilessly and sends her packing afterwards.
Bolaji is with his friends- Charles and Jide. Charles is still brooding after discovering that his wife is having an affair with someone else. Jide tries to calm him while Bolaji insults him for not heeding to his advice to get someone to spy on his wife. Bolaji’s words are not bringing relief to Charles so he walks out in anger.
Bolaji meets up with the accountant and apologizes to her for leaving her for another staff while making out in the office the other day. Bolaji knows that his misbehavior the other day is the reason the accountant has been giving him attitude in the office for the past weeks. He again apologizes to her and he drives them out.
Darasimi sends one of her employee- Adeola (Acted by Bukunmi Oluwashina) to the house to get her ATM card for her. Bolaji is the only one at home, so he rapes Adeola.
Bolaji goes to Darasimi’s shop unannounced to be sure she is not in there with another man. Her employees tell him that she is yet to get to the shop and he starts suspecting her of being with someone else. While grumbling about Darasimi’s absence in the shop, a customer in the shop takes interest in him and follows him out. Darasimi walks in almost immediately but did not stumble on her husband Bolaji. Her employees let her know that he just left; apparently Bolaji left hurriedly with the female customer in his wife’s shop.
Bolaji accuses his wife- Darasimi of being promiscuous for deciding to see another specialist instead of his doctor. Darasimi tries to explain to Bolaji that her health problem is not his doctor’s specialty but this still doesn’t calm him. Bolaji shouts at Darasimi and threatens to slap her if she doesn’t leave his presence.
Darasimi is with her friend Fadekemi (Acted by Nkechi Blessing Sunday) who is unhappy about the way her husband keeps beating her up and leaving her face ugly. Darasimi defends her husband and says love makes him do those things. Darasimi tells her friend that Bolaji never showed acts of jealousy while they were courting. Fadekemi tells her that men pretend a lot. Fadekemi pities her friend and hopes she doesn’t die in the husband’s hands in the name of love.
Bolaji apologizes to his wife Darasimi for his wrong deeds and also gifts her a car. Darasimi is not happy with him so she walks away.
Bolaji is also having an affair with his wife’s friend Fadekemi. While together, Fadekemi tells him that she is not happy about the way he keeps beating her friend. He says he doesn’t want to see her with anybody. Fadekemi wonders why Bolaji is so toxic whenever he sees Darasimi with other men when he is actually cheating on her. Both continue their love making.
Charles’ wife goes to her lover’s house with the intention of living with him after being sent away by the husband. The lover also throws her out and says he is not interested in her that he was just playing games with her.
Bolaji after dropping his wife at the place she is heading to heads back to his office. As he is going, he sights a lady with the same hairstyle and stature with his wife- Darasimi on motorcycle and feels the lady is Darasimi. He is unable to catch up with the bike man (Acted by Omotayo Adefeye), but as soon as he sights the bike man, he pleads with him to take him to where he dropped his last female customer still thinking the person is his wife. The bike man is reluctant to do so but when Bolaji promises to give him 2000 Naira, he agrees and immediately takes him there. Bolaji without verifying if the lady is his wife or not beats the lady. Meanwhile, the lady is not his wife but a prostitute. The lady and her click beat him up. He runs out of the compound without looking at the road which makes a car knock him down.
At the hospital, the doctor (Acted by Aisha Lawal) reveals to Darasimi that her husband’s spinal cord was affected and he would be on a wheelchair. The doctor explains to the wife what had transpired before the accident. Darasimi is embittered because her husband is now on the wheel chair because of jealousy.
Darasimi vows never to leave the husband despite his horrible predicament.
Bolaji is informed that Darasimi already filed for a divorce. When Darasimi returns home, he asks her why she filed for a divorce and she exposes all his secret that she has been keeping mute about. She reminds him of his affair with her friend- Fadekemi and how he raped one of her staff- Adeola who got pregnant and then aborted the pregnancy. She lets him know that it was when Adeola fainted and was rushed to the hospital that she discovered the truth. And for Fadekemi, she tells him that she came to confess herself. Darasimi also reveals to Bolaji how his informant- Okele confessed to her how he always spied on her after she paid his 3000 naira shopping bill. She tells him how people go about calling him the name “Babeje (Spoil the place)” because wherever he steps foot, he must mess around with the ladies that are there.
Darasimi leaves Bolaji’s house afterwards, but he is regretful.
