THE REVIEW

So I stopped to ask Barrister Dumebi Ayeni her view on this song and here is what she has to say…

“I certainly love this song! It gives hope to those who are about to give up or relent on their effort. It spurs people to keep striving irrespective of the challenges because someday, just someday; when they least expect, that breakthrough will come and they shall be great.”

Lyrically, the song comes in two verses both sung in Pidgin. The verse 1 and verse 2 have the same number of lines which shows that the lyrics are in array. The lyrics flow well with the beat and are meaningful. The song basically talks about the ability to bear with someone or put up with someone in whatever they are going through til things get better. Or better still, just say the ability to endure difficult times with someone until things get better.

Song arrangement – Hook- Verse 1- chorus- hook- verse 2- chorus-hook- outro- chorus

BREAKDOWN OF THE SONG

In the Verse 1 “She turn my love down low” Rudeboy says the lady he loves denies and disregards him because he does not have money. The lady dumps him because he doesn’t have money. However, the artist says when he eventually starts making money, the lady starts yielding to him with the attempt to get him back into his life, forgetting the days she had left him when he had nothing.

In the Chorus “Reason with me; if I no get today, I go get am tomorrow” the artiste says he tries persuading the lady he loves to understand his financial constrain at the moment. Her lack of understanding makes him wonder if the lady desires his death despite how much effort he is putting into his work. He tries assuring her that even if he lacks money at the moment, he won’t lack money in the future because things would surely get better.

In the verse 2 “You see this life, no be so-oo” The artist recalls how he used to hustle about-moving from one place to another before things start getting rosy for him. He recalls that the period he was struggling, his lover left him. He also says because his lady left him, in the month of December, he suffered loneliness and had no one to show him love.

He also expresses how he so desires to spend eternity with her, but after dumping him, it is however not feasible anymore.

WHAT DOES THE SONG MEAN “REASON WITH ME” BY RUDEBOY
The song ‘Reason with me” by Rudeboy talks about the need for people to understand their spouse’s financial condition at the moment and the ability to manage difficult situation with loved ones till things get better. It talks about the ability to patiently endure difficult times or put up with someone in difficult times or being with one in good and bad times til things get rosy

In truth, everyone has the potential for greatness, so no matter the situation, things will get better (Whether sooner or later)

So you can decide to endure the days of nothing till there is something or walk away and probably regret it later just like the case of Rudeboy’s lover.

SOUND
So melodious! The artiste sang expressively to the beat. He was consistent with the style of rhythm. The instruments used majorly in the song-drums, piano and shakers made the song interesting to the ears.

LOCATION
The video was shot in Nigeria. The location tallies with the theme of the song. A poor accommodation for one with a poor income and a better accommodation for one with a better income.

STORY BEHIND THE VIDEO
In the song, Rudeboy suffers hell in the hands of his significant other because he does not have money. Despite how she treats him, he still shows her love and never wants her to leave his side. But the Lady is no more interested in staying in a poverty stricken relationship, so she dumps him. Rudeboy persuades his significant other to stay with him in their difficult period assuring her of better days. However, she ignores him and walks away from the relationship.  A female neighbour begs her to still be patient but she shuns her as well.

Years later, Rudeboy becomes successful and the lady wants to come back into his life. But its however too late as he is already married to the female neighbor that had taken care of him when he had nothing. The girl don get bele (pregnant) self.

VIDEO PRODUCTION
Quality video, great story concept. Great costuming! The video indeed complements the track. Great performances from all that featured in the video. Their expressions were real and convincing and this made the video interesting to watch. Rudeboy was very expressive all through the song. Thumb up to that his fist lover, she should try acting in Nollywood, cause she is really good.
