One movie that was really, and I mean really talked about and watched in the 90’s was certainly Matilda. This interesting movie was released two decades ago- 1996, 22 years ago precisely. Matilda! You remember her right? The six years old child actor who had powers in the movie. She wanted to go to school at all cost but her parents were reluctant about sending her to school. However matilda did not relent till her parents finally sent her ot school. She was different from the rest of her family- Wormwood. She loved to read a lot. Remember when she blew the television with her powers when her daddy snatched the book she was reading and forced her to watch the TV? Remember how she read a lot of books in the movie, well Mara Wilson is not only a book reader now as she writes as well. Mara Wilson was born July 24, 1987
Matilda’s father
MOVIE NAME: HARRY WORMWOOD / REAL NAME: DANNY DEVITO
Remember him? Matilda’s father right? He was always escalating the prices of his vehicles. He would usually buy condemned vehicle parts and still use in his automotive industry thereby endangering the lives of vehicle users. He was known for always cheating and doing illegitimate transactions. He made excess gain in his business. He once bought a vehicle for a thousand dollars and resold at seven thousand dollars (OMG!). He even told his son to be like him. He reluctantly sent Matilda to school and when she clocked 6, he argued with her that she was still four years old (Really funny).
Danny Devito directed the movie- Matilda and he is actually married to the woman that played his wife in the movie –Zinna Wormwood (Rhea Perlman. Though they are currently separated but not divorced ; this won’t be the first time. Devito is a film and television producer. Danny Devito was born on November 17, 1944
Matilda’s mum
MOVIE NAME: ZINNIA WORMWOOD / REAL NAME: RHEA PERLMAN
Yeah! Zinnia Wormwood never created time for Matilda, not even her children. She was always out playing bingo. Infact, she was the most unconcerned mother in all the 1990 movies I watched(#Winks). She just neglected her duty as a mother. Remember when she and her husband forgot Matilda in the vehicle. Remember when Matilda got back from school and she asked her how school was, Matilda tried replying her, but she was actually not interested in her reply- Phew!
She is married to Danny Devito, the man that played her husband in the movie and they have been married since 1982; 36 years precisely. Though they are separated now. Rhea Periman was born March 31, 1948
Matilda’s brother
MOVIE NAME: MICKEY WORMWOOD / REAL NAME: BRIAN LEVINSON
He was just Matilda’s brother and could be silly at times. Remember when he threw a carrot at Matilda? Well with her magical powers, Magila was able to reverse it to him before the carrot hit her, and this time into his mouth. Brian Levinson was born October 27, 1982
The tyrant headmistress
MOVIE NAME: AGATHA TRUNCHBULL / REAL NAME: PAM FERRIS
One unforgettable adult character in this movie would be Mrs. Pam Ferris because of her hostility to people especially the children of Crunchem Hall. I mean, her giant stature was scary enough not to talk of the cruel way she handled those children like throwing them out of the window – Jeeez; forcing them to eat big cake more than enough for a wedding party; locking them up in the choker; tugging their hair and spinning them with it. She was indeed heinous, unkind and really maltreated the children. Her method of disciplining children who did no wrong talk less of those that did wrong was inhuman. Remember when the children gave her water to drink that contained a live newt?
She was also Miss Honey’s aunt. She also criminally took what rightfully belonged to Miss Honey and made it hers. Ofcourse, she got what she deserved at the end of the movie. She didn’t even marry in the movie. I used to feel her stature in the movie was just some camera tricks. Pam Perris was born 11th May, 1948

MOVIE NAME: MISS HONEY / REAL NAME: EMBETH DAVIDTZ
Miss honey was the very capable, loving and fun to be with teacher that every student would want as a teacher and the head of the school; which she later was. Remember how Miss Trunchbull stripped her off her father’s property after his death. However, Matilda with her powers, restored all back to her. She was so motherly. She loved Matilda and tool her like her own daughter. Well she eventually became Matilda’s mum. Embeth Davidtz was born August 11, 1965
The chocolate boy
MOVIE NAME: BRUCE BOGTROTTER / REAL NAME: JIMMY KARZ
He surely looks familiar. He is so trimmed now and better. Remember the boy that was forced to eat that big chocolate cake enough to serve wedding guests? OMG! Surely, he had his own revenge back. Remember when Miss. Trunchbull was chased out of the school, he also forced some cake into her mouth, though it was small compared to what the former forced him to eat. But really, I love his shape now, preferable now. When I watched the movie then, I felt his shape was some camera tricks. Bruce Bogtrotter was born July 26, 1984
The girl with spectacles
MOVIE NAME: LAVENDER / REAL NAME: KIAMI DAVAEL
Remember that child actor that wore spectacles all through the movie. She was Matilda’s friend in the movie and they are still close pals till date. Remember when Miss Trunchbull wanted to harm her in the second to the last scene, but Matilda used powers to save her from Trunchbull’s wrath. She lifted her up. What did Lavender say afterwards “Wow, I didn’t know I could do that” so funny. Kiami Davael was born August 21, 1986
The girl in the garden
MOVIE NAME: AMANDA THRIPP / REAL NAME: JACQUELINE STEIGER
She was also Matilda’s friend in the movie. Remember the small girl who Miss. Trunchbull tugged her hair using it to fling her into the garden. However, she landed safely because Matilda used her powers to save her. Guess what she brought back from the garden? Flowers! Oh Sugar, that must have really pained Miss Trunchbull.
