The music ‘God’s plan’ by Drake is one that is certainly catchy because of the title. This however worked well for the young rapper as fans were really curious to know what he meant by God’s plan, especially when it’s coming from the music scene where musicians mostly sing about ladies and their body parts, money, drinks, drugs etc. But do the verses really capture what he sang in the chorus God’s plan? Lyrically- The message in the verses of the song is different from that of the chorus. The chorus seems totally disentangled from the verses itself. Though the video of this song can be linked with the chorus, but you would want to ask yourself, what exactly is the God’s plan Drake sang about in the audio? The video was basically about the chorus. From the video, we can say God’s plan is for him to be a philanthropist and leave people with a wide smile, but listening to the audio you can’t pick out line that is specifically linked to the chorus
VIEW CHORUS: “God’s plan, God’s plan…I hold back, sometimes I won’t, yeah
I feel good, sometimes I don’t, ay, don’t…”
VERSE 1: Talks about Drake trying to stay away from trouble and he hopes the world remembers him for his works when he is gone (I still can’t link the chorus to this verse)
VERSE 2: Talks about people (we don’t know them exactly- may be his friendly enemies) wishing bad things on him. He also talks about a friend he tattooed on him. He also talks about loving his mum more than his girlfriend. This he says in the line “She say, “Do you love me?” I tell her, “Only partly”

The verses don”t sync with the chorus. The lyrics to the chorus are that of ‘capability’ made possible by God while the verses are that of ‘remembrance’ ‘haters’
WHAT IS THE SONG ‘GOD’S PLAN’ REALLY ABOUT
The song has no particular theme as each line seems to be independent rather than being dependent on the next line.
After watching the visuals, one can say the song is about Drake’s intention to provide for all especially those that have financial constrain. Evidence of his philanthropist acts was when he entered a superstore and asked them to shop all they want that the bill was on him. He also gave out money to the college students, fire station and a host of others.
In the verse 1, the line below shows that he has been giving out “I make sure that north-side eat…”
Though, if one listens to the audio before watching the video, one may not be able to say the same thing. The video only sync with the chorus.
Also, Drake talks about certain people wishing bad things on him. This he said in the line…. “Bad things; it’s a lot of bad things that they wishing and wishing and wishing and wishing; they wishing on me”
Though, Drake didn’t call out names, but one can tell that he is referring to his haters.
He also talks about loving his mum and bed more than his girlfriend. This he sang “She say, “Do you love me?” I tell her, “Only partly” “I only love my bed and my momma, I’m sorry”
He also talks about people remembering him for his works and not just missing him for nothing “I don’t wanna die for them to miss me…Hope I got some brothers that outlive me. They gonna tell the story, shit was different with me”
If you ask me, the title doesn’t reflect in the verses but partly in the chorus.
BEAT: The beat is tuneful, so solid, especially from that timing 1:01, where a new beat was introduced in the song. The rhythm effect is smooth.

I love this video; all the people he featured in the video were truly expressive. Their reactions made the video interesting to watch. The video was shot in different locations, majorly outdoor. He visited the community superstore, fire stations, colleges etc and donated a lot of money. At the beginning of the video, it was noted that he donated about Donated 996, 631 dollars.

All in all, this is one song with great performance! It will garner a lot of viewers based on the title and the fans’ inquisitiveness which will overtime generate crowd, it is hence a great commercial potential
