MUSIC REVIEW: YOUR LOVE BY TEKNO
SHALLOW LYRICS EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMS TEKNO IS TRYING TO PROMOTE HIS NEW DANCE “ELUKU DANCE”
I really do not know how many more videos with the title “Your love” Tekno has out there. There is one video on “Your love” where he featured Reekado Banks and there is another one without him. However, here is the lyrics to the video that doesn’t feature Reekado.

LYRICS TO “YOUR LOVE” BY TEKNO

(LYRICS TO THIS SON APPEARED FIRST ON OGEFASH BLOG)

THE REVIEW

This song is quite an interesting one, it is just so sad that for the 3 minutes 55 seconds of the song, Tekno was not able to deliver creative lyrics; the lyrics were sleepy; so very shallow. The chorus was better than the verse.

Are Nigerian artistes ever going to sing a full track without using words like “ ah, eh, oh, chai” and its likes. I mean, all through this song, that was what I was hearing. The song was delivered in pidgin.

I also noticed that Tekno sang this line “Eluku gyrate, o gyrate, Eluku dance” severally. Is he introducing a new dance step into the Nigerian dance world and he is doing it in a coded way so people wont think that he is trying to overthrow the Shaku Shaku dance.

This particular line in Verse 1, I just don’t know, it was as if he switched to another girl and then back to the original girl “Girl you do me something wey nobody do me o. Eluku gyrate, o gyrate, Eluku dance. Kenyan girl with a big waist o (All of them wanna know my Kenyan girl). Everything correct with a fine face o. Oh girl your body banging like this or baby girl your body banging like that. For your love I am dancing like this, baby let’s do it like that”

Incomplete line “Why you go dey do like this”. Like how exactly did the Kenyan Girl with big waist come into the verse where he was confessing his love to a certain girl. Lyrically, your love really has shallow lyrics.

WHAT IS THE SONG “YOUR LOVE” BY TEKNO REALLY ABOUT

It is no doubt a love song. Tekno is deeply in love with a certain girl who is part of a dance group; perhaps the Eluku dance group. He is so much in love with her that he feels the need to always spend time with her when he is not working (Ehen, I go love o). He is so drawn to her. He vows never to take her love for granted, mess around with her heart or leave her side considering how they started together. Perhaps, she has been with him through thick and thin. This he sang in the chorus “I no go play with your love o, I no go do you like that o (eeh eeh). My baby I know how we start am (aahahahah). Forever I go dey by your side o”

“I say Amaka gawu o (ah), chop all of my money o,. Eluku dance no be jupa o, baby girl see you try for me, try for me”

LOCATION

The video was shot outdoor a place looking like a park where the dance group did their rehearsals. There was also some indoor shots where the girl was winning for Tekno.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Tekno made the video interesting to watch, his expression to the lyrics was flawless. He should try acting mhen! From his expression, one could tell that he was deeply in love with the lady. The video doesn’t really tell a story, apart from the fact that Tekno is in love with her and goes the extra mile to make himself available for her during her activities. Hence the reason he stayed with her all through her dance rehearsal. It is a simple video yet spectacular. A different concept from other music videos in that the lady has a place she goes to everyday not like some music videos where the ladies are just placed there with no particular quality but as a seductress. I love the energetic dance. However, the rehearsal ground was dark from beginning to the end- it is somehow sha. Infact, the lighning was dim.
Yeah, I just always love tekno’s shaku shaku moves; always making me fall in love with shaku shaku

WATCH VIDEO HERE

BEAT: Great beat, it is quite melodious, though it is not a fast beat. His vocal was quite audible at the onset until the latter part of the song where it seemed he was lost for words. It seems he didn’t know what he was singing again. Well balanced instrumentals
There was a part where I struggled to hear the lyrics because the instrumental went higher than the vocals

COSTUME: Terrific. I love that Tekno’s outfit, so on point. The dancers’ outfit (eyes rolling)

JUST WONDERING

• Is there something Tekno is trying to tell his fans and Nigerians about this Eluku dance
• Didn’t they notice this?
vlcsnap-2018-04-14-13h55m59s269
• How many your love videos does he have? because there is already one with Reekado
• Why did this girl open her mouth like this na?

• My baby I know how we start am (aahahahah). We are not given a clue about how they started it
DURATION: 3:55
DIRECTED BY: PAUL GAMBIT
REMARK: Shallow lyrics but quite an interesting video to watch

MOVIE REVIEW: BLACK PANTHER “WE NEED THIS VIBRANIUM IN THIS COUNTRY BIKO!”

MARVEL STUDIOS

PRESENT
BLACK PANTHER: “THE REVIEW”

The movie “Black Panther” is a 2018 movie about an African country Wakanda (Fictional). The people of Wakanda are wealthy people who don’t fight unnecessarily except there is a need to, even though they have all the sophisticated technologies enough to defeat any country. Their amazing technology is made possible with the help of vibranium only associated with their country and which the Wakandans also hide from the rest of the world. The vibranium is a powerful substance (like a metal) which they use to advance their technology. They used it in making the Black Panther suit along with all that is embedded in the suit, weapons and so on. In essence, the suit made with the use of the vibranium would definitely save Black Panther from bullets or attacks during a fight.

Meanwhile, after the death of the king- Tchaka (John Kani), his son Tchalla(Chadwick Boseman ) is summoned by the tribal elders of Wakanda to assume the throne. As the Black Panther, he is given an herb to drink which makes him an extra-ordinary being. This gives him the strength, speed and instinct that is beyond human.

Tchalla idolizes his father- Tchaka so much even after his death. He desires to be like him and follow his footsteps. However, when his father’s secret about how he killed his own younger brother- Njobu (Sterling K. Brown) and abandoned his son Erik (Michael B. Jordan) is disclosed, he rescinds from following his father’s footsteps but his in order to save the people of Wakanda

Not quite long after he is crowned king, the abandoned son of his uncle- Erik shows up and claims to be the rightful king. Erik who is a former black ops mercenary and with so much vengeance seeks to kill Tchalla as a payback for his father’s death. Tchalla accepts Erik’s challenge and during the traditional rite of combat, Erik defeats Tchalla throwing him over a waterfall. Erik’s major aim is to continue his father’s mission which is to use Wakanda’s power to liberate black people willingly or unwillingly

The movie “Black Panther” is super interesting; action packed and has some hilarious scenes. There was more action in the latter part of the movie; the last fight between Erik and Tchalla which lasted for about 15 minutes. Like seriously, for the over two hours that I watched this movie, there were no scenes with sex, flirting, nudity, drugs, alcohol, which makes it easy to be watched by children except the scenes where fights were carried out. They were really African in their names, dressing and languages spoken. Even the artefacts are from African countries.

Though the word vibranium doesn’t exist, it is more like a fictional word, but I really wish it did, especially in this part of our country so we could make weapons to fight those attacking the peace of the nation and defeat them without a sweat; especially in this recent offa robbery incident.

Also, I love the cast; they all interpreted their roles well and put so much energy in their acting. There was also a striking resemblance among casts especially those that were related in the movie. However, there were too many scenes shot in the dark which I really don’t know why. The film was written and directed by Ryan Coogler.

CAST

Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan,; Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Sterling K. Brown, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, Florence Kasumba, John Kani, David S. Lee acted, Nabiyah Be, Isaach De Bankolé, Connie Chiume, Dorothy Steel, Danny Sapani
Costume wise
• African costume
Sound wise
• Terrific! The sounds of splashing water was perfect. For instance, before Erik threw Tchalla into the water, there was this constant splash as they fought in the water.

JUST WONDERING

• All through the film, Nakia was referred to as Tchalla’s former love with no single hint on what caused their split even though they made up later. Also, they didn’t even show clips on their love story, just scene where Nakia kissed Tchalla; I mean there could have been more, not sex though.

• Was there really a need for Tchalla to accept the challenge with his cousin- Erik, he was already crowned king. The challenge should have been closed on the day of the traditional right of combat after he defeated jebari.

• I thought they said four tribes settled to become Wakanda but Jebari isolated themselves? It seems more than four- watch the scene and listen to dialogues before Tchalla and Mbaku’s (Winston Duke) fight. About 22- 24 minutes…

• Is it not ironical that Erik defeated Tchalla in the first fight even after drinking the herb before the fight. Meanwhile, the herb was supposed to give him super human strength.

• Why they made it look like Africans do not believe in God but in godsss. Like seriously, Africans are religious people

• Like seriously, that was an easy kill for khlaue (Andy Serkis) by Erik. For Khlaue to have stolen tons of vibraniums from the Wakandans and escaping thereafter despite their sophisticated weapons, that means he is one tough meat.

Confusing scene(s): NIL

Overall rating for BLACK PANTHER

• STRUCTURE: Good Beginning, Good Middle, Good Ending
• SOUND: Terrific
• DIALOGUE: Good
• CHARACTERS: Familiar faces and new faces
• SCREEN PLAY: Good
• SHOTS: Bright shots
• LOCATION:
• REMARK: Very interesting to movie to watch. No explicit content and can be watched by children.
• RATE: 8/10

THROWBACK MOVIE: BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN

I don’t know why in “Indian name” Indian films just always have that capability to make tears fill people’s eyes. Most of their films have tragic ending, even their songs will make you cry, but the good thing is that the movie “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” doesn’t have a sad ending, butttt……

Anyway, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a 2015 Indian movie about a little girl called Munni (‎Harshaali Malhotra). Munni was born dumb. She lost touch with her family while travelling with her mum on a certain day (Munni got off the train while everyone was fast asleep and when the train moved, she was unable to catch up; odi serious). She was this kind of girl that Igbos call “Awaghari or Jeghari”, Yorubas call “rin nipa”, and the Hausas call “Tafiya game de”. As in, Munni can walk about for the world; once you blink an eye, she is far gone from where you put her. I am wondering how parents cope with that kind of child sha.

Back to the story

Munni was unable to find her mum. So, the day she got lost, she stumbled on Bajrangi (Salman Khan) and instantly felt connected to him. Fortunately, Bajrangi was a good man different from those heartless men who may have seen it as an opportunity to use her for their greedy sexual purposes. Reluctantly, Bajrangi took Munni to the family house of his fiance- Rasika (Kareena kapoor

Munni’s voiceless nature hindered any possibility of getting information about her family background and returning her home. But one day, while they watched a football match, Bajrangi, Rasika and family were able to tell that she was from Pakistan.

Now, there was this unending conflict between the people of Pakistan and the people of India. Bajrangi felt the strong need to return Munni home. The first attempt he tried, those people he met wanted to pull Munni into prostitution but he was able to deliver her from their hands on time. Bajrangi doesn’t have visa and was ready to break all protocols to return Munni home himself. He entered Pakistan without a visa by crawling under the border fences and now he was accused of being an Indian spy. Going by the hatred between the duos, do you think Bajrangi would come out from Pakistan alive?

ADVERT REVIEW: HOLLANDIA’S “CHOCO MALT” ADVERT. “TEENS ACTING SO MUCH LIKE BABIES!”

HOLLANDIA CHOCO MALT “SHARP SHARP” ADVERT

THE ADVERT

So, at the beginning of the advert, a guy walks up to his friends and chats with them, shortly after, a lady brings out her phone and shows all of them a picture of Hollandia Choco Malt. In the next scene, some guys are playing the basketball, but one of them takes the lead.(Didn’t see any Hollandia Choco malt in this scene though)

Next scene, a lady is seen watching the last clip of her meeting with colleagues on her laptop where they all had Hollandia Choco Malt on their table. She has one on her table as well. Next is the salon scene where a customer has the Hollandia Choco Malt placed in front of her.

Next scene is where some students are all playing games. (Didn’t see the Hollandia Choco Malt drink though)In the next scene, a girl walks up to her friend showing off her Hollandia Choco Malt drink. (This is practically almost the same with the first scene)

Then the dance scene! (Eyes rolling)

THE REVIEW

The basic message in this advert is that Hollandia Choco Malt can be taken anytime, any day and anywhere. Hence the reason for the word “sharp sharp”
So, you can take it while working, playing, conversing and so on.

However, in as much as I love the young, cute faces used in the advert, they were all acting childish. Infact, everything about the advert looked childish, from the choreography, to the soundtrack down to those that featured in the advert. There is a difference between childish and childlike; if they had done the latter that would have been preferable.

Hollandia drink is not a baby’s drink, it is also taken by adults. If they wanted an advert with baby behaviours, they should have gone for younger kids. Those teens are supposed to be in their University perhaps they are still secondary kids; notwithstanding they were acting like babies.

JUST WONDERING
1. Why they were dancing like people that had not eaten; basically, there was no energy in their dance. Their expression was baby like.

2. The advert song sounds childish
3. I wonder why this picture is blurred
vlcsnap-2018-04-09-04h46m26s121

REMARK

I thought they were supposed to be University students not because the advert was shot at the University of Lagos. This advert could have been better if those featured in the advert put in more energy. Also, the advert song looks like those songs that people usually sing for babies
