Once upon a time, there lived three close friends Peter, Paul and Pat.
Peter, Paul and Pat were really close that they lived together, played together, laughed together, dined together, moved around together; they virtually did everything together.
They didn’t have good jobs and and so they couldn’t afford a good accommodation.
Every end of the month, the three friends contributed money from their purses for home keep
While Peter and Paul contributed 50% of their earnings, Pat contributed only 5% of his earnings. Peter and Paul thought Pat’s earning was really low, not knowing that Pat was earning more than them and was hiding his money inside the nylon he hid in the ceiling.
So, whenever Pat was paid, he would open one of the ceilings as usual & throw the money in the nylon.
Whenever Pat hides money in the ceiling, there always came an hungry rat, angry that there was nothing edible in the nylon
So, why was Pat hiding his money in the ceiling? He was simply greedy; he wanted to have all to himself.

While Peter and Paul were generous with their things, Pat was tight-fisted with his things and always lied that he didn’t have; even though he constantly took from his friends
Peter loved to dance, Paul loved to write while Pat loved to cook.
So, one day, they decided to start going for competitions in order to have more money in their purse.
Peter went for a dance competition; he won and shared the money and goodies with his friends. Pat with an outstretched hand collected from him almost demanding more.
Paul went for a writing competition; he won and shared the money and goodies with his friends. Pat with an outstretched arm collected from him almost demanding more.
Pat went for a cooking competition. He also won; he was given money and goodies.
But did Pat share with his friends? No! He opened the ceiling and threw it into his nylon of money. While he ate some edibles he was given, he sold others.
“And there came this hungry Rat, upset that there was nothing edible in the nylon, so it went its way.”

So, when Peter and Paul got back from work, they asked one after the other, “Oh, Pat, so how was the competition”
And Pat with a sad face and tears almost spilling down his cheeks replied, “Oh friends, I lost out in the competition”. “Don’t worry, one day, I know I will surprise you guys.”
And Peter and Paul feeling so sorry for Pat consoled him. “Sorry, Pat, one day, there will be a lot of money flying into your path and ours” Peter said, while Paul nodded in agreement.
Another competition came and they all went. Peter again won the competition; he shared his money and goodies with his friends, while Pat as usual almost demanded more. Paul also won; he shared the money and goodies with his friends while Pat as usual almost demanded more. Pat also won and was given money and goodies.
But did Pat share with his friends? No! He opened the ceiling and threw it into his nylon of money. While he ate some edibles he was given, he sold others.

So, when Peter and Paul got back from work, they asked one after the other, “Oh, Pat, so how was the competition.”

The two friends of Pat, even went as far as giving him more things from what they garnered in the competitions they won, and of course, Pat with an outstretched hand grabbed them, almost demanding more…
So Pat did this for a very very long time, and his friends kept consoling him for a very long time. At times when Peter and Paul were out of the house, Pat would open the ceiling, bring down his nylon of money and then count, count and count his money. And he would smile, smile and smile at himself “I am surely a smart ass,” Pat would say after counting.
But one day, there came just one competition, and that was the food competition. So, Peter, Paul and Pat all went for the same competition. And that day, it so rained cat and dog.
What do I mean by it rained cat and dog? That is it rained heavily.
Peter and Paul were knocked out of the competition leaving just one man standing.
And who was that man? Pat of course! He won lots of money and goodies. So, his friends rejoiced with him, happy that finally, Pat has won a competition and a lot of money indeed came flying his path.
