SYNOPSIS TO THE MOVIE PEPPERMINT
When no one shows up at the tenth birthday party of Carly North (Acted by CAILEY FLEMING), her parents Riley and Chris North (Acted by JENNIFER GARNER and JEFF HEPHNER) take it upon themselves to give her an unforgettable birthday experience by taking her to an amusement park to have unending fun as well as make her forget the disappointment of the day. Little did the North family know that there is this bad man- Diego (Acted by JUAN PABLO RABA) waiting around the corner to smoke them because he thinks Chris and his friend Mickey (CHRIS JOHNSON) want to rob him of his ill-gotten money. Diego succeeds in killing Mickey, will he also succeed in killing the Norths? Find out more below…
PLOT
An embittered woman- Riley North (Acted by Jennifer Garner) is battling with one of the men, who murdered her husband and daughter- Chris and Carly North (Acted by Jeff Hephner and Cailey Fleming). The man stabs her deeply on her leg, but she is able to kill him eventually.
Riley is in excruciating pain after sustaining injury from the battle with the man. She enters her hiding place where she treats herself. While treating herself, she picks up a picture of her husband and daughter together which makes her recall how some group of men decimated them.
FLASH BACK (FIVE YEARS AGO)
Riley and daughter- Carly (Acted by Jennifer Garner and Cailey Fleming) are about to zoom off when a neighbor- Peg (Acted by Pell James) and daughter approach them talking about the park. They seem to be at loggerheads. Carly doesn’t seem to like Peg and feels her mum should have punched Peg on the face.
Both Riley and Chris North intend to throw a birth party for Carly’s tenth year. Riley drops off her child in her husband’s shop- Chris (Acted by Jeff Hephner) and then heads back to Second Commerce bank where she works. Riley’s boss however tells her that she would be closing for the day late.
Mickey goes to visit his friend- Chris North, where he tells him his intention to rob someone He intends to rob an infamous Drug baron- Diego Garcia (Acted by Juan Pablo Raba). Mickey asks Chris to do nothing in the robbery except drive him in and out of the building. Chris shows apathy in taking part in the business. Mickey tries convincing him to be part of the job even if it is just to drive, so he can have money to take care of his family. Chris North is skeptical about taking part in the business.
After the close of work, Riley rushes home in order to catch up with her daughter’s birthday party but she is surprised when she sees no invited guests except her husband- Chris and their daughter- Carly who is already sad that people did not show up. Riley finds out that the reason people did not show up for Carly’s birthday party is because her neighbor- Peg (Acted by Pell James) purposely fixes a holiday get together at the park at the same time and day for Carly’s birthday party thereby diverting all guests to the park. Meanwhile, Chris calls Mickey to inform him that he is not interested in the business. To make little Carly cheerful again, Riley and Chris take their daughter to an amusement park to have lots of fun. She has lots of ice-cream with the peppermint flavor, rides on the Ferris wheel and do a whole lot more. As they are about retiring to their house, some group of men who work for an infamous Drug baron- Diego Garcia (Acted by Juan Pablo Raba) trace them to the park and shoot them all. Both Chris and Carly die but Riley narrowly escapes death after staying in coma for weeks
Meanwhile, Diego Garcia cuts off the head of Mickey for planning to rob him.
Riley is finally awake from coma. Detective Stan Carmichael (Acted by John Gallagher Jr) is at the hospital with her. He wants to hear about the attack from Riley to further help with their investigation. Detective Stan tells Riley the reason behind the attack is that her late husband- Chris and friend- Mickey intended robbing Diego although Chris refused to be part of the robbery. Detective Stan also lets Riley know that they have in their custody three suspects who may have hands in her family’s death. He tells Riley that they will need her to identify the shooters soonest because the police will be releasing them the next day since they have been in their custody for too long. Detective Stan before leaving gives her some of the recovered personal items after the attack which makes her remember the faces of the killers.
Riley is at the station where she identifies the three shooters behind her family’s murder.
Detective Moses Beltran (Acted by John Oritz) and Detective Stan are together. Detective Moses tells detective Stan that he suspects Diego Garcia has insiders among the police that is revealing information to him, oblivious that Detective Stan is one of them.
A lawyer- Mr. Robert Henderson (Acted by Michael Mosley) standing in for the three shooters want Riley to admit that all she has been saying about them is an invented story. He tells Riley that no matter how much she points fingers at the people who killed her family, in the end, nothing will bring her family back to life. He bribes her to keep mum about it. Riley in anger throws his money at him as well as throw him out of her house.
In the court, the lawyer- Henderson tackles Riley making it look like she is inventing the story. He uses the anti-psychotic medication he had seen at her place the other day to accuse her more of making up the stories. He says her claims against the three shooters are false. The judge- James Steven (Acted by Jeff Harlan) who is also among Diego’s league supports the lawyer. He asserts that the case lacks the sufficient evidence to make the shooters stand trial, hence, he dismisses the case. This angers Riley who tries to attack the shooter but then they suppress her with one of their gadgets. This makes Judge James declare that Riley should be taken to the Psychiatric ward
As they are taking Riley to the Psychiatric ward, she finds a way to break loose.
BACK TO PRESENT DAY
Riley kills the three shooters behind her family’s death and hangs them on a Ferris wheel
The detectives- Detective Stan, Detective Moses and Agent Lisa Inman (Acted by Annie Ilonzeh) are all about arresting Riley after the death of the three men who murdered her family. From a clip about Riley that surfaced online, they are able to tell what she has been doing in the past five years after her family’s murder. They found out that she stole 55,000 dollars from Second Commerce Bank where she used to work before and that she robbed a gun store. The detectives while still planning on how to catch Riley, recall that it is the 5th anniversary of her family’s murder.
Riley heads over to Judge James Steven’s (Acted by Jeff Harlan) place, the judge who had corruptly dismissed the case letting go of the people responsible for the death of her family. Riley ties him down on a chair and tells him that because he betrayed the oath and refused to serve justice she would give him justice. She blows the judge’s house with him inside afterwards.
The detectives while still talking about Riley hear about the explosion at the Judge’s place and his death
Diego’s boys tell him about Riley’s killings of the three shooters, lawyer and the judge.
While in a vehicle, Riley hands over the toy she had picked from the judge’s place to a little boy. The boy tells Riley that the father always drinks and doesn’t do his fatherly duties. When the vehicle stops, Riley follows the boy and the father. She pulls out a gun on him and warn him to take care of his son else she would deal with him.
Disguising as a garbage packer, Riley heads to the company that acts as a front for Diego’s illegal business and kills them all. She however spares one of them whom she asks to go deliver the message after which she burns down the place.
Diego gets to know about what Riley had done and orders his men to kill her.
The media is all about Riley North and her killings and the resolve to kill all those behind her family’s death.
The detectives are curious about where Riley has been hiding. Meanwhile, detective Moses feels that detective Stan has a thing for Riley.
Diego and his men make plans to eliminate Riley. They are able to figure out her next place of attack. They suspect she would go check them out in the ware house. They plant a bomb there but she is able to escape it. Riley pursues Diego’s men and kills them. She then heads straight to Diego’s building.
Agent Inman is able to discover Riley’s hiding place. She visits there with the intention of getting information about her, but no one tells her anything because they all see Riley as their angel. She sees an unlocked van, opens it and finds Riley’s items there
While Diego and one of his men are rejoicing thinking they have finally killed Riley, they hear on the news that she is still alive, this dampens their spirit.
Riley enters Diego’s building and a shootout ensues leaving most of Diego’s men dead. When Riley finally sees Diego face to face, she gets distracted by his daughter who is about the same age with her late daughter- Carly, this creates an avenue for Diego to stab her. Diego and his men runaway while Riley finds a way out of the building staggering.
Riley goes to Peg’s house where she ties her down. She lets her go but not without giving her a punch. She threatens to burn down Peg in the building did not do it.
The police are investigating the incident that happened at Diego’s residence. Meanwhile, detective Stan kills Agent Inman.
After multiple stabs inflicted by Diego on Riley, she collapses in her hiding place. Meanwhile, Diego and his men locate her hiding place and search tirelessly for her. Riley sees an apparition of Carly who tells her to wake up. Diego’s men use the traces of her blood to locate Riley. She is able to kill a lot of Diego’s men. Riley soon finds agent Inman’s dead body where Detectice Stan dumped it. She grabs her phone and calls the media house. On live broadcast, she reveals everything to them about Diego and detective Stan. She also gives them the location. The police from the news get her location and swing into action.
Diego enraged that none of his men is able to capture Riley grabs Maria (Acted by Kyla Drew) and threatens to kill her if Riley doesn’t turn up. Riley not wanting the little girl to get hurt surrenders herself to Diego who tortures her mercilessly. Meanwhile, Riley taunts him long enough for the police to show up. When Diego sights the police, he kills Detective Stan and then tries to run away. Riley chases after Diego and pins him down with a gun. The police soon surround them and ask Riley to drop her weapon. But Riley is not ready to drop her weapon without killing Diego. She shoots Diego on the head while the police in return shoot her, although, she manages to escape.
Riley goes to the gravestone of her family where she wishes to also die. Meanwhile, Detective Moses suspects that Riley would be at her family’s gravestone, so they go and search for her there. She is taken to the hospital for treatment under police surveillance. She is handcuffed to the bed as the NYPD head- Chief Matthew Rogers already says she will answer for all her actions and stand trials for multiple count of homicide. Detective Moses later visits Riley in the hospital. He seems to be on the side of those who support Riley’s actions, so, he stylishly gives her key to the handcuffs. Minutes later, Riley escapes from the hospital.
