THE REVIEW

Dope track I must say!

Lyrically, the song comes in two verses. The pre-chorus “Jehovah Rapha” was taken once, the chorus “He has given me victory,” was taken thrice while the post chorus “Hallelujah eh, halle,” was taken six times. The post-chorus predominated the song. The hook “Because of Jesus everyday na shakara I dey do,” was sung twice while the bridge “If Jesus has given you victory,” came once.

The lyrics are well arranged, both verse 1 and 2 have the same number of lines and the verses relate to the entire theme of the song which is “Success” or “Victory”

The song is meaningful as it talks about overcoming battle and becoming successful in all one does through the mercy of God.

The song arrangement: Intro/Chorus- Verse 1- Pre-Chorus- Chorus- Post-Chorus (2x)- Verse 2- Hook- Chorus- Post-Chorus (2x)- bridge- Hook- Chorus- Post-Chorus- Hook.

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the chorus “He has given me victory,” Eben basically shares God’s wonders upon him to the world. According to the artiste, God has made him successful in everything. He says God has made him conquer all battles.

In the Verse 1 “All the days of my life I praise you,” the artiste is thankful to God for his love upon his life and all he has given him to him. He says all the days of his life he would give praise to the Lord.

In the Pre-chorus “Jehovah Rapha Jehovah Nissi,” the artiste eulogizes God with wonderful names. He testifies to God’s uniqueness; he says there is no one like him.

In the Post-Chorus “Halleluyiah,” the artiste uses the word “Halleluyiah” to express his love for God, to adore God and to show his gratitude.

In the Verse 2 “Come and see what the Lord has done for me,” the artiste calls people’s attention to what the Lord has done for him. He says God has freed him from sadness and he will keep praising God for that.

In the hook “Because of Jesus everyday na shakara I dey do,” the artiste says he receives whatever he asks from God twice in quantity.  He further says God’s grace and mercy walks with him day in day out.

In the bridge “If Jesus has given you victory,” the artiste calls on people whom God has given victory to appreciate the lord with their dance and praises.

WHAT DOES THE SONG VICTORY BY EBEN MEAN

The word “Victory” according to the English dictionary means to succeed in one’s effort.  Hence the artiste uses the word Victory to show and tell the world how God has made him triumphant in all he does and in all that concerns him. He lets people know that his life is worth showing off because of Jesus.

LOCATION

The video was shot in Nigeria; it is an outdoor shoot.

COSTUME

I love their costume and the colour combination; white and red. The major guys in the video were all on white attires and red foot wears of the same brand. There were two other guys that wore the same footwear of the same brand but of blue colour.

For the ladies, it is pretty obvious that they could not all afford to get the same red foot wears; in essence their footwear was not unified perhaps the reason they did not show their foot wears.

The other invited guests were casually dressed.

SOUND

Very tuneful! I love the flow of rhythm. It has an hip-hop beat. It is a fast-tempo song. The drums and piano used made the song interesting to the ears. The back-up singers were all unified in their various parts and did not in any time go screechy. It is a well organized sound.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

I love the video; “well coordinated” is the word. But there is just this blurred nature the video has; the visuals are not too clear.

JUST WONDERING

  • Why Eben was “rojuing” permit me to use that word; as in he was just shining his eyes.
  • Why he did his mouth like this (View picture below)
