(+LYRICS + MEANING) MUSIC REVIEW: INSOMNIA BY DAYA “I THOUGHT I SAW HER SLEEPING IN THIS PARTICULAR SCENE!”

We are now on IG @ogefashblog

Dope song by Daya. I think if I am to write my own version of Insomnia, it would be…

I got I got I got Insomnia, ah ‘Cause I can’t sleep without writing No, I don’t want to think about sleeping Wish I could visit and thank all readers (insomnia)

Hmm! Moving on…But I thought I saw Daya sleeping in one of the scenes? Did I really catch her sleeping? No, just kidding around, she was eagle-eyed but soulful. Anyway that is by the way; let us take a quick gander at the lyrics before the main review·

THE REVIEW
Lyrically, the song comes in two verses. The last seven lines of verses 1 and 2 are the same “I keep on hoping to find you…”

The chorus was sung four times. The song is meaningful as it talks about the artiste’s inability to sleep otherwise known as “Insomnia” (just like the title of the son) because of the absence of the man she loves.

The lyrics flow well and also flow with the beat. Although, I was hoping that the lyrics will give a bit detail about where this person that has made her restless is. From this particular line “Baby, it’s only been one night, feel like it’s been like a week,” we don’t know whether the person died or they broke up or he traveled; really, no information about him.

Song arrangement: Intro/Chorus- Verse 1- Chorus- Verse 2- Chorus (2X)- Outro

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG
In the intro/ Chorus “Ah, ah, ’cause I can’t sleep without you” the artiste lets us know how sleepless she has been because the one she loves is not around her. She wished he was around to cuddle him.

In the Verse 1 “I’ve been down for two days” the artiste reveals to us that because of the absence of her significant other, she has been somewhat unwell and restless. She says despite the fact that she took some drugs like Tylenol to relieve her pains, she is still down. She says his absence around her is making her go out of her mind. She wishes he was with her. These lines show how restless the artiste is “Reaching in between the sheets, tossing and turning, flipping the pillow, pulling the curtains”

In the Verse 2 “I can hear your voice now” the artiste is either dreaming, imagining or thinking about her significant other.

WHAT DOES THE SONG “INSOMNIA” BY DAYA MEAN
The word “Insomnia” according to the #English Dictionary is a sleeping disorder that is known for its symptoms of unrest and the inability to sleep
This definition applies to the song “Insomnia” as the artiste uses the title of the song to show her level of restlessness as well as her inability to sleep because the man whom she loves is not around her.
