(+LYRICS) MUSIC REVIEW: “LOVE YOU BABY” BY BANKY W (WHO ELSE NOTICED THIS IN THE VIDEO…)

Though the audio to this terrific tune was released last year-2017 but it seemed his fans were sleeping when it came out or perhaps they were extremely engulfed in the character Dozie Onwuka played by Banky Wellington popularly known as Banky W in the movie Wedding Party 1

This is one true song for the ‘lovebirds’. Before we go to the main review, feel the lyrics…

BEATZ…
CHORUS

Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby
Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby

VERSE 1
See, I know they say love is blind. And as e no dey look face, e no dey look eye
And as e no dey look eye, e no dey use mind. So we can’t help how we feel inside
And we make love but we no dey make sense. Cos we know we’ll be better off, being just friends
So we pretend, like we don’t care. Only God knows where we go from here

CHORUS
I love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby
Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby

VERSE 2
Baby if I could I would make you mine oh, Cos your loving feels so good it must be a crime, yeah
Me and you are like Romeo and Juliet. Cos in the end our love is my regret (Our love is my regret)

Baby anytime I see you smile. Got me really feeling like a child
I don’t ever wanna let you go. It’s so right and still so wrong
And we can’t pretend like we don’t care (No we don’t care, no we don’t care)
Only God knows where we go from here (Where do we go from here?)

CHORUS
Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby
Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby

HOOK
And we try, to walk away, but everyday, we end up right back in the same place
I don dey craze. I don’t know how much more that I can take it, darling I’m about to breeeak

CHORUS

Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby (I want you baby)

THE REVIEW

Lyrically, the song is on point, the lines of each verses connect well and the words are easy to comprehend; no confusing lines. He sang mostly in pidgin “See, I know they say love is blind. And as e no dey look face, e no dey look eye. And as e no dey look eye, e no dey use mind. So we can’t help how we feel inside…”

What is the song “Love you baby” about

This is no doubt a love song. Banky W has a lady friend who he has intense feelings for. Their friendship is beyond platonic as they are sexually attracted to each other as well. In essence, they usually have sex with each other. This Banky W made known in Verse 1“And we make love but we no dey make sense. Cos we know we’ll be better off, being just friends”

Though they are close friends, but Banky W yearns for her love and he feels it may be difficult to have her fully to himself as the lady is classy and gets much of men’s attention. Banky W perhaps sees this as a threat and tries to fight off his intense feelings for her, but it is difficult. This he says in the chorus
“Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby
Love to, love to, love you baby. I no suppose to dey want you but I want you baby”

He is trying not to love the lady, but he can’t fight the feelings because her smile is captivating, her shape is perfect, perhaps she has good skills in bed (or maybe not, since Banky sang, “we made love, but im no dey make sense”)#Winks
She is one lady every man would like to have. Banky is so drawn to her and can’t do without her, the more he tries to distance himself from her, the closer he moves to her. “And we try, to walk away, but everyday, we end up right back in the same place…I don dey craze. I don’t know how much more that I can take it, darling I’m about to breeeak’

At the end, he is unable to fight the urge to be with her as he ends up hooking up with her again in their usual spot- the bedroom.

Beat: Great- Capable to put you in the love mood! The back up singers were exceptional

Location/Video Concept: The video was shot majorly indoor, a place looking like an hotel room; outdoor was used on few occasions. It is a simple concept but spectacular. It is one video you would certainly want to watch again. Banky W and the lady really brought live to the video. They acted their parts well; their expressions and gestures emphasized their true passion for each other.
Costume; Banky W never makes mistakes when it comes to outfit in his music videos, he is always at his best, likewise in this song; the costume was terrific. The lady’s outfit was suitable for each occasion.

Just thinking
• Where exactly is their usual spot?Hotel room? Then this must be nothing but just a sexual love

Duration: 5:06
Terrific song! So, who else noticed that our Dozie Onwuka ; I mean Mr. capable as in Banky W made this video look like a real love movie…(like he was really missing his wife #winks)
