Succeeding former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (now the Federal Minister of Power, Works and Housing), you would agree with me that since Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s tenure started as the “Governor of Lagos State” on 29 May 2015, he has been working non stop. Surely, the popular saying “Ambode is working, Lagos is working” can not be regarded as fallibility.
Starting with roads, Gov. Ambode has done virtually all roads in Lagos that citizens have been complaining about its deplorable state; if work is yet to be completed in those areas complained about, then it is on-going.
There is also the construction of bridges, flyovers and so on. He made available the lake rice which is cheaper, thereby providing food for citizens. He provided employment and he is still doing that. He is also empowering youths under the LSESP (LAGOS STATE EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT PROJECT). What people do not know is that after undergoing training under this scheme, 30 percent of the best students are given automatic jobs while others are given start up capital and working tools. (Regiser here http://www.lsesp.ng/home/register)
Though Governor Ambode has promised to fix the terrible power situation in Lagos, but he still needs to pay more attention to environmental sanitation in Lagos as day in day out, Lagos State is becoming more and more filthy; I mean, where is LAWMA (Lagos Waste Management Authority), are they sleeping ni? What of Vision Scape- Ambode’s New Waste Management Company; I can’t see their vision coming to pass as Lagos is still as dirty as “Dirt” itself
There is also the security issue which needs to be urgently looked into. People are losing their loved ones because people are now confidently committing crimes such as killing and robbing people even in broad daylight. But still we laud Ambode’s efforts so far.
However, not much can be said about other governors under the APC Party even though Ambode some months ago extend a helping hand to some governors. He gave Governors of Yobe, Adamawa and Borno states a cheque of N50m each as support towards the rebuilding of their states that have been ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency. Ejo eyin APC governors, ema sun ooo.
Also, not much can be said of the incumbent president of the country- President Buhari who is under the same party with Gov Ambode and has been in office since May 2015. It has been more of words than actions. A lot of unfulfilled promises. What of the period he was blaming the GEJ led administration; PHEW! Biko Sir, Dan Allah, before 2019 we want more actions. I believe you can do it.
Finally, you would again agree with me that Ambode’s APC seems different from other State governors under thesame APC party as well as Buhari’s APC. If you have a different opinion fill us in. Or let us know if the works of your APC governor, can be compared with the works of our APC governor in Lagos State. Or better still, fill us in on President Buhari’s tremendous works so far
Ambode has shown that “APC pass APC” and if an election is to be conducted now, if he has a million votes, others may be struggling to have 100 votes, because his works are evident and he is running a transparent government. More grace to him and to those leaders contributing their quota to lift Nigeria from Grass to Grace!
