THIS ADVERT IS CALLED “STERLING BANK’S SPECTA ADVERT OR BETTER STILL, THE 5 MINUTES MADNESS”
This advert got my undivided attention as I laughed from the beginning till the end without blinking an eye for half a second. The intro is also very catchy. You need to watch this advert, nna mhen, they are all great dancers. After watching the advert, I was like ” EHEN! NA ON TOP BORROWED MONEY UNA DEY DANCE LIKE THIS, IF NA DASH NKO…”
Seriously, if they give these kind of people free money, oma (they would) jump on the roof ke or even start flying… But really, this is a nice advert. I really love their energy…
THE ADVERT
At the beginning of the advert, a lady while in a bus gets a message on her phone that her loan from Sterling bank has been approved. With so much joy, she flings her handkerchief away (why she no fling her phone away na ) and starts dancing while still viewing the message. She continues dancing not minding that she is outdoor and that the people that boarded the bus may think she has gone mad. (As the case may be, the passengers did not even look towards her direction at first, but later they were forced to)
Another guy who receives the same message that is loan has been approved while on the road also flings his bag disregarding the valuable documents that is contained in the bag. He dances on and on not minding that he is on the road (This means the loan that was approved was more important than the documents that fell from the bag.) That his kind of dance looks like the “To hell with that Bossy Boss”
While on site, another man also receives this same alert that his loan has been approved. He instantly leaves his work and colleagues to start dancing while his puzzled colleagues stare at him .
A pregnant woman in the hospital also starts dancing for the same reason.
A man at the barbing salon also gets the alert and displays his own few minutes of madness as he flings away his jacket and starts dancing.
A female staff at the hotel also gets this alert and starts dancing, even when someone passes by her, she doesn’t stop dancing. Instead she almost hits the guest in her extreme excitement. Meanwhile the guest thinks she is mad, so he tries to move away from her.
MESSAGE
Through Sterling Bank “Specta”, individuals, organisations can get quick loan, according to the advert as quick as “5min”. (Personal loan, payday loan, medical finance, wedding finance, holiday finance education, finance Loan on personal project finance/rent finance. They used “dance” to convey the message and it was well passed across, especially when the first dancer’s message was displayed.
REVIEW
This is a very interesting advert. Initially, I thought there wasn’t going to be reactions by the other people around them as they showed their excitement through dance after receiving the message, but later I saw their reactions. Their facial expression fitted the happening of the moment; they were puzzled. However there should have been a scene where someone was approached and asked to share reason for his or her 5 minutes madness and the person would have done that (even if it is not said out, their communication would be written on the screen). Thumbs up to all those that featured in the advert, they are all terrific dancers; it seems they recruited dancers for the advert. I love the beat; very tuneful and catchy.

This is an extremely hilarious and interesting advert whereby Sterling bank users display immense excitement or better still 5 minutes madness when their loan requests are granted. All the dancers are also vibrant.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids.
